I have received an e-mail via solicitors saying sale will look towards completion (and exchange) next week. However, this isn't as exciting as it seems as we've had same message via estate agent sinc mid December. It's like when DH tells me he will do something tomorrow, it means he has thought about doing it tomorrow, will eventually do it but each day brings a new tomorrow. Grin

He is a keeper Sunbird (obviously not to MN relationships board standards as no man reaches that standard Grin) and even the cat agrees, the cat often sacks him as her preferred cat slave but then will reinstate him in minutes once she has considered that she hates anyone not in our household and that she has declared the rest of us very useless whereas DH is just a bit useless at times for the cat but generally he's a very loyal and dedicated cat servant.

Eggy Will look at anywhere in Devon - would like to go to Lundy again maybe on the north coast again not too far from Ilfracombe for at least half of it. We may do Dartmoor again for other half. Love all of Devon though but will try to avoid the very busy parts with covid and normally prefer quieter anyway. DH has banned me from booking anywhere though he knows I am not good at not booking and if it was left to him we would have had no holidays ever booked, not as he doesn't want to go just as he can't decide. One time he insisted he decided and then we went there and he then sacked himself - it was OK where he chose but he forgot to look how close it was to ski slope then he was like oh that's why it was a bit cheaper than the one you got last year but I hate being this far away. Smile

We're back from our expedition. We did have a McDonald's but it was strangely disappointing, although it's entirely likely we had built it up unfairly high in our heads Grin

Payday tomorrow. We have deferred the purchase of the water filter until then - DH will be off work and we can devote the necessary attention to the finer points.

Spudlet · 28/01/2021 15:00

Waiting to go for a run, but DH is involved in a long video call upstairs. Sounds very complicated. Hoping to get out before dark as I haven’t actually tried trail running with a head torch before and I think I might end up in a heap.

DS is watching an animation of the Mars Curiosity Rover. This must be heading for his fiftieth viewing today. Is there a way to find out how many times you’ve watched a video on YouTube? It’s been on a loop for a good two and a half hours now Confused

MissConductUS · 28/01/2021 16:10

Spudlet, I've been running with a headlamp for many years. If it's a good LED one it will cast a wide, bright beam that will easily let you avoid any hazards. Sometimes if there are a full moon and a clear sky I'll turn it off and just run in the moonlight.

Fortunately his call finished and I was given a shore leave pass! It’s such rough tussocky ground around here with so many half hidden floods and marshy bits that I’d be quite concerned about actually running with my head torch - although walking is fine. The ground is really challenging at the moment after all the heavy rain we’ve had, I’ve had a few close calls with the deck in broad daylight. So feeling pretty happy not to have had to test it out 😲 Also, I think if my nice physio ever caught wind that I took my dodgy ankle out running in the dark off road I believe she might murder me, or at least confiscate my trail shoes 🤣

lboogy · 28/01/2021 16:17

Made a tuna salad since I didn't want another bag of salad to end up in compost. I forgot how nice a leafy salad is.

MissConductUS · 28/01/2021 16:38

Spudlet, I run on pavement, so that is quite different.

Welcome, @Iboogy, and thanks for sharing your news. I've been getting a Cobb salad takeaway once a week recently and it is a nice change.

I've just ordered a handmade breakfast bar, I can't have one with legs so this one attaches to the wall, absolutely bargain at £59!! I could pick the exact size and colour and it's the most exciting thing that is happening ☺️

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/01/2021 16:49

@Mammaaof
Calm down, think of your bloodpressure Smile
and post a foto!

Mammaaof · 28/01/2021 17:01

@Mammaaof
Fine! ('Frühstückstheke') - The chairs remind me of Italy and my very first dish of spaghetti - so I feel better now!

Nydj · 28/01/2021 18:06

I’ve been feeling strange today - very emotional but am back to what counts as normal for me now. DS is making dinner and DH is sorting out the bins as it is bin day tomorrow.

