For me it’s Jamaica ginger cake. We used to have it for special occasions, didn’t realise you could buy it in the supermarket for a pound until I got to uni!

When I was about 10 I was invited to my
Mums boss’s house as they had a daughter the same age as me.
They weren’t posh ( Yorkshire farming stock) but they were very rich. When we had lunch the Dad cut the joint with an electric carving knife
I remember thinking - one day ...............
It must have stayed with me because the first time I went to the inlaws fil got his electric carving knife out and I realised that they were quite common
I haven’t got one now, I would be terrified of it
