My fucking neighbours

We have just finished a kitchen extension. 6 month build with all the attendant stresses. Older neighbours (late 60s) next door have for the hump because we raised the floor meaning that now they can see into our kitchen. We can’t see into their house at all. They’ve been on at us throughout the build to have the window frosted over, I’ve said no, I’m putting in plain glass and if needs be I’ll put some film over it.
Build finished 5 mins ago, I’ve been up to my ears in fucking homeschooling and working and life and all the bullshit and she sends her husband over to shout at us because there’s no film on the window and ‘I don’t want to see you in your kitchen, it’s like a shop window’. Said window is 135 x 50cm. Also, it’s facing onto their garden which is about 20 metres from the window. So it’s not in their face. I don’t necessarily think they’re wrong, if it’s pissing them off it’s pissing them off and ITS ON MY FUCKING LIST but just FUCK OFF YOU CUNTS WHY DOES IT MATTER??
Many thanks, I feel better now.

Put transparent film up. You've done what they've asked so the fuckers can't complain

RandomMess · 31/01/2021 21:41

Put frost up with clear sections as well Grin

SimplyRadishing · 31/01/2021 21:43

Tell them to put a film on their own fucking window if they are so bothered

Do they realise that they don't have to look?
I originally thought your windows must be touching or something.
From the diagram it seems like they would have to love lounging in their driveway for it to even be a still non issues
They sound pathetic.. what view did they have before? A wall?

CindersCatsSister · 31/01/2021 21:45

I am so tempted to get that reflective film that turn the exterior of the window into a mirror. That would irritate the shit out of them.
The bit that confuses me is that come Spring the greenery will grow over their pergola and they won’t be able to see us anyway?? I really think they are mental.
I would estimate that the distance from the window to their front door is 20 metres or thereabouts.

Or you could put a TV at the window for them to see
'Oh I thought you wanted me to put a film on!'

CindersCatsSister · 31/01/2021 21:46

The window has always been there!! It’s just it looked into a garage that was never used.

Explain to them how eyelids work

They're fucking batshit.

There's no way I'd be putting any kind of covering on my windows jus because the neighbours didn't want to be able to see in from their garden

They're more than one sandwich short, they've left the picnic hamper at home.

3JsMa · 31/01/2021 21:52

Honestly, after seeing your diagram they must be bonkers!
One more time and I will warn them to stop harassing your family.
You have a right to quiet enjoyment of your own house and if they don't like something, tough luck.
FFS,20 meters distance and they are so bothered !Hmm

harknesswitch · 31/01/2021 21:52

Not a chance I'd frost it now after they've been so rude

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 31/01/2021 21:54

Sending you wine! I fricken hate my Neighbour’s, since our extension they’ve been arseholes!

RandomMess · 31/01/2021 21:54

I've changed my mind don't do it just to piss them off.

Ideasplease322 · 31/01/2021 21:56

Sorry - but worst diagram ever🙂

Did they object to The planning permission?

Coffeeandaride · 31/01/2021 21:57

I think mirror film would be perfect Grin

MizMoonshine · 31/01/2021 21:58

Why should you obscure your window for their benefit, at cost to you? Tell them to raise their fence.

Morgan12 · 31/01/2021 21:58

No chance would I be putting film up. They aren't half going to some effort to look in your window!

Fuckingcrustybread · 31/01/2021 21:59

@LIZS

It would be normal for directly overlooking windows to be opaque glass.
This is simply not true. Window overlooking the front garden, clear glass, window overlooking the driveway, clear glass. Window overlooking the back garden, clear glass. Bathroom, toilet window, Usually opaque glass. Having a window is to be able to get light and see the outside. Definitely not usual to have opaque glass.
AnnaMagdalena · 31/01/2021 21:59

I like your handwriting, OP. And the neighbours are mad.

kattekitt · 31/01/2021 22:02

I also would now refuse. It’s your home you had planning permission. Do not give in to the crazy - it will only encourage their behaviour

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/01/2021 22:03

Don’t cover your window up!

Couchbettato · 31/01/2021 22:04

Feed them rice OP. I wouldn't be frosting or filming my brand new windows.

Moondust001 · 31/01/2021 22:04

I wish my eyesight was as good as theirs. I'd be proud to be able to see inside your kitchen. I'm so short sighted I probably couldn't see the bloody kitchen!

Oreservoir · 31/01/2021 22:05

I'd hang different things in the window on a regular basis.
Starting with a man doll and woman doll with pins sticking in them.
Followed by a sheeps skull and so on.
But I'm petty like that.

HereIfYouNeedMe · 31/01/2021 22:08

@CindersCatsSister you're cracking me up 😂 fuck 'em and enjoy your new kitchen!

Taylrse · 31/01/2021 22:08

I'm so confused by this.
My neighbours opposite always have the lights on and curtains open in their living room. I can see directly in to their living room and it doesn't bother me one bit!

Why would this bother someone that they can see in Confused I would tell them to get a bloody life
