I don’t think I’ll ever hear of a baby Gary.

I know two adult Gary’s and both are in their 50’s now

@183fredamarleymum

Freda my name.
Oh I can see the hipsters going for Freda in a big way. In the same vein as Greta and Margot.
Incyra · 11/02/2021 14:11

@ReggieKrait

Gary, Brian, Kevin, Shane, Ian, Derek, Kenneth, Hector
I think Hector is making a comeback, I know a couple children called it.
LadyCounterblast · 11/02/2021 14:11

Connie
Bernard
Quentin
Lola
Roland
Derek
Cliff
Marjorie

I was going to say Brian but it appears I'm wrong on that one.

@HerBigChance

I heard a toddler being called Peter when I was out the other day. Nice name, but very rare on a young child I'd imagine.
If DD2 had been a boy, she’d have been Peter. I think it’s due a revival.

I wanted a Narnia name. Had to compromise and name her after one of the actresses instead Grin

Soubriquet · 11/02/2021 14:14

Lola and Connie are both names I know. Both 7/8 year old girls

I know a younger Lola too

I know a couple of young teenage Hectors, also a Connie and a Quentin.
I don’t think Myra, Asaph, Enid or Edna will return.

Lesserspottedmama · 11/02/2021 14:17

There’s a boy in our village called Gary. He’s about 8 I reckon.

Nearly everything will come back around in the end. Agree that it’s hard to imagine with some like Sharon.. I watched the original Disney ‘parent trap’ recently with the DC and they thought it was hilarious one of the girls was called Sharon.

Lesserspottedmama · 11/02/2021 14:19

Gosh yeah, Marjorie. Cannot for the life of me imagine that one coming around again.

Lesserspottedmama · 11/02/2021 14:20

I know two Freida’s.. is Freda pronounced the same?

frippit · 11/02/2021 14:22

Roy or Royston
Betty
Clifford
Sandra
Leanne

CoffeeRunner · 11/02/2021 14:22

I get to see names of newborn babies at work. I was dealing with a Humphrey and an Alvin today Grin.

PPs are right. Names seem to come back around. 10 or 20 years ago I wouldn’t have believed we’d start seeing baby Bert or Mavis again. Yet here we are.

TheFormidableMrsC · 11/02/2021 14:23

Gladys. Barry.

Zoomzoom90 · 11/02/2021 14:25

Gillian. None in 2019

Tal45 · 11/02/2021 14:25

Larry. Yuck.

Adolf I get but why is Myra so unusable

People use Joseph and Rose. What is so different about Myra that it can’t be used?

Myra Hindley, Britain’s most hated woman?

I can! I think its pretty
Butterymuffin · 11/02/2021 14:26

Myra is so unusable because Hindley is the only well known one. In contrast Rose West is only one of many well known Roses. Same with Ian. Though it might be recoverable in a few more decades.

Eunice. Doris. Horace. Nigel.

MirandaWest · 11/02/2021 14:28

Edna. My granny was Edna and that one doesn’t seem to have had a resurgence. Unlike my Nana, who was Ivy.

I wonder if names of my mums generation like Patricia, Linda, Janet, Susan etc will come back? My mum is 71 now so I suppose sort of old. Ish.

TheFormidableMrsC · 11/02/2021 14:29

I know a baby Walter. I quite like it

lovablequalities · 11/02/2021 14:30

I think it depends where you live. Round here Donald, Colin, Norman are still popular. I know young children with all of these names.

Myra will stay unusable until Myra Hindley is forgotten.
Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 11/02/2021 14:31

Samantha, iv seen one sammy, but no Samantha's for a long time.

PubsClosed · 11/02/2021 14:32

Definitely never say never. Baby names I’ve heard recently - Percy, Maude, Mabel - I would never have imagined 20 years ago would have been revived.

I predict baby boomer names will be back in fashion soon enough. We’ll have little Carol/Anne/Susan/Gillians around.

I know a little Kevin Grin.
