I live in USA, have done for many years. There are certain things you just cant get here so since the rise of amazon, many years ago, I use them. I have just spent $46 for 4 packs of Bisto, $18 for 2 bottles of HP sauce and $12 for a jar of marmite.Oh and $27 for a 6 pack of baked beans. I cant be without baked beans. I cant get over how much they have gone up since last time I bought them, which was only a matter of months ago !!!. I had to unload the branston from my cart cos it was $32 for 3 jars and thank fck I noticed this but a multipack of frazzles ( My husbands favorite and a rare treat) was $8 a good deal thought I till I noticed they wanted $95 for shipping !!!!!!. Had to remove my colemans mint sauce too. I will buy that next month with the Branston.
I didnt even get to look at the chocolate hobnobs or custard creams cos my basket was too expensive before I even got there Sad

Wow, that’s all I can think to say!

BrandyTrap · 13/02/2021 00:26

Move back to the U.K. You'll save yourself a fortune!

idontlikealdi · 13/02/2021 00:27

Where are you buying? Walmart is cheaper than that!

FlibbertyGiblets · 13/02/2021 00:34

Do you not have someone UK based to post out quarterly parcels to you?

Trentgirl · 13/02/2021 00:35

Where are you? I can get those things quite a bit cheaper in Houston.

Beetle76 · 13/02/2021 00:39

And I thought $7 for a small marmite was expensive 😳

theoldtrout01876 · 13/02/2021 00:43

My walmart doesn't carry any of them, it carries mostly hispanic stuff where i am. Wegmans international Isle is so hit or miss and has had nothing Ive wanted for ages, plus very expensive. I used to get baked beans and bisto at the local supermarket ( though the beans were $2.99 a tin) but stopped as they didnt sell enough. I get them from amazon. Im in Mass

Where are you? I know a lot of those items are available at Publix near me and we also have a British store that sells all sorts of that sort of thing. For much much less. If you aren’t too awful far away, maybe they would ship?

elp30 · 13/02/2021 00:43

@Trentgirl

Where are you? I can get those things quite a bit cheaper in Houston.

I'm in Houston too and I don't spend nearly that much either.

KickAssAngel · 13/02/2021 00:47

Have you tried British Corner Shop? Uk based. They charge for shipping but I think they're cheaper.

I don't want to rub it in, but I'm in MI and can get all of those from several local stores, and custard powder. I pay just under$3 for beans. You've put me off moving to MA.

idontlikealdi · 13/02/2021 00:47

Do you know anyone who lives in a cheaper state who could ship in, cheaper than U.K. shipping!

Frownette · 13/02/2021 00:48

I don't mean to taunt you...but...I have a huge packet of custard creams right next to me! Actually I'd post them to you if they wouldn't get squished.

I thought there was a huge market for Brit foods in the US, is it not possible to get them cheaper locally?

MadCattery · 13/02/2021 00:48

Just checked the website. Prices listed and they ship. www.londonpride.com/

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2021 00:48

There's an online shop called the British corner shop which I thought was expensive but it's not as bad as those Amazon prices from the look of it. Don't know what the shipping cost is, but maybe worth a look.

theoldtrout01876 · 13/02/2021 00:55

I will check that out, Thank you. My local British shop closed but they were more expensive than amazon was at the time. Mass is a very expensive place to live so Im sure Id get things cheaper in other states but as I said up until this order I found amazon cheaper cos of the free prime shipping, but $95 shipping on a multipac of frazzles is really taking the piss. Love him hugely but $103 for 8 wee packets of frazzles ???? Sorry love, you are shit out of luck

OP posts:
Frownette · 13/02/2021 00:59

$103! Is there anyone in the UK who could bulk buy and post them to you? Not sure if that would work out cheaper or not and what customs laws are.

Time for reasearch, a spreadsheet and evaluating options.

rawalpindithelabrador · 13/02/2021 01:01

Cost Plus World Market has those much cheaper.

MadCattery · 13/02/2021 01:02

I don’t even know what Frazzles are, but this shop has them at $5.95 for an eight pack. And, their phone number is listed on the site so you can call and ask questions. I have a friend who loves Fairy dish soap, so I stop in there once in a while and always come out with other stuff, mostly stuff I hear about on MN! The people who run the shop are so nice, too.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2021 01:06

www.britishcornershop.co.uk/walkers-frazzles-8-pack?search=Frazzle%20&

$3.46, shipping costs don't look too bad but it's by weight min 1kg so you'd want to get a jar or two of Branson in the same order.

Stillfunny · 13/02/2021 01:10

There are a lot of Irish stores in Massachusetts , they may have some if what you are looking for especially Heinz beans.

MechantGourmet · 13/02/2021 01:12

Wow! Those prices are eye watering.
I need to get into the British groceries to USA market...

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2021 01:14

Do they really not have Heinz beans in the us anyway? Boston is the home of baked beans, I thought.

Frownette · 13/02/2021 01:16

It's funny to think of some standard things which you can get down the corner shop as being 'exotic' or difficult to source.

Like baked beans or custard creams have suddenly gone haute couture and only available to the more discerning palate. Like oysters' transformation in a way!

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 13/02/2021 01:16

I’m in Northern Canada and I can get most of that stuff locally, for a bit less. I say that because prices are usually high here because of the cost of transporting it so far North (5hr drive from Edmonton or 8 from Calgary).

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 13/02/2021 01:17

Tbf we have some american shops that sell chocolate and lucky charm cereal and nerds which are expensive.
Although hershey bard and reece chocolate can be got in most supermarkets in the uk now at same price as uk chocolate, my ds loves hershey bars ( not sure why)
