Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

Denise we looove spaced. Have been fans of the main cast ever since! Quote from it often... especially if I eat twiglets. They make me violent. :o

SingToTheSky · 26/02/2021 10:33

I’m going to have to look up in treatment as that sounds like my kind of thing. Especially as I want to train to be a therapist myself but I definitely have issues 😂

That’s reminded me of a comedy I used to love with Caroline Quentin about a counsellor. Just looked it up - kiss me Kate.

I’m currently watching a mini series called The trouble with Maggie Cole before it disappears from itv hub - it’s got Mark Heap in it and it’s SO weird seeing him play a normal, sensible character! I adore him as Brian from spaced, Dr Statham from green wing, and Jim from Friday night dinner! This role could not be more different 😂

I've watched Stella and agree it's fabulous. No one has mentioned my choices yet.
Also loved watching The Flying Doctors

'Upright' on Now TV. Very very dark comedy series starring and written by Tim Minchin.

SingToTheSky · 26/02/2021 11:32

Oh I quite liked Clique as well. Must watch the second season

Localocal · 26/02/2021 11:56

Bosch
Detectorists
Crazy Ex Girlfriend
Queer Eye

Wallabyone · 26/02/2021 12:55

I adored Upright!

Dizzybet74 · 26/02/2021 13:02

Crashing - hilarious! A group of 20/30 something's living in an old hospital before it's demolished (officially, not as squatters). Phoebe Waller Bridge is one of the main characters and is just as hilarious as she is in fleabag. (I think I found it on more4).

warriors - an outstanding BBC drama set in Bosnia during the war. It must be about 25+ years ago now. It was brilliant and I just wish it was available on DVD or the BBC did a rerun.

We're loving Resident Alien too. First scripted comedy I've laughed out loud at for ages.[/quote]
I absolutely love it. We save it for Friday evenings so looking forward to tonight. The kid is a brilliant little actor too.

I also loved Upright I've seen mentioned. It was funny and endearing.

One of my favourite underrated shows was WayWard Pines. Great series with a monumental twist a couple of episodes in. It was meant as a one of series but due to its success they made another. Unfortunately the second wasn't based on the brilliant books that the first was and it fell flat for me.
The first series will always remain incredible.

QVCismyJam · 26/02/2021 13:20

Waves to @cordelia16 yep Chuck for us is a classic! Your list is basically what we've watched too Smile. We always say when going shopping "going to the Buy More" lol.

Have you tried?

Castle (with Nathan Fillion from Firefly and The Rookie tv series)? About a writer that follows a detective about and the cases they encounter. Sounds naff but is actually good. Can recommend it.

Also Covert Affairs is a good watch too. Dont know anyone who has seen it apart from my family though.

Orpheline · 26/02/2021 13:24

Animal Kingdom - Prime

Damages-Prime

Rosiesmydog · 26/02/2021 13:26

The casketeers. Kiwi program about Maori undertakers. True life, Utterly hilarious with loads of hakas and a running joke about leaf blowers

Rosehaven. Gentle Aussie comedy about two estate agents in Tasmania.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/02/2021 13:46

What channel is casketeers? Sounds worth it for the accents....

Two seasons on Netflix. We discovered it two years ago on holiday in NZ. There is a third season but I don’t think it’s dropped on Netflix yet
SleepingStandingUp · 26/02/2021 14:00

Ah ok I'll take a look when we get N back. I mean I like a same comedy but who doesn't like Hakkas and hot accents too

Smartiesmaltesers · 26/02/2021 14:25

The Wilds

I really enjoyed Staff Let’s Flats, it a comedy.

midsomermurderess · 26/02/2021 16:58

The number of people saying Detectorists suggests it was in fact hugely successful and widely watched, not some obscure find.
