Oh thanks @smallandimperfectlyformed sorry @justasking111 that must be frustrating... sounds like a bit of denial about the severity of her condition.

Gratefulrunner · 12/02/2021 21:55

Ironing face masks is impressive!
I have actually washed a load of ours tonight, not sure when they last got done

DrRamsesEmerson · 12/02/2021 23:05

I wear silk ones (anything else brings me out in hideous spots) and sling them in the wash with other delicate laundry. The same one stays in my bag for a week, then I swap it at the weekend. I'm not kidding myself that they make any difference at all to transmission.

Iheartmysmart · 12/02/2021 23:12

Bloody hell! I don’t even iron clothes, in fact I’m not sure where the iron is.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/02/2021 00:15

I've never washed a mask...
I started trying with my buffs (so not technically a mask Wink ) That didn't go well, so I ended up with visors. I even struggle with them so since the scratching my face to bleeding incident last month, I've begun doing the food shop bare faced. I've still got the deepest marks left on my cheeks.

I think a lot of it is sensory and the more I move, the worse my reaction is. I've begun hyperventilating quickest when I've been walking prior to going into the shop/ kiosk/ pharmacy. I have coped with the buff when lying still at the osteopath and it's quiet and I can zone out.

The trouble is I walk to move and get somewhere. I'm not much of a moocher!

BogRollBOGOF · 13/02/2021 00:22

I've had a good day today. The sun's been out, the mud is frozen, the DC's are on half term, so I've had a good run. Several signs of spring out there. Smile

Second time this year I've felt alive, the first being when we went sledging last month. A great change from the continual numbness.

LadyCounterblast · 13/02/2021 08:33

@MercyBooth I find Tony Chocolonely highly variable. Some of them are lovely, others downright peculiar.

justasking111 · 13/02/2021 09:24

I fold my masks into a spectacles case which I keep in my handbag. Keeps them safe and clean.

justasking111 · 13/02/2021 09:28

Yesterday DIL went to park with six year old, was bright and cold, bumped into two of grandson school mates. Now said mum's wore masks, a police car cruised up and down a number of times watching them. The children played happily, the mums were annoyed, they weren't breaking any rules, but it cast a shadow over the innocent enjoyment .

I haven't carried a handbag, or worn a bra since March. Grin
ISaySteadyOn · 13/02/2021 09:31

I wear a sports bra for my online dance class (highlight of my week) but other than that, I take or leave it.

wanderings · 13/02/2021 09:54

I see lots of "happy spin" in the papers this morning. Did the government toss a coin to decide which way they were going to do the spin today?

Worldgonecrazy · 13/02/2021 10:33

Silk masks can probably take more abuse than cotton. I remember DD had silk nappy liners (yes they are a thing used by lentil weaving mothers)and they had amazing anti microbiobe properties. I used them as cleaning cloths too and they never got that musty smell you get if you leave a damp cloth scrunched up and forget about it.

ISaySteadyOn · 13/02/2021 10:37

I always felt terribly guilty as a lentil weaving mother because my dyspraxia meant that reusable nappies were nearly impossible for me.

Anyway, wish me luck on DMing (anyone who knows what I am talking about) for my whole family. The party will be searching for a lost puppy 🐕

MaudesMum · 13/02/2021 10:50

Some sanity has just prevailed in my town. Weekly markets - now just down to food/petfood and other "essentials" - were cancelled or severely curtailed about a month ago across the district because the District Council was re-deploying the staff responsible to vaccination hubs. Petitions, Town Councils involved etc etc - all pointing out that its much safer to shop outdoors than in the supermarkets, and that it would put more small traders out of business. Markets now reinstated, and I went down today to shop outside in a safe but friendly way. Bloody freezing, mind, but that's not their fault!

I only have two comfortable masks, so there's usually one in a pocket and one in the wash. The little bits of metal that mean they fit round the nose have long since broken and been replaced by those ties you use for freezer bags, and on a good day I remember to take them out before throwing the mask in the washing machine.

I’m worst mother ever right now. Kids due at their dads in an hour. I haven’t even got out of bed yet. I can’t bloody move my back is shot to pieces and I’m drained of energy because I’m scared about food because i SWEAR this medication is giving me a ‘funny tummy’ if you know what I mean. Argh. Help me move. Give me motivation. I even missed the post, think I got a red card. Argh. I just couldn’t face it. No idea what it could be. I want to run fast and yet I can’t even move my own legs.

DWPmisery1972 · 13/02/2021 11:01

Oh and one of the little cherubs decided to wet the bed at 2am so I had to deal with that shit. I’m so wrecked

LivinLaVidaLoki · 13/02/2021 11:03

Strange that this is only just being mentioned....people have been saying this for months and been shot down as pollyannas.....

Said this from the beginning, covid cases in hospital really high, Ditto nursing home, SAGE have now agreed with this

Hmmm budget is soon. They want to get schools open again. The economic shit storm is looming 🤔

Maybe they realise that there are large groups of people who were already anxious and have now been terrified to leave their homes as they WILL die. Those people will take a lot of persuading that actually they were low risk all the time.

Oh my god that makes me so angry! How many of us have raised the point of Covid spreading within hospital settings over there compared to the risk of having a picnic in the park with another family or meeting my mum for a cup of tea to be ignored or told that we don't know what we're talking about?! RAGE!!

justasking111 · 13/02/2021 11:57

Neighbour still at home, son come up emergency pack being put together. Friend was with her yesterday she's ex NHS. Paramedics said if they took her in she would almost certainly get covid. So home care it is

AcornAutumn · 13/02/2021 12:02

Samuel it was mentioned over there last night as brand new information.

There was also a possible troll on there late last night, evidence remains on a "moaning about rule breakers" thread. Wanted years of lockdown, suggested we all hang out in our gardens (!), get a hobby, take taxis instead of public transport.
