Great idea for a thread op I'm sick of seeing the same shows repeatedly mentioned/recommended.
I always recommend white collar I don't know anyone else in real life who's seen it but it's a fantastic show, light crime procedural but with quirky supporting cast and a real heart to it, plus Matt bomer is GORGEOUS!
Leverage - I started watching recently, those who remember Hustle might like this a band of con artists work together to gain justice for others using their less than straight up talents.
Also, Medium
Yea I got fed up with only first few seasons being shown on tv and shelled out to buy via Amazon streaming. Well worth it I've watched a few times now. Love the family element and the characters as well as the crime solving aspects.
@BlackAmericanoNoSugar I'd love to hear more about the expanse. One of my favourite but not famous actors ever is in it - Shohreh aghdashloo
She's one of those actors you won't recognise the name but you will very likely have seen her and been impressed by her. Fabulous actor.
But I'm not sure if it's worth trying just cos she's in it? Seems to look like something that requires a lot of concentration which is something I struggle with these days
I don't know why people gave such an aversion to subtitled shows
Speaking personally it's because my eyesight isn't great anyway and even with glasses watching something with subtitles is hard going and I can't manage more than 2 episodes without getting a headache.
Jane the virgin is an old favourite I struggle to watch now, SO many people who know my TASTES have recommended many a scandi drama as they're my sort of thing with longer running plot lines etc, call my agent is on my list, money heist and a few others that are subtitled are on my list but I would need certain conditions to be able to watch them (well rested, good natural light, eyes behaving, head behaving)
@PlasticCupPolitics no offence was very popular on here and generally at the time it was first released. Excellent show, shame it was finished
Flashforward as has been mentioned a couple of times was excellent
There was a similar series called "the nine" (not to be confused with the current British show) About the aftermath of a bank robbery was good too but sadly cancelled after just one season (I fear many really good USA made dramas are "too complicated" for their domestic market and get cancelled whereas we Brits love em!)
A canadian show called "flash point" starring enrico colantonj (he played Elias in "person of interest") which I loved but I'm struggling to find it now. About a SWAT team who use psychology as their main tool. Each episode is a flashback to how the criminal ends up at the point where swat are involved. Not even dvds available so must be a licensing thing
Another one on "star" on Disney I would highly recommend - lie to me! Fabulous show! Cut off in its prime and the "owners" refused to sell to anyone else to make! But still well worth a watch
Some cracking films in the new Disney content too
Timeless - on prime and Netflix about history prof and soldier trying to stop Goran Ivanisec changing events in the past. Really good but no one else has watched!
I HAVE
Fantastic series, love it have watched it so much I almost know the script now, again cut off in its prime but at least they were able to do a finale for it. Some amazing episodes highlighting little known histories mainly civil rights perspective. I think the women's suffrage one is my favourite. I reckon the writers were quantum leap fans (which isn't bloody available anywhere! Now Disney should be on that one! They must have the money for this)
