Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

Oh another recent ish one, Dirk Gently - on Netflix. DP and I raved over it, but not one other person seems to have seen it. Probably why they didn't make a 3rd series!

Estara · 23/02/2021 23:13

Oh, the high life. I loved that. Does anyone remember sunburn? About holiday reps in Cyprus. I've tried to track it down but it's not anywhere.

We've just watched the whole series of him and her for the 3rd time. It's on BBC Iplayer at the minute.

wellthatsunusual · 23/02/2021 23:14

Southland. It was one of the best series I've ever watched and I don't know anyone else who has seen it.

Rescue Me. The characters were brilliant. Not likeable, but brilliant all the same. And the humorous bits were very dark.

The Coroner. It's available on Britbox and I'm seriously considering subscribing solely to watch this again.
When it originally was screened in 2015 it was mid-afternoon BBC1, I only heard about it because there were good reviews on the radio, should have been an evening show to rival eg Doc Martin, it stars Claire Goosey as the coroner and Matt Bardock (ex Casualty) as the detective, there is a lot of past history between the 2 main characters and that unfolds over the 2 series they filmed. It was then cancelled, so the full story isn't quite revealed and you are left wondering if they get together as a couple.

I know there are a couple of Coroner fans on here but so few mention it (probably because it was originally shown mid afternoon)

The Bold Type The Secret Life of Us (really old)

Loved the Thick of It - a friend recommended it to me a couple of years ago. Wish I'd seen it sooner.

I love The Secret Life of Us. I've not long re-watched it on Amazon. Very nostalgic. Had to stop after the the third season though. Too many character changes in the final season - scared it will be rubbish.

Winners & losers Aussie drama about old school friends than win lottery. I thought it was great but itv disagreed and stopped showing it.

Kollin · 23/02/2021 23:16

Ripper Street. Matthew McFadyen & Jerome Flynn, amongst loads of other top actors! It's on Prime if anyone is interested.

Nashville. Connie Briton & Hayden Panetiere, loved it. Think it's on sky or NowTV.

grassisjeweled · 23/02/2021 23:16

I've seen carnivale - really good

bluebluezoo · 23/02/2021 23:17

Lucifer Truth Seekers Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip Ghosts
Also love Studio 60. I have it on DVD which I watch quite regularly. Such a shame it was cancelled after one season.
Pookaroo · 23/02/2021 23:19

Supernatural, I know one other person that watches it but they haven't seen all 15 seasons yet so I have no one to talk to about it 🙄

StiltonVanDeKamp · 23/02/2021 23:19

Southland was brilliant. I'd definitely watch that again if it was on one of the streaming services.

I think a lot of people have watched it, I wouldn't class it as an under-watched show at all!

I loved this too!

Also, Medium.

whatacarryon2018 · 23/02/2021 23:32

Nashville!

VienneseWhirligig · 23/02/2021 23:32

Dharma and Greg! Completely forgot about that one myself until now. Used to watch that when I lived with my first boyfriend

ExcusesAndAccusations · 23/02/2021 23:33

Ultraviolet was brilliant. I have it on DVD and it was repeated on London Live quote recently. London Live is great for forgotten gems. It’s doing Sapphire and Steel at the moment.

A more recent hidden gem was Quacks - a show about Victorian doctors, like a rather darker and more obscure Ghosts, with a few of the Horrible Histories crew. It’s on BritBox and worth every penny of the money I spent subscribing, (which to be fair was nothing, because I got a free 6 months with my broadband).
