What's your recurring dream?

Was reading another post and a few people said they regularly dream that they find a new room in their house so thought I'd ask what's your recurring dream and if you have looked into the meaning?

I used to dream about water but not in a nice calm way it was always massively choppy or huge tidal waves 🤷‍♀️

My more recent one (over the last few years) is that I've killed someone, I never kill them in my dream they are already dead but I definitely did it and I'm in a massive panic that I'm going to get caught! I've been driving with them wrapped up in carpet on my front seat or I've hidden them in the loft, it's absolutely terrifying!! Anyone else want to make me feel like I'm not an actual psychopath?!

When my DD was young, I used to have a regular recurring dream that her dad was trying to find us - I'd be desperately trying to hide her in cupboards or wardrobes, in the frantic knowledge that he was coming, it was terrifying and I'd wake up crying. For context I left him when she was 6/7 weeks old, he was abusive and went to jail for a couple of years not long after for something he did to somebody else. I had these dreams about once a month up until she was about 14, then I found out he'd died - never had one since.

@RiderGirl that must have been terrifying, glad you no longer get them and I hope your dreams are happier ❤️

I used to have a recurring dream that I had missed a really important train or was on the wrong train.

Sometimes being in very choppy seas.

Once (side topic) I slept in a beach hut and ACTUALLY woke up to find that I had indeed been surrounded by water as it had come inside the hut, as evidenced by the seaweed, because it did that on a full moon apparently. All night I had dreamt of lapping waves 😂 Honestly would have FREAKED out if I had woken up.

Teentitansonloop · 22/02/2021 20:57

Being back at school as a teenager. Everyone has left and I'm still there repeating my final year and resitting the same exams. I can't leave until I pass them. shudders

storminasnowglobe · 22/02/2021 20:58

I have a couple:
Helicopters (or occasionally) planes spinning out of control and crashing.

Trying to phone someone in an emergency but pressing the wrong buttons no matter how hard I try.

I've also had the discovering a "secret room" dream several times.

NickMarlow · 22/02/2021 21:09

When I was a teenager, I had a recurring dream about my teeth falling out.

The one that has persisted the longest is being in my Grandma's house, in the present day, and finding something we missed when we cleared the house after her suicide years ago. I can never remember what we found when I wake up, but there's always a sense of wanting to find something that made sense of all that trauma, and having missed it at the time.

Isababybel · 22/02/2021 21:16

I dream that i cant walk properly, like i literally cant put one foot in front of the other and have to do a weird skip (and i think that people will be looking at me and judging!) Have dreamed it weekly ever since I was young, its bizarre.
Also very frequently dream about being on a plane that's taxiing (sp?) not on a runway but in a residential street and im scared we cant take off and will crash.

Workinghardeveryday · 22/02/2021 21:18

New rooms in my house, always disappointed when I wake up!!! 😂

Okbussitout · 22/02/2021 21:19

When I forget my daily citalopram tablets I tend to have a dream about the end of the world or some kind of disaster.

CoffeeBerry · 22/02/2021 21:19

I have the finding an extra room in your house one and I also have a recurring nightmare that an evil presence is clinging to my back

DuckonaBike · 22/02/2021 21:21

I have the phone one storminasnowglobe! I think I read somewhere that it’s quite common.

I used to dream about spiders a lot before I had therapy for my arachnophobia. I don’t any more Smile

itshappened · 22/02/2021 21:22

I have dreamt so many times that I'm sitting my final exams at university and have done absolutely no work and can't answer the questions. What happens next can vary but it's always the exam failure dream.

ememem84 · 22/02/2021 21:22

I have a dream occasionally where there are three figures standing next to the bed. They wear long cloaks. And hoods. No idea what/who they are. But they just stand there.

sqirrelfriends · 22/02/2021 21:24

I often have a dream where my house isn't my house and my family isn't my family. Everything is different but dream me doesn't realise and just has a feeling that something is a bit off.

Also have a recurring dream about really massive trees. I'll come across one randomly, look up and it's about 1000 stories tall, stretching up forever. In my dream I get really freaked out about what happens when it's time for it to fall down.

cheeseisthebest · 22/02/2021 21:24

That I'm trying to get to a train station. Or driving and I'm always trying to get back to my childhood home.

PaolaNeri · 22/02/2021 21:25

My regular one is frantically trying to find a bathroom in a shopping centre (hidden) I have to brush my teeth and shower. Just recently I have been able to find one where both my toothbrush and toiletries were, but then this week it has changed and left me dream stressed again.

The other is an old house I lived in, patio sliding door never locks and this week surfaced again but this time was partly open, usually always at night.

Christ knows what it means, my head is full of stuff.

bearlyactive · 22/02/2021 21:29

I often get the calling 999 and doing everything wrong stuff. Dropping the phone, pressing two nines, four nines, asking for police instead of ambulance or vice versa. Makes no sense because when I have had to call 999 I've done it fine.

Similarly, ever since I had to do CPR in a real situation last year I get dreams about it. I can't remember anything about it, but I know it involves that.

DuzzyFuck · 22/02/2021 21:31

Quite often that I've got an appointment / flight booked / something time sensitive and I can't quite gather what I need together in time to be on time for it.

Occasionally about the spare room in my childhood home that was (too long a story to explain) haunted AF.

When I first met DP and was settling into happiness with him I dreamt vividly about every ex I've ever had in about a three week period. Weird Hmm

73kittycat73 · 22/02/2021 21:33

Hairy legs! I'm out somewhere and realise I haven't shaved my legs. If I get into the bath I find the razor is blunt.
I also have the phone one.

Devlesko · 22/02/2021 21:33

The waves are to do with feeling a loss of control and the fight to get through it.

MyFloorIsLava · 22/02/2021 21:35

The exam dream, as above.

I also dream that I'm spending time with my former close friend. We haven't spoken in years, she let me down badly when I had my first DC, but I do miss her still.

BobbitWormNightmares · 22/02/2021 21:36

Being late for something, usually work, and trying to run but just kind of doing a slow jog almost on the spot, no matter how hard I try. Very annoying

DuckonaBike · 22/02/2021 21:39

Blimey ememem are you Scrooge?

splishsplashsploshsplishsplash · 22/02/2021 21:41

I also have the dream where I can't walk properly!! I have it often, like I'm actually dragging myself along and everyone is looking at me strangely.

Harrykanesrightsock · 22/02/2021 21:41

I don’t remember the dreams themselves but I have a horrible intense feeling of loneliness when I wake up, the actual dream is quickly forgotten. I feel awful for days after and find it hard to shake.
