I don’t think I’ll ever hear of a baby Gary.

I know two adult Gary’s and both are in their 50’s now

I quite like Deidre when it’s pronounced Deer-druh, rather than the Coronation Street Deer-dree.

midsomermurderess · 11/02/2021 21:48

Stewart is like to have some enduring appeal inScotland.

I meant Deirdre...

Also, haven’t heard of any Basil’s since Basil Fawlty (or Brush)

LynetteScavo · 11/02/2021 21:52

I know a 4 year old Daphne.

I also know a young Claude who totally rocks his name.

I know a young Bryan (that spelling) and quite a few Hectors.

I think it will be a while before we see any babies called Sheena, Janice, Barry, Nigel

I think the next wave will be the "prettier" 60s/70s names for girls: Melanie, Claire, Stephanie, Susannah, Deborah, etc and for boys, 60s/70s again: Lawrence, Christopher, Evan, Neil, etc. TBH, apart from Adolf, Myra and anyone other evil entity who comes along, and any name that gets your voice activated speaker going like Alexa, anything could come back!

My 14 year old DS has a friend called Stuart - also my DH name, but he’s 49! I taught a Shirley last year - she is Chinese and that’s the English name the parents chose!

Minty82 · 11/02/2021 22:27

Surprised by whoever it was (MrsKoala?) who said they didn’t know any Lucys under 30. I think of that one as genuinely timeless - I know quite a few little ones but plenty of adults too.
