Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

I love Call My Agent and recommended it to a good friend, who says she is now obsessed with it, and to DS who thinks it's great.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 23/02/2021 23:01

The Kominsky Method. Michael Douglas as an acting coach, so if you loved Barry you’ll enjoy this too! Funny and touching - not usually a fan of his but loved him in this.

Jasharps · 23/02/2021 23:01

I love this is us and cry at every episode. Last week's was especially emotional!

Love The Sheild & Revenge too.

Big fan of Fringe that's not so well known

Third Rock From the Sun and Becker. Love both but none of our family or friends have seen them.

CarpeVitam · 23/02/2021 23:02

This Is Us.

Furrybutts · 23/02/2021 23:04

You Rang 'Ma Lord.
Absolutely love it and have watched all 4 series countless times.
Never gets old.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 23/02/2021 23:04

Early Doors.

Literallynoidea · 23/02/2021 23:04

OMG I hated This Is Us! Schmaltzy American rubbish.

Agree about the Jinx - great telly, although all my friends watched it.

I have recently enjoyed Firefly Lane but none of my friends have seen it.

CarpeVitam · 23/02/2021 23:05

Scrap that ☝️🙄

I meant This Life.....,early 90's

OrangeBananaFish · 23/02/2021 23:05

I loved revenge. I was recommended this is us from MN. It was very heavily advised.

I'm currently watching a programme called Dare Me and Superstore on Netflix. Have just finished watching Firefly Lane.

Another favourite one of mine is a Canadian one called Heartland. Doesn't often get mentioned.

Blibbyblobby · 23/02/2021 23:05

@Blibbyblobby

Three British ones from the late 90s and early 00s have stuck in my memory:

Holding On
Ultraviolet
Funtown

I remember them being really good and groundbreaking but I've never rewatched so I don't know how well they would have aged.

Funland , not Funtown
JustanotherTuesday · 23/02/2021 23:06

Gilmore Girls
The Good Wife, especially after Jeffrey Dean Morgan joined.
Hart of Dixie
Parenthood
Revenge, I really liked Nolan.
Friday Night Dinner

Mrsjayy · 23/02/2021 23:06

*Ghosts
Utterly adore it, have no one to talk to about it *
Love ghosts there a whole thread of us who gather every series.

Elementary American sherlock with Johnny Lee Miller far better than BBC version.

ImAllOut · 23/02/2021 23:06

The Mentalist and White Collar

Enrosadira · 23/02/2021 23:07

The big C

RoomAtTheEndOfTheWorld · 23/02/2021 23:07

Good idea for a thread, me and DH love loads of random shows that no one has ever heard of and we're always desperate to talk to people about them!

Nashville (years ago)
The Goldbergs
Good Girls (Binged recently on Netflix and loved it!)

They're the ones that spring to mind just now anyway.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 23/02/2021 23:08

Humans

Hana

They were both so good!! I don’t know anyone who’s watched them.

Also a dubbed from the original German series when I was a child called Silas, about a young boy and his beautiful horse. The intro music was ace!

Frannibananni · 23/02/2021 23:08

Letterkenny. I know people just like the characters so DH and I find it hilarious.

NotImpossible · 23/02/2021 23:08

Fifteen Storeys High

Sitcom with Sean Lock - I remember really enjoying it but nobody else seems to have heard of it. Was quite a while ago though...

Grenlei · 23/02/2021 23:09

@Blibbyblobby I loved Ultraviolet! I found it online a few years ago and it was still great.

I also loved Upload. I have tried to get my DC and DP to watch it and none of them will. Thought it was fab although I suspect at least part of that was due to the very handsome lead actor!

One series no one ever seems to have seen is How Not To Live Your Life. Was on BBC3 about 10-12 years ago. Bloody brilliant. I wish the BBC would put it on Iplayer.

bluebluezoo · 23/02/2021 23:10

The High Life.

Brilliant 90’s comedy about an airline.

Normandy144 · 23/02/2021 23:10

Succession. Absolutely brilliant show.

Selkiesarereal · 23/02/2021 23:11

I came on here to say Superstore but happily there is another poster who has also watched it.

I should add that I loved Silicon Valley as well, so sad when it ended.

Mrsjayy · 23/02/2021 23:12
