Apparently bootcut jeans are back for 2021. Yay! Is anyone wearing them, haven't seem many out and about. Can't decide whether to be brave or wait a bit...

ofwarren · 25/02/2021 20:52

I'm never going back to wearing jeans after lockdown is over.
Uncomfortable, horrible things

Lililou · 25/02/2021 21:46

Hahaha yes @ofwarren ! Same here! I've just stocked up on joggers and leggings. Never going back!

I hate jeans. They never fit me properly no matter what style I try.

SnowyBranches · 25/02/2021 21:50

I’ve never stopped wearing them!

InterfectoremVulpes · 25/02/2021 21:52

I've recently discovered treggings. Game changer!

Crinkle77 · 25/02/2021 23:15

Yey, I've never stopped wearing them though. Hate skinny jeans.

Mydogruns · 25/02/2021 23:19

They have been saying that for the last 5 years but they still haven’t caught on - they are bloody awful.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 25/02/2021 23:24

I never stopped wearing them. Skinny jeans look awful on my short chunky legs.

SomethingOnce · 26/02/2021 00:19

Are Very Long Pointy Shoes coming back as well?

NotWithMyShoes · 26/02/2021 06:00

I also never stopped wearing them! Other types of jeans look ridiculous on me.

I quite like the look of them, and used to weat them, but they're very impractical as you need them in a shorter length for casual wear, and then a longer length for heels wear (where they look best), and then if it rains the rain seeps in all at the back. Skinnies are much easier to roll to whatever length you need shoe and weather permitting!

SomeRandomerOnBumsnet · 26/02/2021 06:32

Bootcuts are dreadful, frumpy 'mum' jeans that style forgot. Pair them with black 'mum' boots with chunky heels and square toes to complete the classic frumpish look.

I know skinnies are no longer 'on trend' but they will have to prise mine from my cold dead hands, I love them, they suit me, I will never go back to 90's 'fashion'

Tdaadfb100 · 26/02/2021 07:03

Oh no .. I didn’t even know they went out of fashion. 😭 I still wear my (low rise)ones with a wide-ish belt around my hips.
I imagine I’m in All Saints (the girl band, not the shop)
Take me back to those happy days ..

OhTheTastyNuts · 26/02/2021 08:01

I wish low rise jeans would come back! High waisted are so uncomfortable. And seriously unflattering if, like me, all your height is in your legs and you have a short body.

I end up buying Diesel jeans on eBay!

I am happy in either skinny or bootcut, as long as they fasten under my belly button!

Hollyhead · 26/02/2021 08:09

@OhTheTastyNuts yes, completely agree - although not so low rise that your bum hangs out - I remember that being a massive downside of early 00's jeans!

MildredPuppy · 26/02/2021 08:16

I saw a couple of group of older teen girls in bootcuts the other day ! Not jeans though, other trousers. I did a double take and thought this is it, im finally old. The dominant fashion of my late teens is back. Question is will ot make me feel older or younger to wear them again.

changi · 26/02/2021 08:20

With a six inch rise and paired with a short top, they don't exactly shout frumpy mum.

YoComoManzanas · 26/02/2021 08:21

Surely flares would come back again before bootcut?

Peanutbutterblood · 26/02/2021 08:26

I've long legs and a short body but much prefer high waisted Jean's, my little love handles dont look good in low rise.

Not a fan of boot cut. I think I'd rather they were super tight on the leg and had a bigger flare then boot cut

Same here. Calves are too fat (well, muscly) for slim jeans.

😂I don't recall seeing many people wear them with a low rise and a short top and look good - oh no - more often it was the hell of the muffin tops! Stay away from bootcuts - if you look good in them you are Kate Moss and look good in anything.
changi · 26/02/2021 10:19

I didn't say they looked good, just not frumpy.

Like a lot of fashions, there should be a licensing system to prevent misuse. Low rise, cropped tops and big wobbly midriffs are not a good mix. Fixed penalties should apply.

AuntieStella · 26/02/2021 10:25

This has been said annually for at least the last 3 years

Legs are meant to taper, so adding width low down makes all but the very tall/willowy look as if they're held up by solid tree-trunks.

Not a look for me.

I'll stick with skinnies, or tapered as they follow the silhouette of the body
