What names do you think will never be revived?

I don’t think I’ll ever hear of a baby Gary.

I know two adult Gary’s and both are in their 50’s now

Some of these names are really attractive and it’s only the connotations that makes them off-putting. I think Tracy, Sharon, Mavis, Ian and Brian sound lovely. Some just don’t, like Derek or Nigel.

I’ve met a little girl called Doris, and I know of babies called Frank, Ronnie and Ernie. I actually quite like Maud as well

I do think Dorcas would be lovely for a cat.

Dorcas is the name of the type of old housekeeper/old farmer's wife type who'd feed the Famous Five hearty high teas.

When I was at school in the 90’s there were loads of girls called Emma, Sarah, Gemma, Laura, Amy and Claire and boys called Craig, Lee, Darren, Jamie, Matthew, James Paul and Richard.

I do love the name Jeff for personal reasons but I've never met a baby Jeff.

Doreen, Maureen and Doris for girls.

Maud is really trendy!!

Doris is getting more fashionable as well.

I’ve taught a Myra in recent years (primary school).
I think the names like Chardonnay may be gone for a while.

Because of Myra hindley, the child murderer.

My DD (9) has Barbara as a middle name. DH insisted, after his DGM. I was against it but since then have heard of no less than 3 little Barbaras amongst our acquaintances and friends-of-friends. I never thought it would make a comeback but it seems to be happening.

And if Barbara is back it's only a matter of time before we start seeing Susan, Beverley, Doreen, Hilary, Jean, Geraldine, Valerie, Marlene, Dorothy...

I remember being horrified that a friend was calling her youngest Herbie. I thought it was hopelessly outdated and was embarrassed for the poor kid. Within a year you couldn't move for little Herbies, and their friends Alfie, Archie, Albie and Dougie. So nothing is impossible. All names will come back eventually.

I've noticed some Eastern European families around here sometimes pick names that seem a bit dated now (to me at least) my DS's best friend is called Kevin, he's 6

I don't think Bertha will ever come back. Sorry Granny.
