Welcome in ADs. Snuggle up hygge-style 'cause there ain't much going on out there for a while... except rain.

I haven't got a pussy of my own for gratuitous showing off, so I shall pretend to be Dr Evil with Mr Biggleswade Grin

Most GPs not 'P's :)

Worldgonecrazy · 09/02/2021 14:14

PLF was a major stress. I cocked up the dates on Mr Crazy’s form so he didn’t have one. Luckily I had included him as a passenger on my form so it was okay, but we weren’t convinced we were in the clear until we landed! So stressful.

Lovely to hear of holidays being planned here and abroad, I hope it all goes ahead for you lovely ADs!!

I’m not anti vax Bill gates is chipping me etc- my concerns are for my allergies (antibiotics, various fruits, and there was another ingredient that I can’t remember that I had a concern about but it’s slipped my mind). Also the long term effects; my partner and I have only been together a year and a half and I am still young and we are currently not actively trying to conceive but we are not using contraception; I worry about my long term fertility. I’m not a tin foil hatter, I just worry about firstly anaphylaxis, my long term health and my long term fertility. I don’t think that’s completely unfair for me to reject it for now. People probably think I’m a monster, caring for a (vaccinated) elderly person while double masked, with a shield, two pairs of gloves taped at the wrist and an apron, but hey, we were doing it for 10 months before the vaccine and no one gave a shit about our health.

Worldgonecrazy · 09/02/2021 14:21

And arriving back, no one checked if we had done them for the U.K. despite all the dire warnings of fines and not being allowed entry .

DWPmisery1972 · 09/02/2021 14:22

@justasking111 sorry to hear about the mess but tell daughter to not buy the flash ‘magic eraser’ but bulk buy the same sponges for cheap on eBay- they do the same job for a fraction of the price and will remove pen and pencil from almost anything - with my two I keep a big stock in the cupboard becuase I have I lot of white walls!

DWPmisery1972 · 09/02/2021 14:28

@mightbealittlebitmad hugs, sorry you’re going a bit loopy. I feel your pain. I am having to lay on my side when resting so younger DS thinks that’s an invitation to climb on me 🤨 errrr no, my back is not a playground, it is shot to pieces thank you. Also yes, the whirlwind of destruction... don’t give yourself a hard time; just do one thing every day or one room that’ll make you feel better- even if it’s just wiping down the surfaces or running the vacuum round quickly. You’re going to get through this. Flowers

Worldgonecrazy · 09/02/2021 14:36

I hope the red list dies a death soon. We have booked to see Alphaville in Lisbon in late May. I don’t fancy paying 1750 each for the ‘privileged’ of staying in a travelodge.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 09/02/2021 14:45

I hope the constant mass testing dies a death soon. I have a feeling that the introduction of testing to workplaces of 50 people or more is the start of the winding down of this and going forward it will workplace testing and testing if you have a clinical need. After all what difference does it make that 30k people are getting it if theyre not getting ill and this constant media focus on new cases is ridiculous and fuelling the fear of the BDs and contributing to this societal division.

Worldgonecrazy · 09/02/2021 15:12

@LivinLaVidaLoki absolutely agree. Testing healthy people with no symptoms is the most ridiculous thing ever. We didn’t do it for other equally dangerous diseases and I worry we have set a dangerous precedent. The only comparator I can think of is MRSA swabbing before going into hospital for surgery. Not even sure if that still happens.

RockaLock · 09/02/2021 15:22

Loki and world, I was saying the exact same thing to DH last night.

I read a story about how a care home had had everyone vaccinated, and the only cases they'd had since were asymptomatic.

And I just though great, but also WTF - how can you say someone with no symptoms is a case of Covid, just because you've found a minute amount of the virus up their nose? It's getting ridiculous now.

DWPmisery1972 · 09/02/2021 15:23

@Worldgonecrazy I was tested for MRSA on the ward the other day so I think that’s still standard

Worldgonecrazy · 09/02/2021 15:47

Dwp - that is good news. I had to do a chaplaincy visit to an mrsa patient. It was really hard not to look at the 2 inch hole in his cheek. It’s a horrible bug when it gets going.

ISaySteadyOn · 09/02/2021 15:47

Thank you so much everyone for using BDs. Means a lot to me actually.

@DWPmisery1972, one of my fears about becoming elderly is being patronised and treated like I'm stupid. How do you avoid doing that (because I know you don't) and how many carers do do the patronising thing?

Orangeblossom1977 · 09/02/2021 16:16

Just coming on here for some sanity after posting about exercise in the dark over there- turns out seems it is normal to do this to avoid the virus Confused I can't cope with BBC anymore

www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-55895737

Orangeblossom1977 · 09/02/2021 16:16

Sounds depressing as anything to me, walking around slowly in the dark, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

rosettesforjill · 09/02/2021 16:19

I quite like exercising in the dark - especially early morning and ideally finishing just as the sun is starting to rise. Nothing to do with Covid though, I just like the peace and quiet!

110APiccadilly · 09/02/2021 16:32

I'm not sure members of SAGE should be shipped to just spout off to the press - civil servants aren't allowed to do that sort of thing - what's the difference?

110APiccadilly · 09/02/2021 16:32

*allowed to, not shipped to.

countrygirl99 · 09/02/2021 16:43

I used to have my horses at a yard on a hill overlooking a village. I used to love poo picking by head torch and looking out over all the houses with their lights on. Sadly there were sycamore trees and it was before the dangers were understood and I lost my lovely youngster.

wanderings · 09/02/2021 17:02

Here's something that the government can be QUOTED on, from the mouth of the schools minister Mr Gibb (see www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-55995939).
Mr Gibb added: "As a government, we are absolutely determined that no child or young person will have detriment to their life chances as a result of this pandemic."

From the horse's mouth. No child or young person will have detriment to their life chances as a result of this pandemic. Does Saint Boris know this?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 09/02/2021 17:04

People in hospital is now at the lowest its been since beginning of January and admissions lowest since mid December and they're falling at quite the rate.

ISaySteadyOn · 09/02/2021 17:04

hollow laugh

Iheartmysmart · 09/02/2021 17:13

I’d quite happily see SAGE shipped ... somewhere far, far away.

Am I right in thinking that if they’ve carried out about 4.5million tests in the last week and around 120k have tested positive then that’s about 2.5%? My mathematical skills are shocking so sorry if that’s a daft question.

TheOrchidKiller · 09/02/2021 17:25

My maths is far worse, but thank you for posting that Iheart. Need things putting into perspective.

It feels so bleak right now & I've had anxiety. Am also bloody freezing from being made to have the windows open at work (was wearing thermals & a coat).

ISaySteadyOn · 09/02/2021 17:25

2.7 about.
