After chuntering about it for approx 35 years, DS shaved my head for me today.

While DH wouldn't stop me, he has always been very resistant so we compromised with a grade 6. It is short but not massively so (for me) and I feel very anticlimactic Hmm

HelenaJustina · 15/02/2021 18:44

@Champagneforeveryone it sounds very short! Maintenance must be a cinch though...

HelenaJustina · 15/02/2021 18:46

DC2’s online Confirmation class is not having a half term break. An adult has to accompany the child and as I’m the Catholic parent that means I’ll be sitting in the kitchen hissing bits of the catechism at her when she gestures wildly that she has raised her hand on Zoom but doesn’t have an answer!

cabbagevan · 15/02/2021 18:47

@Champagneforeveryone that's brave. I have often thought of doing it but can't quite pluck up the courage; I like my newly discovered curls (I always had straight hair until a couple of years ago)

DoctorTwo · 15/02/2021 18:50

Put my expenses in the post, hope they get paid soon, my car insurance is due this week!

42isthemeaning · 15/02/2021 18:55

I picked up six dog poos from my grass which appeared once the snow melted. I don't have a dog. Sad

Champagneforeveryone · 15/02/2021 19:07

I know cabbage, I'm somewhat indifferent to what people say but for some reason I've never actually done it. I figured that it will be several weeks at least before hairdressers open, then the lovely Stephen only works two days a week so it could then be several more weeks before my shifts don't coincide with his work days. By that time I will look a bit shaggy, but I have absolute faith in the lovely Stephen to make everything dandy again

Ah well, too late now Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/02/2021 19:09

Helena
I feel for you - preparation for 1st communion always involved lessons for parents and the whole family. We had a book to work through.

It started snowing again.

starpatch · 15/02/2021 19:10

Thanks for asking miss conduct. The job is providing advice and support to people with physical disabilities. Working from home but you do get to go out and meet people in normal times. I am generally job hunting so I wont bore you all with all my applications. Posting on here is definitely an incentive to actually get on and do it though.

My son has discovered a young guy on you tube who chats while playing computer games. He is hooked and I am keeping him company on the sofa.

tapdancingmum · 15/02/2021 19:13

I don't know if this counts as boring but I hung some washing out today. Then sat on the sofa and cross stitched whilst binge watching Unforgotten.

Sunbird24 · 15/02/2021 21:12

Works for me @tapdancingmum!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/02/2021 22:32

@tapdancingmum
Did you colour coordinate your pegs?

tapdancingmum · 15/02/2021 22:34

I only have boring wooden ones 😁

halfpasteleven · 16/02/2021 00:17

@Champagneforeveryone I think you should feel very proud of your new hairstyle.
Thanks for the new thread @MissConductUS
Best of luck with the job hunt @starpatch
It has stopped raining here but is still very windy

MissConductUS · 16/02/2021 00:55

Welcome, @tapdancingmum, and thanks for sharing that perfectly mundane news. I'm now off to Google Unforgotten.

@42isthemeaning we currently have 30 inches of snow on the ground because it hasn't risen above freezing for so long that I have lost track. The abandoned dog poop is the part of early spring that I anticipate with extreme trepidation.

Another foot of snow has fallen over the course of today, with more snow forecast all night. I will definitely have to dig out my car tomorrow morning, and since they may get around to ploughing the alley while I'm at work I will put my shovel in my car because I'll have to dig myself back in when I come home too.

Well done on the Number 6 haircut, @Champagneforeveryone. That is my ultimate hair goal.

HelenaJustina your posts on FHC and Confirmation prep bring back memories of the day the sacramental prep homework was due Smile. I remember once driving back home through a blizzard after dropping DS off at his university, getting a frazzled call from DD4 who had to write a page on her understanding of the gift of wisdom. She was 13.5 at the time and understandably a bit stumped. I put her on speaker and we eventually got the homework done. It was nice to have something to focus on to banish thoughts of how it would feel to wind up upside down in the ditch. Anyway, just as we said goodbye (with me thinking it might be goodbye forever as conditions were atrocious) I saw the blinking light of a state DOT snowplough ahead, and I followed it for about 60 miles.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/02/2021 06:09

Temps are above 0 right now, this will either mean mud wherever you go or the stuff will thaw and refreeze, meh!

Having my first coffee in silence.

soddingkitten · 16/02/2021 08:36

Good! I have caught up with you all.

I am on leave today. I have a long list of things to do but am still in bed just because. If only DH would bring me some coffee, I could stay a while longer.

Champagneforeveryone · 16/02/2021 09:28

Bad news all.... DH has a cold Sad

Not just any cold though, on no. This one is "in his head" and has rendered him utterly incapable of going to work. He has not attempted to take any kind of pill or potion to aid this dreadful malady, nor made any efforts to get up and have a spot of breakfast, move about, see how it goes. You know, like normal adults do before taking to their bed like an Edwardian lady.

I may sound unsympathetic, but that is because I am Grin

Spudlet · 16/02/2021 09:30

Oh no. Not... the Dressing Gown of Doom?! 😱

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/02/2021 09:36

Is it one of those washable Turtle Mats, @Squirrel26? I’d love one of those for just inside the front door, but they’re all that bit too big. 🙁

I have one just inside the French doors to the garden - it’s brilliant, just sling it in the machine for a wash.

I did bestir myself to strip my chicken after all. We had cold chicken (with a sort of curried mayonnaise dip on the side), baked potatoes and salad.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/02/2021 09:41

Your dh reminds me of my FiL, Champagne. He would moan and groan loudly but flat out refuse to take any sort of medication for anything. Often enough to make anyone look wistfully at the patio and think it was high time it was dug out and a nice new one laid. 😈

Champagneforeveryone · 16/02/2021 10:02

@Spudlet

Oh no. Not... the Dressing Gown of Doom?! 😱
Oh no, no, no, he's far too ill to bedeck his carcass with a dressing gown. Lying down is all he can manage Hmm
Champagneforeveryone · 16/02/2021 10:04

On the plus side, the nice man at the garage totally forgave me for just not bothering to turn up yesterday, and my MOT is at 11am today.

soddingkitten · 16/02/2021 10:11

I’m on fire this morning. I made a tick list in Notes on my phone. I’ve already cleared 2 tasks that I’ve been procrastinating over for months. It’s the new ticky bullet points function, I swear. The satisfaction you get from ticking an item off is immense. I’m not usually a list person, but this is magic. (Apologies for the rousing post. Too exciting, maybe.)
