Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

These aren't current shows but Pushing Daisies, Being Erica, Greek, Suburgatory, Samantha Who? and Dirty Sexy Money. I don't know anyone else who watched them.

Take Three Girls - BBC series between 1969 and 1971. It was groundbreaking and as a young teenager It made a big impression on me. Cool theme tune too, sung by Pentangle. I'm guessing no-one else on here is old enough to remember it.

Also, Afterlife (2005-2006 on ITV) with Andrew Lincoln and Lesley Sharp, loved it.

NiceGerbil · 24/02/2021 02:05

Saw pushing daisies!

Kanaloa · 24/02/2021 02:09

Really surprised to see Gilmore Girls & Friday Night Dinner on here, I hear about them a lot! I would say The Exorcist tv show. I loved the first season but nobody I knew seemed to be watching it and I never caught the second series.

Enough4me · 24/02/2021 02:09

Misfits.

CatChant · 24/02/2021 02:15

Underworld by Andy Hamilton, the creator of Old Harry's Game. Funny, bizarre, dark and touching.

grapewine · 24/02/2021 02:26

Hustle. It was on BBC.
Babylon 5

NiceGerbil · 24/02/2021 02:30

Saw both of them grape!

Need to search to see if anyone seen mine...

OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 24/02/2021 02:31

NiceGerbil · 24/02/2021 02:32

Oh and Star cops!

BBC years ago

OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 24/02/2021 02:32

Oh, forgot about Killer Net. Excellent :)

Luffsmypup · 24/02/2021 02:54

I absolutely loved Nurse Jackie with Edie Falco, there are 7 seasons altogether and I could never find anyone in real life who watched it apart from myself.

marriednotdead · 24/02/2021 03:36

@NotImpossible

Fifteen Storeys High

Sitcom with Sean Lock - I remember really enjoying it but nobody else seems to have heard of it. Was quite a while ago though...

I absolutely loved this @NotImpossible, you’re not alone!

Remember watching with exh and both agreeing that it was so odd yet compelling viewing. Looked up buying a box set at one point but couldn’t justify the expense. Regret that one...

@diamondpony80

I loved an eighties sitcom called Who’s the Boss. Was a big fan of Tony Danza! I don’t know if it was popular or not back then but I don’t know anyone who’s seen it.
Who’s the Boss? was extremely popular in the US at the time and won awards. Now I feel like watching it for nostalgia’s sake. :)
craigsgirlfriend · 24/02/2021 04:43

Superstore as already mentioned
9-1-1 and the spin off 9-1-1 Lone Star on Sky Witness
I Will Destroy You
Cardinal

Mavedrai · 24/02/2021 05:41

You Rang M'Lord, which was mentioned by a PP. No idea why it wasn't more popular!

Kim's Convenience on Netflix. Lovely, heartwarming, not saccharine.

mycomfyunflatteringjumper · 24/02/2021 05:57

All mine have been mentioned I think
Hustle
Hotel Babylon
Ripper street
The thick of it
This Life
But I haven't seen Rev listed yet. I've just rewatched on Britbox. Tom Hollander and Olivia Coleman. Very funny

Alfaix · 24/02/2021 06:00

Northern Exposure. Old but utterly brilliant.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 24/02/2021 06:10

@grapewine I LOVED B5. It was fantastic

cortex10 · 24/02/2021 06:13

Un Village Français - watched it on Netflix about five years ago but never repeated as far as I'm aware. It was a drama set in a village in occupied France and ran for about seven series. I found it fascinating to see how ordinary lives were impacted by the war and the choices people had to make.

ChocOrange1 · 24/02/2021 06:15

You, me and the apocalypse
Only one series but we really enjoyed it.

Utopia
Sadly cancelled after two series, so you don't get to find out what happened. The first two are still worth a watch though.
There is an American version but it doesn't have the same feel at all. And the atmosphere and cinematography was what made Utopia special, not necessarily the story. Without that its just yet another end of the world drama.

BikeRunSki · 24/02/2021 06:18

@Wineloffa

Superstore. I have actually cried laughing at so many episodes.
Just discovered this, and am watching a few episodes every evening.
