Not toe probs! Glad they're gone (the probs, not the toes).

I had a flare up of tonsilitus yesterday, which means being feverish for a while, then resting for a while and so on.

Nice breakfast of melted camembert on melted bread with tomatoes, then hazelnut truffles.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/03/2021 09:46

DH returned with 5 new experimental wheels - the excitement!!

Nydj · 20/03/2021 10:05

That’s an awesome breakfast @Frownette!

HelenaJustina · 20/03/2021 10:37

Careful @Prokupatuscrakedatus don’t overdo it!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/03/2021 10:58

@HelenaJustina
I am careful, I promise, DD will make sure I am. She is quite strict with me Smile.

Frownette · 20/03/2021 11:25

Lovely dd, Prok :)

I got dragged out last minute for someone's second jab, so I very grumpily went with matted hair. Not the picture of satorial elegance. Would have liked more warning.

Sunbird24 · 20/03/2021 12:01

I just had a scam phone call, automated voice claiming to be HMRC and saying they had a warrant for my arrest... yawn.
I’ve reported it through the HMRC website.

soddingkitten · 20/03/2021 13:10

I picked up a prescription earlier and bought some more vitamin D supplements. This COVID life is all thrills and spills.

In bored moments I call them back. I tell them my name is Ethel or Doris and that I am extremely worried about my impending arrest. I offer to send a cheque but that's never good enough, so eventually I give them my fake card number (prior to this I of course tell them I'm widowed, don't understand computers and have no family)

I like to imagine that while they're tied up with me, the real Doris is not being bothered Grin

Sobloodyexhausted · 20/03/2021 13:46

Champagneforeveryone Grin brilliant!

Sobloodyexhausted · 20/03/2021 13:51

Helped DS1 with homework on Islamic inventions including coffee and the toothbrush!

EggyPegg · 20/03/2021 14:06

I had the same call a couple of days ago. I usually hang up as soon as I hear the robotic voice, but hung on this time to her what they were trying to scam me for time

Champagne, that is excellent.

HildaTablet · 20/03/2021 16:58

We’re completely plagued by those wretched HMRC calls at the moment, and the BT broadband ones (we don’t have BT broadband...), and a few more.

When it’s a real person, DH likes to torture them a bit by encouraging them to go through their spiel at length, and asking them earnest questions. I tend to just quietly replace the receiver.

I used to get very angry on behalf of my late DM because the utter scum had got hold of her number and used to persecute her with constant calls. She knew they were scams but they used to call early and wake her up. I loathe them with a passion.

Frownette · 20/03/2021 17:10

Aw that's awful @HildaTablet.

We had quite a large lunch so we may just have a sandwich tonight. Bit tired and headachy.

Frownette · 20/03/2021 17:11

Well, you've taught me something too!
MissConductUS · 20/03/2021 17:25

Frownette, were you dragged out to give the jab or just accompany the patient?

I thought the toothbrush was invented in China.

Who invented the toothbrush and when was it invented?

The bristle toothbrush, similar to the type used today, was not invented until 1498 in China. The bristles were actually the stiff, coarse hairs taken from the back of a hog’s neck and attached to handles made of bone or bamboo.

DH bought quite an expensive Honda lawnmower today. It was a replacement for one he bought in 2003. The old one still worked, but parts on it keep breaking just from age. I had to reassure him that it was tired knackered and that with 18 years use, we had gotten our money's worth from it.

I'm not sure as the purchase of a lawnmower is entirely within the spirit of dull and unexciting miss Grin

In other news, DH has been to Tesco. This is part of an ongoing budgeting effort on my our part which has seen us ditch our Waitrose habit for the hallowed aisles of Tesco. DH (who has done the family food shop approximately 3 times in all the time we've been toy) decided that around 11am on a Saturday morning was an appropriate time to go.

He's still wearing a hunted look and keeps muttering "but it was so busy" Wink

Fair point, Champagne. In my defense, it looks almost exactly like the old one.

DH does most of our shopping. He goes to the warehouse club on his way home from work and the supermarket shop no later than 9:00 AM on Saturday.

I am happy to tell you, that the wheels fit the chair and it is back in working order.

Therainisback · 20/03/2021 18:53

I had my covid vaccine today. Also booked a campsite for late June/early July (that may be too exciting sorry)

Champagneforeveryone · 20/03/2021 18:53

Fair enough miss Grin though I still feel the purchase of a lawnmower falls into the exciting category. Must be my age

DH is not a natural shopper but we Have Had Words about me working 12 hour shifts and then still needing to go shopping. He decided to step into the breach rather than end up being clubbed to death with a carrot.

Excellent news on the wheels prok. Suitably dull

Frownette · 20/03/2021 20:22

Blimey had a right kerfuffle trying to get out of the supermarket earlier Confused

A bloke had upended 2 bags of clothes trying to find his money, so it looked like a jumble sale, he was swearing quite a lot and security were getting agitated, by the time I'd navigated my way past, security had started to shut the doors to keep him in and stopped anyone else from entering. I thought the guard wanted to keep me in as well and looked at him in horror but he said "not you love" and shoved me through the rapidly closing gap in the doors. Unfortunately he got me on the tender part of my back.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/03/2021 20:35

@MissConductUS
We need I think a new thread!
