Good luck @Spudlet - if it’s anything like the application for DS’s statement of special needs in the day, it will be upsetting. I remember being advised to complete all forms on the basis of what it was like for DS on his ‘worst’ day and not on his ‘average’ day. That piece of advice stood us in good stead because when he was having a worse than usual day, no one was going to come and give extra help because he was struggling more than they had catered for in their plans.

Nydj · 16/03/2021 19:36

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

Helena I see, thank you, so it's sth like the DS's "Förderplan" and probably involves lots and lots of paperwork, forms and meetings, too.

I recently scanned and then shredded 125 pages of documentary e-mails from primary school.

Wow, that must have been very therapeutic!
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/03/2021 19:53

nydj - It certainly was!! But DS left primary 2 years early to start at a Gymnasium and that file still exists and grows.

soddingkitten · 16/03/2021 22:42

I had a stale Kitkat which I found in my rucksack with my lunch today. Still 6 months in date, but stale.

Sodding is asleep on my lap and keeps flinching in his sleep. Time for his spot-on flea treatment.

mathanxiety · 17/03/2021 03:53

Driving to work this morning, I saw two men in high viz getting out of a car. I was so excited I almost drove into a tree.

Then I realised they were crossing guards arriving for their shift at the middle school.

HelenaJustina · 17/03/2021 08:29

@mathanxiety that made me laugh out loud! Surely the exact opposite intention of high-vis!

HelenaJustina · 17/03/2021 08:30

Happy St Patrick’s Day everybody!

soddingkitten · 17/03/2021 08:35

Our boiler part has arrived at the local depot. 🎉🎉🎉 Now to arrange fitting. Our plumber is a gem so he’s trying to rearrange a job so he can get to us quickly.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/03/2021 09:11

sodding Yay to you and your plumber!

I sit in the surgeons waiting room, waiting....
I saw a neon of white and yellow striped high viz men

Spudlet · 17/03/2021 13:02

@Nydj Thank you Smile That’s what I’ve been advised too, make it about his worst day and not his best. It doesn’t feel good, but I’ll do it for my boy. It’s annoying in a way as many of the questions I have to answer are phrased in such a way so as to tell them what the child can do, which is all very well, but I think slants things too heavily towards ignoring the problems... I have made sure to put what he struggles with as well as the things he can do.

I got caught in the rain on my bike, I’ve been to see the physio for a therapeutic pummelling this morning and cycled there. While I was in there I could hear the rain on the roof.... so I wimped out and got DH to come and give me a lift home Grin

How exciting! 🤞🤞 for a speedy appointment and a new life of luxurious warmth for you all 🤞

I’m glad I’m not the only one waiting with baited breath to find out when @soddingkitten’s boiler will be fixed.

I am in the process of making this veggie chilli recipe that was recommended on another thread a few days ago. It’s looking promising although I had to add an extra tin of beans to take the edge off the saltiness - will put half a stock cube in next time instead of a whole one.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/03/2021 17:08

DD will do the cooking tonight (chicken, peppers and Italian noodles = pasta). DH got a Lamacun again.

I am a bit excited to see that the Hibiscus plant I got last year is budding again Smile

soddingkitten · 17/03/2021 17:26

We have heat! Our plumber also said that he doesn’t usually like cats but Sodding has changed his mind because he’s so friendly. Sodding really, really likes our plumber and wanted to help with the boiler repairs Grin, so I had to shut him in with me.

Sodding, that's wonderful news about your heat being back on. Sodding kitten has cast a kitten love spell on your plumber to enslave him in case this every happens again. Ours hide when there are strangers in the house, so he's a very brave boy.

Sorry I was off the thread yesterday. It was one of those days. In other news, there was a high vis yellow ladder setup on the floor outside my office as if someone had accessed the ceiling. This morning it was folded up, leaning against the wall. Now, like a migrating animal, it has departed for some other location. Smile

Hoorah for sodding's plumber Grin

DH has been hugged by many grateful (and freezing) women over his years as a heating engineer.

Sunbird24 · 17/03/2021 18:12

My boiler is kaput now 🤦‍♀️ Have sent my plumber a message to see if he can come and have a look

Ours was dodgy for all of last fall. It took them an age to find the fault and fix it.

It's practically an epidemic on this thread.

@soddingkitten Hooray! 👍👍👍👍

@Sunbird24 Nooooooooooooooooo 😱SadSadSad

Sunbird24 · 17/03/2021 18:21

I’ve got an electric fire in the living room so camping on the sofa, but with a medical appointment on Friday I REALLY need a shower before then...

Sunbird24 · 17/03/2021 18:51

Plumber coming tomorrow pm...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/03/2021 18:52

@Sunbird24
I do have a "procedure" for this type of boiler situation involving the electric kettle, two buckets and cold water, because our boiler tends to be temperamental side and I'd like to make a clean if not fashionable appearance in the office.

mathanxiety · 17/03/2021 19:14

Spending my national holiday filling out financial aid forms for DD3.

We're having pizza for dinner as St. Joseph's day in two day's time features better culinary options. Plus I forgot to take the pork shoulder out of the freezer.

forgetthehousework · 17/03/2021 19:29

Hurrah @soddingkitten and commiserations @Sunbird24.

I thought I'd make some bunting (properly, double fabric, top stitched etc) using scrap fabric, of which I always have masses. It looks very pretty but took absolutely ages and I am never going to do it again!
However I now have eight metres of bunting to put on the garden fence for Easter.
