I live in USA, have done for many years. There are certain things you just cant get here so since the rise of amazon, many years ago, I use them. I have just spent $46 for 4 packs of Bisto, $18 for 2 bottles of HP sauce and $12 for a jar of marmite.Oh and $27 for a 6 pack of baked beans. I cant be without baked beans. I cant get over how much they have gone up since last time I bought them, which was only a matter of months ago !!!. I had to unload the branston from my cart cos it was $32 for 3 jars and thank fck I noticed this but a multipack of frazzles ( My husbands favorite and a rare treat) was $8 a good deal thought I till I noticed they wanted $95 for shipping !!!!!!. Had to remove my colemans mint sauce too. I will buy that next month with the Branston.
I didnt even get to look at the chocolate hobnobs or custard creams cos my basket was too expensive before I even got there Sad

I pay about 2 pounds in Aussie dollars for a small bag of Monster Munch

Backofthenet20 · 13/02/2021 06:34

We also have lived in the US. We tend to use British corner shop. It does $20 postage for 30kg of stuff. They do everything you listed. We found that Shoprite or Stop & Shop often stocked British food in an Irish isle. Jolly grub or best of British might be close enough to drive?

jendifer · 13/02/2021 07:18

Also came on to say I used to get a lot of it easily when living in NH. Smaller shops or world market. I remember a couple of shops in Boston too but they may have closed

SofiaAmes · 13/02/2021 07:19

World Market!!! They have all of that. It's more than in the UK obviously, but not crazy expensive.

SofiaAmes · 13/02/2021 07:20

And WorldMarket has the cutest crocheted bathmats on sale right now.

OnSilverStars · 13/02/2021 07:24

I'm American and live in the UK. It goes both ways! Loads of American things I miss that you can't get here h less you fork out

Have you tried the American vann camps baked beans? They're more tomatoey like British ones, not brown sugary like American ones. I think that have sausage in but worth a try?

Oh My God, Really ????
LunaLula83 · 13/02/2021 07:37

That's a bit sad to be honest. I miss tamtams chocolate bars in austrslia. Ooh just thinking about it! Nope I'm not going to buy in London Australian shop for £10. Just nope

georgarina · 13/02/2021 08:00

Ahh I'm from the US and I have the opposite problem. I would give anything for a box of Lofthouse pink cookies...and ranch dressing, and sausage egg and cheese biscuits, and cheese popcorn, and Progresso Light soup.

Some of which I can get online!

We should start an international exchange group lol.

TatianaBis · 13/02/2021 08:02

Why spend so much money on shit food. None of it is even nice.

I think you need a fry up love! Never fails to lift ones spirits Grin
Cam77 · 13/02/2021 08:07

I found that US supermarkets usually encourage BULK buying. Can you take out a small loan and buy a whole bathtub of marmite? Would probably save a fortune if you eat it everyday.

Dodie66 · 13/02/2021 08:20

Try this one www.britishfoodsupplies.com/. My son lives in the USA so I buy him items from shops like this. There are quite a few online
I don’t know where is Mass you are but there are a few if you do a google search. Here is one britsrus.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8o6qprbm7gIVitPtCh3_AwjcEAAYAyAAEgL9TfD_BwE

persistentwoman · 13/02/2021 08:34

Reverses up thread sausage, egg and cheese biscuits ??

Off to google!

thebestnamehere · 13/02/2021 08:38

@MadCattery

I don’t even know what Frazzles are, but this shop has them at $5.95 for an eight pack. And, their phone number is listed on the site so you can call and ask questions. I have a friend who loves Fairy dish soap, so I stop in there once in a while and always come out with other stuff, mostly stuff I hear about on MN! The people who run the shop are so nice, too.
Mate! You haven't lived! My advice, never try them as you will be hooked!!!!!!

More expensive than crack!

lighteincastlewindow · 13/02/2021 08:38

@georgarina I'm American and live in the UK. It goes both ways! Yes there are things I loved that I can never get again. Frozen yogurts sold in gallons, nutter butters, fudge cake (I can get it, but not as good) and the simplest things - crackers, they were round, with poppy seeds about 4 inches across and I can't remember the brand, so it does work both ways. Not to forget the takeaway pizza and if going for a Chinese (is it a Cantonese or Szechuan restaurant for example) oh my god the choice.

CraftyYankee · 13/02/2021 08:45

Girl Scout cookies! Thin mints... 😋

AnnaMagnani · 13/02/2021 09:01

This when I know I'm not properly English as my childhood food did not involve baked beans, Marmite, hobnobs, Bisto, mint sauce or Branston pickle.

Can happily live without all of them.

Frazzles though, mmmm....

Bedforme · 13/02/2021 09:05

Note that there are rules about exporting to America- not applicable if in small amounts and not commercial(unless other rules such as alcohol). Think this is just a commercial company so need to check

Hugoslavia · 13/02/2021 09:10

You bought Bisto?? Wow. I would move to The States just to get away from it!

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2021 09:31

I lived in PA for a couple of years around 1990. The thing we really missed was good cheese. We found an out of the way deli selling Stilton. It was ok at first, but then we realised we must be pretty much the only people buying it, as the wheel got older and older.

I couldn't find mango chutney, the other thing which baffled me was no Cadbury's Flakes. Why, in the country of wonderful ice cream flavours and myriad toppings, hadn't someone spotted the gap in the market and imported them to make 99s possible?ConfusedGrin

JosephineBaker · 13/02/2021 09:45

When we left Canada my Mum’s friend would post her sachets of Swiss Chalet sauce.
When I was an au pair in Europe Mum posted me Yorkshire Tea care packages.

It’s funny the things you pine for.

Chemenger · 13/02/2021 09:52

When I lived in Boston a couple of years ago you could get Heinz baked beans in Roche Brothers. Star Market had HP sauce. I don’t buy bistro or marmite but I have a feeling I saw marmite in Wholefoods (which also stocks Bonne Maman marmalade much to my DH’a delight).

Haha 'biscuit' meaning like a savoury scone...with sausage, egg and cheese in the middle...terrible, but a guilty pleasure.
persistentwoman · 13/02/2021 10:17

Yup - I discovered that it's the 'sausage and egg mcmuffin' - my guilty pleasure Blush

Northernsoullover · 13/02/2021 10:47

When I lived in Spain, despite all their amazing food I suddenly had a craving for pork pies and super noodles (not together). Family used to stock up before visiting and bring them over in a cool bag. I don't think I have ever eaten them since. Not the pork pies anyway! I still love super noodles but I have a gourmet version with parmesan on them.
