Lodger has a ONS in his room

And normally it wouldn’t bother me but he’s already bubbled with his TA at work. I knew something was a miss when I got up at 530 for work and one of the stray cats from out side was asleep on my kitchen chair! Normally he’s so good he lets me know if someone’s staying and he hasn’t had anyone over since this lockdown. Should I say anything I can hear them having a good time or should I just turn the radio up and get ready for work?😃

And anyway I don’t think it’s fake! My DH has been in contact with doctors, nurses, paramedics and all sorts, including a stay in hospital, in the last couple of months, and several of them have told him straight out that the panic is ridiculous. So I don’t think you get to speak for all nurses.

HaggisBurger · 31/01/2021 10:37

I’m beyond confused. Is the OP one of those people who has 5 explanatory thoughts in her head but only shares one out of every 5 when asked?
Or a troll?

Maireas · 31/01/2021 10:37

OP, please keep us updated.
Feign illness at work if necessary. We need you at home monitoring the situation.

Viviennemary · 31/01/2021 10:40

I thought it meant a Onesie. Grin

YesItsMeIDontCare · 31/01/2021 10:42

@Orchidflower1

I've got to vouch for Each. She's been around for years with lodger and cat quandaries.

RedWelliesAreHot · 31/01/2021 10:45

Soooo...the OP got up at 5.30am to go to work as a nurse yet she has time to be posting on Mumsnet while she is in a hospital.

Hmm
truthisalie · 31/01/2021 10:46

Why haven’t you wrt? TA is teaching assistant unless there is another pc word for them that I don’t know about

I missed this post so TA is a TA.

Frownette · 31/01/2021 10:46

@YesitsmeIdontCare I remember your cat as well :)

Definitely not troll, just a bit perplexed at the antics of lodgers but not sure about how to go about saying something in a good natured way. It is a bit odd not having to go about things in the usual way, isn't it?

trappedsincesundaymorn · 31/01/2021 10:46

Maybe the cat has demanded a crate of Cuban cigars as payment for staying out all night and not landing the lodger in it. Rodger the lodger should have paid up sooner.

Hmm

Not a troll. OP has shift work.
truthisalie · 31/01/2021 10:49

If I had a lodger that looked like him I wouldn't cope op

Really? Confused

Ninkanink · 31/01/2021 10:53

Ok so OP is not a troll (and even if she had been why the hell cant people just have a bit of a sense of humour once in a while fgs?!), so can we just shut up about that now? I was enjoying this thread.

InglouriousBasterd · 31/01/2021 10:53

Each isn’t a troll! She’s been around for years.

napody · 31/01/2021 10:55

@donquixotedelamancha

It’s actually out of character for him. He is lovely He’s a lovely lovely guy this isn’t like him.

OP you should have made a move sooner.

You could try telling him you don't want stray pussies in the house but you understand he has needs, so perhaps there is another solution.

This did cross my mind too....
PurelyT · 31/01/2021 10:58

we're still allowed to laugh you know

No, did you not see the announcement last night? Laughing no longer allowed. Laughing has been scientifically linked to pissing on the chips of doomers and misery spreaders. £200 fine on the spot.

FAQs · 31/01/2021 10:58

@Maireas I thought the same!!

MaelyssQ · 31/01/2021 10:59

If he was my lodger....Grin Wink

What sort of nursing role do you have where you can update Mumsnet? Where I work, use of mobile phones is banned, more so during Covid because of the cross infection risk. I'm guessing you must be office based, discharge liaison or something like that.

Frownette · 31/01/2021 10:59

Cuban cigars. Black cats. OP leave your house at your peril. The primal nature of your lodger and the black cat is unleashed.

Hi folks

We think this one has run its course - we're taking it down now.

LilyMumsnet · 31/01/2021 11:43

Hi all

Sorry about that - we made a mistake here. We've reinstated the thread now. Flowers

Hobnobswantshernameback · 31/01/2021 11:45

WTAF?
Hmm

thecatneuterer · 31/01/2021 11:47

Thanks MNHQ! Each is not a troll!! and is as nurse!! (I know her personally, have been to her flat and met her cats - though sadly not the new scrummy lodger). I'm glad this amusing thread is back.

thecatneuterer · 31/01/2021 11:51

@FreekStar

I know I'm missing the point of the thread but those cats are definitely not strays!
They are. There was a colony in the yard at the back of her flat. The Celia Hammond Animal Trust neutered them (I trapped them) and they have shelters and the OP feeds them. They are slowly becoming tame. We ended up neutering over 25 from that site - we homed some kittens and some seem to have moved on.
dragonsmoke · 31/01/2021 11:55

@Orchidflower1

If this is true then that is even worse you are knowingly allowing him to break the rules. That is vile considering your role and I assume the lodger is a teacher.

I’d get rid of him and reconsider your morals in this situation.

Oh FFS....!!
Ninkanink · 31/01/2021 11:55

Thank you @LilyMumsnet! Flowers

I’m sure it’s like herding cats* sometimes so it’s understandable that a mistake will happen once in a while!

*see what I did there Wink
