My fucking neighbours

We have just finished a kitchen extension. 6 month build with all the attendant stresses. Older neighbours (late 60s) next door have for the hump because we raised the floor meaning that now they can see into our kitchen. We can’t see into their house at all. They’ve been on at us throughout the build to have the window frosted over, I’ve said no, I’m putting in plain glass and if needs be I’ll put some film over it.
Build finished 5 mins ago, I’ve been up to my ears in fucking homeschooling and working and life and all the bullshit and she sends her husband over to shout at us because there’s no film on the window and ‘I don’t want to see you in your kitchen, it’s like a shop window’. Said window is 135 x 50cm. Also, it’s facing onto their garden which is about 20 metres from the window. So it’s not in their face. I don’t necessarily think they’re wrong, if it’s pissing them off it’s pissing them off and ITS ON MY FUCKING LIST but just FUCK OFF YOU CUNTS WHY DOES IT MATTER??
Many thanks, I feel better now.

You’ve had the planning permission for it so that’s that. Just tell them not to look in that direction Grin

purpleme12 · 31/01/2021 21:16

I don't understand what their problem is
So what if they can see in your kitchen!
Surely if anyone was going to be uncomfortable it would more likely be you and if you don't care then so what!
God they'd piss me off too!

LIZS · 31/01/2021 21:18

It would be normal for directly overlooking windows to be opaque glass.

Put a blind up put an image behind it of a pair of eyes facing them

Terminallysleepdeprived · 31/01/2021 21:19

Your neighbours are batshit.

Next door and I can both see into each others kitchens, she is disabled so can't but her partner can...he has started staying over more so I have to remember to take my pj's down to the bathroom when I have a shower now.

The double decker bus can see straight into my bedroom window...curtains are never opened

Life involves seeing in the occasional window. They need to get over themselves

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 31/01/2021 21:20

If the window is parallel to the boundary (so looking across the property boundary) it is normal to put frosted in.

mbosnz · 31/01/2021 21:21

How about putting some filming up in your window in the shape of a middle index finger?

Theunamedcat · 31/01/2021 21:21

Or this

I might have to draw a diagram. Bear with.

Veterinari · 31/01/2021 21:22

Diagram please OP,
Tell them to frost their own window

willFOURbagsbeenough · 31/01/2021 21:24

If they don’t want to see in your kitchen, do they know they can turn their heads? Idiots.

I'm a bit scared of making you even crosser. But presumably they have had to deal with your 6 month build and all the stresses that entails too - but with no nice new kitchen at the end of it. I would be pacifying and put the film up asap if I were you.

runningpink · 31/01/2021 21:32

Ooops cross post!

CindersCatsSister · 31/01/2021 21:33

Plus their kitchen is at the back of their house, so they are having to make quite an effort to look in!!

OP posts:
runningpink · 31/01/2021 21:34

Tell them to get lost and put film on own window if they as so bothered

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 31/01/2021 21:35

Walk around naked and give them something to look at Grin

Seriously though. If you could now see into their kitchen I could (almost) understand a complaint. But they can see into yours? So what Confused

CindersCatsSister · 31/01/2021 21:35

@theplantsitter I’ve propped some pictures up to cover the window for now and ordered some film that they will probably object to too, it’s not worth the argument but THEY’RE STILL CUNTS AND IM NEVER PUTTING THEIR BINS OUT AGAIN

I told my friend earlier and he said ‘make sure you scramble your eggs with your tits out tomorrow morning then’

OP posts:
CindersCatsSister · 31/01/2021 21:37

I might get bespoke window film with the whole family giving them the finger etched on it.

SD1978 · 31/01/2021 21:38

So they can kinda see in if they sit in their pergola- in winter, looking out over their driveway? I'd stick eyeballs up. Stuff the frosted glass

whydoyouhateclocks · 31/01/2021 21:40

That seems quite a distance! I was imagining the windows were within touching distance or something.

I'm slightly confused why it's supposed to be your problem that they don't enjoy their view into your window. If you were gawping into their window and waving at them as they had their tea I could understand.
