I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

At his point, he can have some paracetamol or ibuprofen. I'd recommend a bit of both.

Oh, commiserations over the tax, @MissConductUS - my sister in the US always dreads doing hers - it sounds a lot more work/complicated than self-assessment here, more than mine anyway, though I still loathe and put it off - always such a relief to get it done.

Any special Valentine’s dinners tonight? Assuming anyone has a dh/dp of course. I’m just going to make a cauliflower/macaroni cheese combo, one of dh’s favourites anyway and I’ve got everything so no need to go shopping.
Might also make a pud - we hardly ever have one - since I have 2 tins of black cherries, which make quite a nice clafoutis if well drained. Not too much faff, either.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/02/2021 12:01

@Silkiechickscat, do hope your dh will feel better soon.
I had the AZ vaccine over 2 weeks ago now, had very flu-like shivers and shakes that same night, but it only lasted about 12 hours.
Dh had the AZ too - no reaction at all.
I’ve never had a reaction to the ordinary flu jab so it wasn’t expected at all.

HelenaJustina · 14/02/2021 12:03

I got DH a book and chocolate, he gave me daffodils, chocolate and fizz. DC have decorated a front facing window and drawn hearts on the drive in pink chalk. Not sure who they expect to benefit in our sleepy village but it kept them busy and quiet.
DH and I were awake early so walked the 3 miles to morning Mass and back leaving DC at home. It was v cold and windy but romantic as it’s the longest time we’ve spent on our own together in months! Coffee and croissants warmed us up when we got back.
Roast beef later but probably not until 3/4pm.

HelenaJustina · 14/02/2021 12:05

DH had AZ, no reaction at all other than a bit of a sore arm on the second day. Anecdotally the second jab can be tougher on the system so he has that to look forward to. But just so grateful that it exists!

Silkiechickscat · 14/02/2021 12:09

Thanks Mother and MissC He's already had paracetomol but has just woken up and says he feels better than before so it may be a 12 hour thing for him too - had vaccine at 10am yesterday and started feeling ill around 11pm last night.

I am also doing lots of tax and change of address admin, all good fun.

DH just stood up, Shock

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/02/2021 12:15

Oh yes, that is today - have a great day all of you who celebrate!

I wish they could speed up the production of the vaccine (any vaccine we have three brands sofar and the Russian one is on track to be approved, too) .

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/02/2021 12:17

Sounds much the same as me, Silkie - had the jab about 9.30 am, suddenly started feeling flu-ey around 9 pm. Fingers Xed his symptoms will soon be gone.

Sunbird24 · 14/02/2021 12:19

Happy Valentines Day! I’m contemplating a romantic walk to the Co-op for antihistamines, might even buy myself some flowers while I’m there as my daffs in pots are not playing ball. Will probably also spoil myself with some chocolate, though that’s not really unusual!
I really don’t especially mind being single today, it’s just another day really!

Silkiechickscat · 14/02/2021 12:27

Thanks Mother It's looking hopeful, DH has made it downstairs.

Nothing really planned for Valentine's Day here as we knew it was the day after the vaccine. We switched the Sunday roast to yesterday. Though I have already wished DH a happy valentine's day and reminded him 16 years ago today I did the IVF-ICSI transfer for DD. Grin

Sunbird24 · 14/02/2021 12:30

Ahh @Silkiechickscat that’s a good anniversary to have! I should be doing a FET on Friday with a 5day blast, so if that sticks today will be my nominal conception date (even though that really happened back in October!)

Silkiechickscat · 14/02/2021 12:36

Then fingers and paws crossed for a Valentine's Day made baby for you Sunbird I wore lucky fluffy socks and had a 100% success rate so I can recommend them. I also told the clinic that I wanted first time success only.

Squirrel26 · 14/02/2021 14:44

Well. I have cleaned the bathroom. And the kitchen and washed the covers for an armchair, sorted the recycling and painted paint samples onto card and stuck them to the wall. And emptied the dishwasher. And cleaned the inside of the windows.

Now it’s time to walk the dog again. FML.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/02/2021 15:42

Squirrel Well done!
My leak fixing was not quite a success, there is another point where water comes out. But the washing is done.

I have enrolled for two classes: one for parents helping their DC with finding a profession (profession here meaning Ausbildungsberuf) and one for parents of autistic teens on the same topic. Both online. I even managed to get DS mildly interested in this year's job and uni fair. It's online, too, so no need for him to talk to people.

Deathraystare · 14/02/2021 18:17

'@MissConductUS' *@Nitflux Sorry I realise my questions could have resulted in a shtstorm! That wasn't my intention, I was just interested in the normal lives of normal Americans!!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/02/2021 18:21

I've made bulgur salad. DH bought wine vinegar instead of balsamico but the taste is fine, too.

MadameTuffington · 14/02/2021 18:25

My house rabbit Frank got his head stuck in a cardboard cube (he’s free of it now), DD18 having Valentine’s luxury takeaway with boyf, DD14 fascinated by Crime Scene on Netflix and providing a running commentary of loud opinion, DD23 went running, me made a lemon drizzle cake and lots of custard :)

should read DS23 - Christ, I would not be here if I had 3 girls 😱
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/02/2021 18:48

@Squirrel26, it made me feel exhausted just reading that lot!

Sunbird24 · 14/02/2021 18:54

@Squirrel26 you have earned yourself more Baileys!
@MadameTuffington may we see Frank? (With or without cardboard accessory...)

mathanxiety · 14/02/2021 19:14

We have wind chills way under the freezing mark today. I'm going to have to bundle up later and give the car a spin to keep engine parts from seizing up.

I found a specific brand and flavour of breakfast sausage on sale for a ridiculous price yesterday while out shopping, so bought two packets for DS and I'll drop them off along with the three tins of Aldi organic red kidney beans I found earlier in the week. The beans have not made an appearance at Aldi for months. DS has exams every day this coming week or he would swing by and pick them up himself.

I also bought flat white shoelaces for DS' rescue cat, who has destroyed all of his toy mice and birds. DS has discovered that the cat loves shoelaces more than life itself. My own Dcat loves licking plastic bags from the supermarket. We have to cut the handles to keep her from getting tangled up in them.

Frownette · 14/02/2021 19:54

I'm going slightly insane with lockdown rules. You cannot do anything normal like go to the museum or travel to see your friends.

I can't even make small decisions like chocolate or cheese

DenisetheMenace · 14/02/2021 20:07

Our black and white kitten has developed a thick, completely white undercoat. Her completely black sister has become auburn. Can’t wait for the outcomes!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/02/2021 20:08

mathanxiety
Our Sev loved charger cables. He hunted for them in every bag, under pillows, and wherever we tried to hide them and then he would kill them and look pleased with himself.

They promise me -10°C on my way to work tomorrow.

ChairOfThePTA · 14/02/2021 20:13

My Facebook page did ‘a throwback’ to a post and photo of a night out of me and the ladies and gent of my PTA enjoying a curry down the high street 11 years ago (I was the Chair). Good times. Smile