Sunbird24 · 28/01/2021 18:32

I’ve been binge-watching Bridgerton instead of doing my tax return 🤦‍♀️

Spudlet · 28/01/2021 18:42

@MissConductUS There aren’t any pavements for me to run on here even if I wanted to Grin It’s either roads or fields, and I choose soggy feet over being squished Shock

Therainisback · 28/01/2021 18:52

Just woken up & made marmalade on toast. Felt absolutely knackered all day, despite getting 8 1/2 hours sleep. So when I finished work I snuggled down on the settee with 3 throws on top of me & slept for nearly 2 hours. Feel more normal now. Buggered the diet thoughHmm

MissConductUS · 28/01/2021 19:22

Welcome, @Mammaaof, and thanks for sharing your home furnishing news. I must admit that when I read "breakfast bar" I though you meant a granola type nibble.

Spudlet, I have failed in my mission to master British idioms. Here, pavement means any hard road surface that cars drive on, usually made of asphalt. I now recall that for you, pavements are what we call sidewalks, which are strictly for pedestrians. Except in Boston, where I once saw someone drive on a sidewalk to go around a traffic signal.

OP posts:
MissConductUS · 28/01/2021 19:49

For cultural context, drivers in Boston and notoriously aggressive and foolhardy. I spend an extra 30 minutes on the road when we take DS to uni just to avoid the city.

To add here - totally irrelevant - but I love words: I still call this a trottoir, but then I call purse a portemonnaie and an umbrella a parapluie.

hollyandkit · 28/01/2021 19:57

I've taken the Dyson apart and cleaned the filters and all the other bits - woo! No wonder it wasn't picking up very well, cleared out enough dust to stuff a pillowcase Confused

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/01/2021 20:10

@Spudlet
There is a course on FutureLearn "How to survive on Mars" it's starts with the assumption that you get there, but what then. It was fascinating (and free).

Spudlet · 28/01/2021 20:32

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Ooh, I will look for that tomorrow! Thank you 😊 It sounds really interesting 👍

@MissConductUS Wow, driving in Boston sounds.., erm... interesting?! Jeepers 😬 I didn’t know pavement was a word used at all in the USA so I assumed you were demonstrating your fluency once again 😁 Yep, it’s all country lanes round here - very pretty, but narrow with plenty of blind bends, and a 60mph speed limit which many drivers take as a personal challenge. I will run on them in daylight (headphones out and wits about me) but I wouldn’t in the dark, even with lights and hi-viz and things. I tried it once, where I used to live (edge of a small town near here) and it was genuinely alarming. There are a few pavements (in the British sense!) in the village itself, but it’s far too small for a good run, less than 1000 people live there and that includes us up on the outskirts.

Squirrel26 · 28/01/2021 20:36

The dog is offended because I will not stop it raining.
I've told him to go ahead and call the RSPCA.

Spudlet · 28/01/2021 20:36

I just did a zoom yoga class, but ddog has fallen asleep on top of my yoga mat bag and I can’t bear to move him, so my mat will have to stay out now until he chooses to move Grin

Silkiechickscat · 28/01/2021 20:41

I slept a lot of today, its good to have caught up on some sleep but every time I woke up I was dizzy and hot and DD was standing over me trying to talk about some maths competition non-stop and I was Confused

Now I've had a few drinks of coconut milk and pineapple juice and feel more in the land of the living, well land of the existing atm with lockdown Grin and DD has explained DS has his Maths comp on Mon, hers is on Thurs and its the same paper. This will mean DS will be hounded from Mon to Thurs for questions which he will refuse to give and she will complain what a lousy brother he is.

DD is back.

MissConductUS · 28/01/2021 20:42

Welcome, @hollyandkit, and thanks for sharing your vacuous news.

I've gone home early to use a bit of annual leave before it expires and am nipping out to the shops. DS has a cough and has requested cough drops.
