@thefallthroughtheair

TooManyPlates That makes me hanker for the days of 7pm bedtimes! I actually prefer parenting older DC overall - I found babyhood and toddler hood just really really hard - but oh for an evening to myself/ourselves. Instead, now it's 10pm and by 10.15 I'm knackered!
Yes! Eldest is still up and bout to be really annoyed when I kick him off his xbox so I can dance around the living room. Grin
Iheartmysmart · 18/02/2021 19:35

Mine’s 18 now and more likely to drink my beer! Luckily there were a couple hiding in the back of the fridge. He kind of ambles round, leaves loads of laundry, eats and drinks everything in sight, torments the dog then buggers off to his dad’s to play on his Xbox until the early hours. I miss the whole bath, milk, teeth and story routine from when he was little.

NannyGythaOgg · 18/02/2021 19:43

Mmmm Halloumi, otherwise known as squeaky cheese

I've just got myself some

Iheartmysmart · 18/02/2021 19:46

That’s exactly how it’s referred to here and green beans are squeaky beans - although that might just be the way I cook them!

TabbyStar · 18/02/2021 19:50

Luckily there were a couple hiding in the back of the fridge.

That confused me for a moment! Grin

Iheartmysmart · 18/02/2021 19:54

Ha! Sorry Tabby. I needed a couple of beers to counteract the halloumi, usually DS drinks them all. I don’t keep random couples in the fridge honestly.

SirSamuelVimes · 18/02/2021 20:14

Dammit, I was perfectly content with the chicken curry I'd made but now I want halloumi!!

110APiccadilly · 18/02/2021 20:20

Mmm... halloumi. I'm going shopping tomorrow. Haven't had halloumi in ages (partly because DH isn't a massive fan, but I may have to get some).

I hope you've all seen and enjoyed the story about the man who was invited for a vaccine because the NHS thought he was 6cm tall.

TabbyStar · 18/02/2021 20:21

Now that would be taking lockdown too far ... (though probably still not far enough for some people!)

Bollss · 18/02/2021 20:42

I love halloumi. Fed it to ds once and I've never seen someone look so disgusted Grin

I just love cheese in general tbh.

Pleasedontdothat · 18/02/2021 21:04

I’ve been MIA so missed whatever our visiting windup merchant had to say ..
probably a good thing.

I’ve had a nasty stomach bug (not coronavirus, other viruses are still available Confused). I also had my first vaccine yesterday as part of the mix and match trial. The virus combined with vaccine reaction has completely floored me today - I feel like all my stuffing has been removed and it’s taken me ages to summon up the energy to get up off the sofa. I’ve been asleep for most of the day so can’t go to bed too soon ...

I hope everyone else is ok - @DWPmisery1972 fingers crossed your UTI buggers off quickly

And has anyone heard from @jourdain11? I hope she’s doing ok

@iheartmysmart yes, I think I actually find that routine even more comforting than they do at the moment. Little ones all clean and snuggled and sleepy with milk and stories...
BogRollBOGOF · 18/02/2021 21:08

I was turning the last lights off at midnight earlier this week. I went to turn off "wet hands" the minecraft music that we play outside DS1's door, and a little voice exclaimed "hey!"
I ended up reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to him until nearly half past 12.
They've always been night owls, but the past year has sent them nocturnal.

When they go to school, they need to be up by 8, so they do get the sleep they need, and in a world of averages, some poor bugger's going to get the offspring that need less sleep than average. They're happy (usually), healthy and energetic.

He must have been a Borrower Grin
smallandimperfectlyformed · 18/02/2021 21:27

Pleasedontdothat I hope you feel better soon. I felt dreadful after my vaccination but aside from still not being able to sleep on my left arm I am completely better and have been more or less since Monday evening. I bought halloumi yesterday, funny how so many of us love cheese (it is wonderful that's why!!)

ISaySteadyOn · 18/02/2021 21:47

I developed a lactose intolerance during the beginning of lockdown (I don't believe we've ever been out tbh) so no more real halloumi for me Sad but I used to really love squeaky cheese

MrsEWeatherwax · 18/02/2021 22:29

I might go shopping again. I’m getting more anxious, when I was driving to the supermarket today a police car was behind me and I was terrified they were going to stop me and ask why I was out of the houseBlush How sad is that.
God, I miss wondering around the shop and stopping to have a cappuccino and cake and watching the world go by. It’s the little pleasures.

Glad you said you are anxious re police cars. Our olde sweet Shoppe said they would open in half term, wanted to get some treats for grand children, had to work out a reason why I was going into town, decided on butchers there. OH thought I was a bit mental. But every day local groups are telling tales of being told off, fined for being in a car rather than on foot to walk their dogs. ONe old bitch is standing in her flat window and phoning police daily if she thinks cars parked up on the road leading down to the riverside do not belong there and the police keep turning up.
Curlygirl06 · 18/02/2021 22:58

Laid in bed with my grandson, listening to harry potter, the little bugger won't go to sleep! Every time I think he's asleep and I try to sneak out, he asks me where I'm going. Go to sleep!

DWPmisery1972 · 18/02/2021 23:25

A clever me in the past bought antibiotics in case of emergency for a UTI- so I’m pissing with minimal pain and I can flush my toilet... double whammy wohoo! Also I took some of my morphine to take away the agony and it made me hungry so IVE EATEN ASWELL

Did someone mention halloumi? I like mine with sweet chilli sauce if there’s any going begging 😁

Lots of love to everyone and thank you for the get well messages- my mans been giving me the sachets and I’ve been taking the pills so I think between us we’ve cracked it... thank fuck he’s here or I’d probably just be rolling around the floor weeping while the cats begin to chew at my carcass... 🤣

DWPmisery1972 · 18/02/2021 23:26

@DWPmisery1972 I'm glad you're feeling a bit better with your antibiotics. UTIs are the worst.

On the mention of sweet chilli sauce with halloumi, I made my own sweet chilli sauce with chillies I had grown. I couldn't do much else with them because they are so incredibly hot. I should have used all my pandemic gloves while chopping them though because my hands felt like they were on fire for the next few hours.

Just got back from A&E. DD again with problem she had last year, she's okay. We stopped off at the all night M&S on the way home for treats and I've just eaten breakfast then going back to bed (she woke me at 2am). It's just like the old days getting back from clubbing then sleeping the morning!
