I had chicken pox when I was 18 and it was horrible. And I remember it was when take that split up (for the first time), just to add to my woes!

Dh had it a few years ago when the DCs got it. He had one night of being really unwell, but was able to get some drugs from gp as he is t1 diabetic which seemed to sort home out quickly

Blobby10 · 18/02/2021 13:43

My DD had it aged 2 - she was really ill. Sky high temperature and then got a secondary infection on her face. Poor baby looked like the elephant man and ran away from her reflection - she still bears the scars 20 years later Sad Her brothers had had the infection before she was born and neither were particularly poorly.

Taswama · 18/02/2021 15:44

Sceptic here.

Iheartmysmart · 18/02/2021 15:53

I caught chickenpox from my sister. She had about 3 spots and wasn’t unwell, I was covered in spots, was really ill and still have bad scarring on my face.

Ex DH caught it from DS, in 26 years together that is the only time he was bedridden due to being ill - well apart from hangovers!

GrrrrrrArghhhhh · 18/02/2021 16:12

2 weeks after my twins born, both they and I caught chicken pox from toddler DS... now Ex DH was away for a fortnight in the US for work and my DM had just returned home ( and back to work). I was lucky and had no complications but felt absolutely awful... thankfully DM had a very understanding employer and she was able to turn tail and come back and help me out...

TBH I was so out of it I have only vague memories of the time...

DWPmisery1972 · 18/02/2021 16:51

There was a rat in the outflow pipe Hmm water company have cleared the blockage so we’re back to business as usual now.

HOWEVER

I now have a UTI! Yay! Anyone wanna swap urethras with me? I’m currently sitting on the toilet willing myself to piss and have taken antibiotics... I don’t even have the energy to cry about it.

Iheartmysmart · 18/02/2021 17:08

Blimey @DWPmisery1972 you are really going through it at the moment aren’t you! I hope you fell better soon Flowers

Iheartmysmart · 18/02/2021 17:09

No please don’t fell... I’d rather you feel better! Bloody predictive text!

smallandimperfectlyformed · 18/02/2021 17:09

Oh no bless you DWPMisery1972 UTI's are horrible. I hope you do manage to wee without too much pain. Glad they have sorted out your neighbours overflow problem, especially after how horrible some people connected to that were to you yesterday

justasking111 · 18/02/2021 18:06

Chemists and some supermarkets do sachets which taste like ribena when mixed with water, I now keep those in for cystitis. If you can get some @DWPmisery1972 do. Will help in the interim.

BogRollBOGOF · 18/02/2021 18:21

Oh you really are in the wars DWP Flowers
UTIs are tough enough without the rest of it.

Drove off to do a flat long run today. Parked at the supermarket and realised that I really did need to use their facilities before starting. If you'd have told me this time last year that I'd end up sitting in the car trying to consider the logistics of walking 10m into my usual shop to use the only toilet facilities on an 8 mile loop, I'd have thought you were bonkers. I just used to pop in at mile 7, go to the loo, buy a can of coke/ red bull and a bag of crisps and recharge for miles 7-10 up hill to home, and it was a treat. I did go in with my face bare. I've still got marks on my face from where I scratched my skin off last time I wore the visor, and triggering a panic attack/ hyperventilating just before a long run really isn't a smart idea.
It's horrible how much social confidence I've lost for doing mundane stuff, and the more the masks and distancing drags out, the more there is to recover.

I was in there late yesterday evening for the food shopping. I've started taking one DC to get them out, get them a little treat, and it's just nice having them to chat to which stops my brain chuntering off to itself.

I wasn't an anxious person before last July, well only for the usual big stuff like job interviews.

thefallthroughtheair · 18/02/2021 18:28

God save me, I'm so angry, I've been 'over there' today. Why. Tell me to stop!

So I'm going to give 'Tona' mayonnaise a go tonight... Tinned tuna mayo without the tuna and instead some weird veggie stuff.
That's my exciting news of the day.
Alternatively, all veggie and vegan recipes gladly received. Smile

CoffeeWithCheese · 18/02/2021 18:55

Aaaah I see we have visitors again. Remember to be polite and not fall for it.

Anyone going anywhere nice this weekend? Kitchen? Perhaps living it up a bit in the garden shed? (which sounds dodgier than it should be)

thefallthroughtheair · 18/02/2021 18:55

Oh god DWP it never rains but it pours. Get well soon.

thefallthroughtheair · 18/02/2021 18:56

Coffee.
I'm taking my DD for a walk. It's so exciting I don't know what to do with myself Wink

SirSamuelVimes · 18/02/2021 18:58

He he the garden shed does have some unfortunate connotations doesn't it! Wink

Iheartmysmart · 18/02/2021 19:10

I’m having roasted vegetables with halloumi for dinner which means a beer to two to counteract the salt.

This weekend I might clip the dog as he’s a bit woolly. If it gets really dull I might iron the jumper that’s been hanging on my bedroom door since October.

thefallthroughtheair · 18/02/2021 19:12

Oooh I love halloumi.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 18/02/2021 19:14

Get well soon @DWPmisery1972 Flowers

Just got the youngest two into bed and preparing to embark on 45 mins of 80s style aerobics (complete with 80s soundtrack) in my living room. I have discovered Frame on demand and am loving it. Loads of cool classes and, frankly, nothing better to do. Grin

I should add, I think Frame are offering one 80s aerobics class for free. If anyone is interested I will post the link here... You don't need a huge amount of space to do it and it's good fun. God knows what my neighbours think though.

thefallthroughtheair · 18/02/2021 19:25

TooManyPlates
That makes me hanker for the days of 7pm bedtimes! I actually prefer parenting older DC overall - I found babyhood and toddler hood just really really hard - but oh for an evening to myself/ourselves. Instead, now it's 10pm and by 10.15 I'm knackered!

thefallthroughtheair · 18/02/2021 19:27

Also having a beer with dinner is just not the same when there's DC around. There was something about coming downstairs at 7.30 and heading for the fridge for something lovely and alcoholic!
