I don’t think I’ll ever hear of a baby Gary.

I know two adult Gary’s and both are in their 50’s now

I know a one year old Valentine. On our walk today we went round a Victorian cemetery and I saw an Egbert and an Osbert.. I can't imagine them coming back.

@oldwhyno

It'll be a while before people are ready for Dick and Fanny again I reckon.

See, that cracks me up too! It's hilarious. Malcolms aren't babies, Malcolms are all born as florid-faced 55 year old Rotarians who refer to 'my good lady wife', play golf and vote UKIP.
Pluas · 12/02/2021 18:42

@Ostagazuzulum

Fanny. You'd hope it doesn't get revived.
But it's used quite commonly in France, where it doesn't have genital connotations. The actress who plays the young agent Camille Valentini in Call My Agent/Dix Pour Cent is called Fanny Sidney, and she was born in 1987.
MissingDietCoke · 12/02/2021 18:44

I have a 5yo Leonard. Nothing but positivity from my friends, but my parents and Grandparents HATE his name! Think that pretty much sums up a lot of these theories. What seems awful/common etc to us 80s babies is probably what our own grandchildren will be called.

Malcolm
Brian
Colin

Always remind me of people you wouldn’t wanna be stuck in a lift with

HideTanner · 12/02/2021 18:47

There's no way I'd give my child a name that meant vagina in any country in the world. Even if it was only used in San Marino or in Liechenstein pop.763.

There must be French Fannies living in the UK and the snorts and sniggers their name elicits must get very old.

MachineBee · 12/02/2021 18:47

My great Aunty Frances married Uncle Richard. Only thing is they were both known to my DDad as Aunty Fanny and Uncle Dick. Oh and Uncle was the town registrar and he signed my DMum’s birth certificate so her married name was on her birth certificate.

momtoboys · 12/02/2021 18:48

Janet.

Colin is very popular in the US. Brian not so much but not too many years ago it was very popular.

Trevor is popular in America too. You see handsome 20-something Trevors on American TV shows. Cool Trevors. It's most discombobulating.
