@BogRollBOGOF

DS2 has played with another child for the first time since 17 Dec. Well other than DS1, but DS1 likes things to be on his own terms and it's not healthy or balanced for it to be DS2's sole relationship with another child.

As soon as random kids saw them with the football, they flocked, FLOCKED out of the playground to the mud zone Grin

Children need children.

That sounds lovely. The way it should be for kids.

Well the mortgage company won't lend us enough to buy the house we want. Shit times just keep coming don't they.

Don't know what to do now.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/02/2021 13:16

Hopefully this will bring a smile here.....

So sorry @trustthegenegenie
@bakingcupcakes I fucked it up. I’m just an idiot. Same old me. I set like 3 alarms so I’d remember but I haven’t eaten in so long I started doing housework and didn’t see my phone ring (I keep it ok silent - typical bloody millennial). Anyway I rang the woman back and she offered me another appointment and then she started asking me some questions and I just freaked out on her and I sound like a total dick because she sounded all posh and came across like she was judging me I know I’m a fucking reverse snob so I just said I’m sorry for wasting your time have a good day and hung the phone up and now I’ve lost my only chance at getting help and now I’m going to die from this and I’m so scared and I’m such a fucking IDIOT
Keeping your phone on silent was not a millenial thing my OH does it he is an old fart. It was self sabotage, which you at least recognise. You have to decide if you do want to eat or starve. You need outside help for this. Can you e-mail them or contact them another way.

Shared this on another thread but thought you'd appreciate it here too

My family in Greece are reporting now that a lot of the hotels that remained closed last year are having their contracts fulfilled/signed by tui and jet2 and have set about recruiting.
There was uproar with the way a lot were treated by tui last year but they are all making very positive noises at the moment.

Worldgonecrazy · 15/02/2021 13:43

Great news about Greece. I really hope they all have a great season to make up for last year.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/02/2021 13:44

Me too @Worldgonecrazy

This is interesting. I know it's in the Sun but it's worth a look. Written by Katharine Birbalsingh, she's the head of the Michaela school in London (super, super strict, very high expectations) and has been very 'in' with the Tory government in the past. She's arguing for schools to reopen even if it means having to vaccinate teachers. Very clear that online learning isn't effective.

Have you spoken to an independent broker?
Bollss · 15/02/2021 14:00

Yes :( my step dad is my broker but we're stuck with who we are with because we don't want to pay back fees for ending earlier. It's quite a chunk.

profpoopsnagle · 15/02/2021 14:17

The Ranganation made me laugh last night, with Romesh describing experts of doom as 'Covid Grinches' as they compete ever more to scare people with how long this might all last. It's cheered me up listening to it again today.

It's about 3 minutes in.

justasking111 · 15/02/2021 14:23

Oh heck my elderly neighbours plight is getting uber complicated. Social Services there three cars plus the son. They want to know how much money she has. Well the son who is there has no idea, the son that lives in London appears to have complete control over her finances he is an accountant and is not taking calls from them. The neighbour has no idea because accountant son took over years and years ago and sorts her out with pocket money, pays her bills etc.

The son there knows, that there was a chunk of change when they sold her parents farm, but other than that is completely ignorant of her finances. The other son in London is a very clever man. I hope my neighbour gets looked after in the meantime and social services eventually get to the bottom of it.

Worldgonecrazy · 15/02/2021 14:36

@TrustTheGeneGenie so sorry to hear you are stuck. No answered, but the wine is that way ————>

justasking111 · 15/02/2021 14:43

@TrustTheGeneGenie DS having mortgage problems, mortgage companies are jittery because of covid he thinks.

Yeah that's what stepdad said. What would have been fine 18 months ago is a no no no apparently. Bloody great. I hate this fucking house.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/02/2021 17:02

I've spent another 1.5 hours in the park observing as DS1 and his bestie have a romp around. Friend's mojo to get out has gone, so they're very glad for him to meet up. Both parents WFH, so he's stuck in most of the time. Win-win.

Apart from me, wrapped in a picnic blanket in a mud field MNing away. But it was quiet and not in my 4 walls Wink

flower11 · 15/02/2021 19:21

Well I have survived day one of half term. The gale force winds and the rain stopped . And it warmed up. We did some craft this morning which meant I then spent ages trying to get red paint out of the table cloth. Then we went for a scoot round the park and kicked the football around.

Tomorrow its my birthday and we are having pancakes and going for a walk. Then m and s pizza and sides for dinner instead of our usual Italian restaurant.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 15/02/2021 19:42

@flower11 many happy returns for tomorrow! That sounds like a great plan - pancakes, yum. Hope you have a fun day. Cake

smallandimperfectlyformed · 15/02/2021 19:52

I hope everyone has had a good day today. Along with everyone else, we have done some baking. My 5 year old wanted to make a chocolate cake so we attempted to bake this cake today - flipping hard work! 6 egg mix, 3 separated eggs in the icing and such a lot of whisking. As you can maybe see it doesn't match up to what it looks like in the books but the icing did set in the end and does taste quite good. I am glad you and your boys had a nice time BogRollBOGOF.

With cake, taste is all Smile

smallandimperfectlyformed · 15/02/2021 20:14

Thank you ISaySteadyOn it does taste good but I must be getting old as all 3 of my girls have had more than one slice and I can't face another piece! Just as well as it has whipping cream, butter, sugar (only 3 tbsps) and chocolate in the icing! Meant to say sorry TrustTheGeneGenie for your bad news re the mortgage.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/02/2021 21:29

I remember doing red velvet cake with the Brownies one valentines. It really didn't match the pictures on the website Grin
They were tasty though.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 15/02/2021 21:40

I hate red velvet cake! I just think it tastes really synthetic. Need to make lemon drizzle cake as it is my oldest girls favourite and never make it as the youngest doesn't like it. Total lockdown cliche but we are always making banana bread as the younger 2 like it, plus it is so easy!!

Right, that's it. AD membership revoked. Baking banana bread is just crossing the line, dammit. You should be ashamed. Ashamed I tell you!
