Don't think they've got that far yet in my area ? I'm 50s with asthma, no invite yet. Having said that I'm NHS and would have had it if not off work with covid.

110APiccadilly · 15/02/2021 10:57

There are a million other threads to argue on; I'm not going to do it on this thread. Sorry.

starfish88 · 15/02/2021 10:57

@Worldgonecrazy

Someone shared an amazing recipe for ratatouille bake with goats cheese. Would anyone like the link? 😁😁😁😁😁😎🤪
Yes please @Worldgonecrazy I'm trying to eat more healthily but DH will at least need cheese to convince him that something is a main course!

I would!

I also want to know more about @TrustTheGeneGenie's chocolate orange cake.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 15/02/2021 11:12

I also need to eat better. Unfortunately, it is half term and I have just handed by eldest Paul Hollywood's cookbook and asked him to have a go at brioche. Grin

DWPmisery1972 · 15/02/2021 11:12

@bakingcupcakes I fucked it up. I’m just an idiot. Same old me. I set like 3 alarms so I’d remember but I haven’t eaten in so long I started doing housework and didn’t see my phone ring (I keep it ok silent - typical bloody millennial). Anyway I rang the woman back and she offered me another appointment and then she started asking me some questions and I just freaked out on her and I sound like a total dick because she sounded all posh and came across like she was judging me I know I’m a fucking reverse snob so I just said I’m sorry for wasting your time have a good day and hung the phone up and now I’ve lost my only chance at getting help and now I’m going to die from this and I’m so scared and I’m such a fucking IDIOT

starfish88 · 15/02/2021 11:25

I imagine people do that all the time. Can you call them back and leave a message? Maybe tell them you are having a hard time asking for help. But I imagine lots of people phone up and panic like that, they are probably hoping you call them back.

Worldgonecrazy · 15/02/2021 11:31

@DWPmisery1972 please call them back. If it will help, write out some notes and if you can stand up during the call you will feel a little more confident. Good luck x

Worldgonecrazy · 15/02/2021 11:34

Thank you to my fellow non-engagers

Here’s the recipe : www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/baked-ratatouille-goats-cheese

It was shared previously by a fellow AD so I can’t take the credit for finding it.

CruCru · 15/02/2021 11:36

Looks nice. I wonder if my children would eat it? I get so cross when I make something nice and then go ARGH!!!! VEGETABLES!!!

countrygirl99 · 15/02/2021 11:50

We made tartiflette at the weekend though we had to.use cheddar not rebouchon. It was very tasty.

Iheartmysmart · 15/02/2021 11:54

@CruCru You could always purée the veggies in with the passata and use potatoes rather than courgettes as layers? Not quite a ratatouille but possibly worth a try.

CruCru · 15/02/2021 11:55

I think I want a fondue set but I suspect that it would sit in the back of the cupboard most of the year. I have a Swiss friend who does marvellous fondue.

Worldgonecrazy · 15/02/2021 11:58

Love fondue. We actually have a fondue dance in our house. Mr Crazy hates fondue so we only have it when he is away, but DD and I spend the days beforehand doing the fondue dance.

2020BogOff · 15/02/2021 12:05

As a side note cheese fondue is the work of the devil. Takes the roof of your mouth every bloody time 🤣

ISaySteadyOn · 15/02/2021 12:22

@Worldgonecrazy, thank you for the recipe! I have developed s cow's milk intolerance so goat cheese is great.

Just been for a walk. Crocuses and daffodils poking through. The air smells of spring. It's coming Smile.

Bollss · 15/02/2021 12:25

@LadyCounterblast

We ended up doing chocolate orange cupcakes because his royal highness ds decided they were better Grin

We just did a really simple normal sponge mix added plenty of cocoa powder and added the zest of 1 orange. Smelt great when we got them out of the oven.

Personally I would do a ganache on top and then a segment of chocolate orange but ds won't touch ganache with a 10 foot barge pole so we are going to do chocolate butter cream and pop a segment on each one. Although we did get some chocolate orange Smarties buttons as well so o am sure they'll feature too!

I'll upload a pic when they're done Grin
**@NannyGythaOgg* tbf the whole dementor thing is pretty much done and dusted isn't it ? People were naturally a bit hysterical at the start, what with the media coverage and ambiguous messages off the government. Things were* bad in hospitals, it was unremittingly distressing for many of the staff who worked in covid areas. I think now, almost a year on, people are alot less emotional. I caught it beginning of november and am only just going back to work tomorrow, probably at some point in a covid area. I'm not massively looking forward to it Hmm
@Meinelieblingskatze
I wish it was all done and dusted. I do agree it has changed and there are fewer extreme people however we are still getting ambiguous messages, partly understandable as no one knows exactly how the virus will continue it's fight for survival (and domination). Main stream media however is still scaremongering.

However, there is still a need for a safe place to question and discuss the restrictions without judgement and we have built a virtual safe community here where no one is judged for having a different point of view (only judged if they try to force their view on others).

These threads have been running for a year now and many people have been on them for many months if not from the start. We have shared lots and have become virtual friends and there will always be a place for these threads to continue even as the situation changes.
plus there is still a significant minority on the 'other' side who think we should be locked up forever and are very prolific in the posting of their views.

Ooh that sounds good!
DWPmisery1972 · 15/02/2021 12:46

Thanks everyone. I feel totally demented (ha!)- I think they call it self sabotage? I’ve always been one of these people thats Like I can do everything on my own I don’t need anyone’s help and I’ve gone and let myself down again.

I rang her back but it rang off the hook so I assume she doesn’t want to talk to me- I got flustered and (annoyed, in tone to be perfectly honest) because she started talking about how I have children and I got so defensive. I don’t fucking know why. I just fuck everything up. Trying to get the kids outside and they are both hating on me aswell so ive fucked that up aswell. I’m so sick of being myself sometimes.

SirSamuelVimes · 15/02/2021 12:52

Ooh I might bake this aft with DD. I would love to make the goats cheese ratatouille but I have a whole family of veggie avoiders so it would be pointless.

In other news, DD and I flocked off to the next town for a walk and had a lovely time. The sun was out, there was a nature trail, it was something we hadn't done a million times already. According to her watch thingy she's done 13k steps this morning so I'm letting her have lunch on the sofa and watch people baking on YouTube.

starfish88 · 15/02/2021 12:53

If she wasn't helpful you can always try at a different time tomorrow and you'll probably get someone else. Don't give up on yourself you're being so brave.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/02/2021 13:02

DS2 has played with another child for the first time since 17 Dec.
Well other than DS1, but DS1 likes things to be on his own terms and it's not healthy or balanced for it to be DS2's sole relationship with another child.

As soon as random kids saw them with the football, they flocked, FLOCKED out of the playground to the mud zone Grin

Children need children.

bakingcupcakes · 15/02/2021 13:08

@DWPmisery1972 Don't beat yourself up over it. As Starfish said I'm sure people panic and say there's no problem when there is all the time. That's the nature of EDs. I 'over-ate' ate like a normal person on Saturday so therefore I have no problem. I do this periodically because it excuses the rest of my batshit behaviour around food in my own mind. I think they'll know you haven't contacted them to waste their time. And I think if you try again another day there's a good chance you'll end up speaking to another person who's easier to talk too.

We've been out for breakfast and another slightly different walk. Not done this route since spring when the path was partially caved into the stream alongside. Today there was even less path. Who would have thought winter could have made it so much worse! Grin
