@Bangable

This is the most stupid thing I’ve read on the internet in quite some time. And that’s saying something!

You haven't seen any of @Janegrey333's other posts then Grin

I wonder what the children will think of the airing of their family issues in public as they grow older?

I feel the same about the Louise/Jamie Redknapp stories, their kids are teenagers, it must be excruciating for them to read this stuff about their parents and know that all their friends can read it too.

Selfish and thoughtless parenting, no matter what the truth behind the story is.

Everydaydragon · 04/03/2021 12:43

The way she described telling her daughter about the divorce is awful, I know she said she did it kindly but it just doesn't come across that way. Shes coming across as so bitter and trying to ruin him

TonTonMacoute · 04/03/2021 14:27

I understand the temptation to explain your side of the story and to justify your position, but doing it like this just doesn't work. It usually backfires and ends up with you looking like the problem in many people's eyes.

IndecentCakes · 04/03/2021 22:10

Well, I saw him in that Westlife video for 'Uptown Girl' and he was a right posh twat, looking down his nose at all those good Irish boys...

Thatswhatmamasaid · 05/03/2021 14:28

I think he was just acting in the Westlife video as well as the TV series Liar Confused.

AdobeWanKenobi · 05/03/2021 14:45

I had a nose through her instagram last night, she writes very dismissively about him from the start. He's grumpy, miserable etc and at one point she claims he'd told her off about her social media use.

I call DH a grump jokingly, but not sure I'd do it repeatedly online.

dottiedodah · 05/03/2021 15:15

I feel for her .Her hurt and obvious distress at being comes over strongly. Sadly she worries that her girls will be feeling hurt that their daddy has left them too .Probably SM not the best place ,but she needs to vent (Maybe come over here Alice?)

If these are the messages she’s sharing with the world, imagine what she’s sending to him privately Confused she sounds very unstable, which is sad for her, but I also don’t blame him for not wanting to spend the rest of his life with someone so highly strung and draining.

I am really surprised that there isn't more sympathy for her on here. Admittedly, before all of this blew up, I didn't know who she was but recognised him as the Hornblower actor.

I really feel for her. And I think she's been really brave speaking up. She's obviously distraught about the end of the marriage, but it's not that that she has been protesting about, it's the fact that he allegedly "employed the script" and told her it was down to her why it ended and there allegedly wasn't anyone else involved or on the horizon. I thought Mumsnet of all places would be very sympathetic to that.

And yes while I agree it's not great for the DC, neither is their father leaving. If you are an actor working on set for months every time, there is no such thing as EOW.

I think she is brave to have spoken up because there is so much emphasis on "keeping your dignity" and not saying anything, that it allows blokes to play these games (if he has - I don't know much about them tbh - but if what she is alleging is true - I mean this as a more general point, not necessarily about this former couple) and many men get away with murder because no one has the balls to say anything, except on threads on the relationship boards here!

Yes it takes two people to break up a marriage, there is usually fault on both sides, but how you do it is really important. Surely you owe a spouse of twenty years , and your DC, honesty and integrity?

Aria2015 · 28/10/2021 12:51

@Bottleofstout I agree with you. I feel very sad for her. I haven't experienced the heartache of a marriage breakdown, but I've had times in my life where I have felt emotionally out of control and overwhelmed. It's hard to think straight and you don't always make the best or healthiest decisions. I hate how on one hand, we tell people to be open about their mental health and reach out for help and then in the next breath, we shame them for sharing how they feel because they've done it in a way we don't agree with (ie. Publically on social media).

I also loathe the ‘have some dignity’ brigade. To me that just reads as ‘put up and shut up’ so you don't embarrass yourself. Completely flies in the face of giving healthy and helpful mental health support for someone who needs it.

ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff · 28/10/2021 14:49

I feel so sorry for her after this latest episode. Her mental health has clearly gone to pot and of course the new girlfriend is young and beautiful and the media are obviously showing the most unflattering pictures of her. Like watching a car crash poor woman.

LivesinLondon2000 · 28/10/2021 21:43

Yes despite the denials that there was no-one else involved, surprise, surprise he was having an affair with someone 20 years younger 🙄

And the usual line of ‘I’ve never been so happy’. All so cliched.
The new girlfriend is 29 so I guess a baby will be on the cards soon too. I’m always amazed that men are so keen to start new families - I’m exhausted after bringing my kids up - no way would I want to start again 😂

ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff · 28/10/2021 22:13

It has an air of Ewan McGregor about it. Typical cliche, trade the woman in for a younger model and in horrible circumstances

The new girlfriend is not beautiful, she's just average. All the pictures are photoshopped. She's young, yes, but if this lasts I will be very surprised.

I knew a chap who did this. He was 40 and ran off with a woman 17 years younger. He said he'd never had so much sex and was deliriously happy. He proposed to the girlfriend and they got married but then she very quickly left him for someone her own age - and her own sex, too.
Viviennemary · 29/10/2021 15:21

There was another article yesterday (DM I think) when she was busy bad mouthing him again. On twitter. Bit desperate. They've hardly been together for well over a year apparently.

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 29/10/2021 15:28

Starting to see she really has gone OTT now. Looking at her eyes yesterday , the wildness, she has got some serious problems now.

Jobseeker19 · 29/10/2021 22:58

Just read her piece in the Daily Mail, I feel so sorry for her. But she actually said she wanted him to stay with her until the chikdren were chikdren. Why would you want to live a lie with someone?

Bunnycat101 · 30/10/2021 00:03

I’ve seen so many articles about this so am quite curious but I genuinely don’t know who they are. I was hoping this thread would tell me but still don’t know so off to Google. Feels very strange to know about their marriage breakdown without having the foggiest who they actually are.

AutumnColours9 · 30/10/2021 00:11

I agree with the poster above that we should talk about these things
Destroying someone emotionally and being cruel including to your own kids is grim. She won't be thinking straight. I hate the rhetoric that the marriage must've been bad etc it takes to...bitter wife etc.. its abusive.

alexdgr8 · 30/10/2021 00:18

he's been in a lot of historical or costume dramas, esp as naval officer, jane austen roles etc.
i'd never heard of her until all this blew up.
it's sad really. she is making herself ridiculous or pitiable, not attractive.
and for the children's sake, she should keep quiet.
maybe this is partly why he left, she might be volatile in private.
she needs a good counsellor, to get it all out, confidentially.
