Some sanity has just prevailed in my town. Weekly markets - now just down to food/petfood and other "essentials" - were cancelled or severely curtailed about a month ago across the district because the District Council was re-deploying the staff responsible to vaccination hubs. Petitions, Town Councils involved etc etc - all pointing out that its much safer to shop outdoors than in the supermarkets, and that it would put more small traders out of business. Markets now reinstated, and I went down today to shop outside in a safe but friendly way. Bloody freezing, mind, but that's not their fault!
I only have two comfortable masks, so there's usually one in a pocket and one in the wash. The little bits of metal that mean they fit round the nose have long since broken and been replaced by those ties you use for freezer bags, and on a good day I remember to take them out before throwing the mask in the washing machine.
