I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Thanks @Deathraystare for the Circulon recommendation ..
I'd love a steamer as well so just going to do some research at the weekend and then put in our order.

It's very windy here tonight. I'm lying in bed listening to it and it's very pleasant .

Snog · 13/02/2021 07:27

Oh my Silkiecat is super adorable!

HelenaJustina · 13/02/2021 08:23

@Frownette I do indeed, need to be on site for tree surgeons on Monday, then have SLT meetings on Wednesday and Thursday but only for a couple of hours each. I will be doing lots of sleeping (and entertaining 4DC who are already moaning that it’s going to be a boring week!)

Champagneforeveryone · 13/02/2021 08:48

We are parked outside the trotter doctors. DDog 3 2 takes a very dim view of:
A) The cold
B) Hurt feet
C) Other dogs

Thankfully we're only at 2/3 so far Confused

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/02/2021 08:59

What a lovely cuddly-looking puss, @Silkiechickscat!

I finished my stash buster scarf. Here it is, modelled on the big fat elephant that officially belongs to dd1 (40+ now) but he still lives here, and sadly misses the Gdcs cuddling up to him.
Shall post the scarf off on Monday. 🤞it will be squashy enough for Click and Drop and the letterbox.

Frownette · 13/02/2021 09:01

Helena I remember you talking about standing out in the cold with work.

Champagne cat took a very dim view of going to the vets, she was pinging off the shelves and desks like a ricochet and the vet said "You're a cheeky little thing, aren't you, yes you are" then in an unexpected manoeuvre she got into the inside of my long coat and started climbing up. It's very uncomfortable having a cat climb up you. The whole room was like 'wooah...'.

I took a huge gulp of what I thought was left over cordial in the kitchen this morning then realised it was brandy and it burnt and had cheeks like a hamster before I spat it out, all over myself, nice. I'm having to go wash again.

Sunbird24 · 13/02/2021 09:09

It is grey and miserable outside so I’m having leftover pizza and Vanilla Coke in bed for breakfast, then going to stand in a hot shower inhaling steam for ages to try and loosen my chest. Painted my nails last night with a polish I got in my Birchbox and can’t quite decide if I like it. It’s a nude-ish colour so can get away with it for work.

sueelleker · 13/02/2021 09:12

Having my first C jab this morning. Luckily my surgery is doing them, so I won't have to travel for miles. Especially as we don't have a car.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 09:47

silkie What a lovely cat and a lovely picture, too!!

We were very lucky to have very relaxed cats at the vets.
I will try and fix the leaky inlet to the washing machine in a minute.

It's sunny and around -5 at the moment.

DP has decided we are doing our family Sunday walk today as the weather is looking bad tomorrow.

HelenaJustina · 13/02/2021 11:02

I’ve been for a run, cleared up the breakfast bombsite and put the second load of washing on. Getting all the uniform done and out of the way early in the holiday is very satisfying.
I need to do muchos tidying, my house slides slowly downhill during term time until I have the time and energy to blitz each holiday. It’s not dirty just not tidy!

Silkiechickscat · 13/02/2021 11:04

Silkiecat thanks everyone admiring how cute she is and Silkiecat agrees that she is very cute.

DH is just back from his vaccine and proudly showing me his sticker. He told me last night that the doctors will do further skin biopsies after this one.

It's half term now which is another week of doing nothing for DS. I've been trying to do some change of address things but its proving complicated - the one kept asking things like did you subscribe to a catalogue in 2001, and suggested 3 or no. Confused and about 8 similar questions. And then it seemed to insist I had a mobile phone in 2001 when I didn't.

Silkiechickscat · 13/02/2021 11:07

That's a very cute elephant and scarft Mother, seems a shame to seperate them though as the elephant wears the scarf very well and might be cold without it. Grin

TheySeeHerRowling · 13/02/2021 11:20

I have to go into town to collect a prescription for dd and was planning to combine it with a walk along the seafront but the wind is howling out there! Hope it drops at least a little.

Squirrel26 · 13/02/2021 11:34

My paint samples have arrived so later I will paint some bits of card and stick them up against the wall to see which is best (they are all v. similar shades of blue, so they’ll probably all look the same.)

But first, washing.

Sunbird24 · 13/02/2021 12:39

I have a spot inside my nostril and it hurts.

Squirrel26 · 13/02/2021 13:11

The ‘rural mounted patrol’ just patrolled past the window. My dog walker told me about them and I thought she’d just got confused and seen some horse riders in high vis. But no: They are a thing.

Nydj · 13/02/2021 15:00

I have borrowed my sister’s instant pot and have spend a couple of hours trying to make one thing - daal. I think I am being too tentative in the amount of time I am cooking it under pressure.

MissConductUS · 13/02/2021 16:28

Good afternoon, lovely people of the thread. Smile

It's been a busy morning on this side of the pond. I've exercised, showered, had some breakfast and been to the supermarket, which was awash with Valentine's Day tat (note the skillfully used Britishism). DH has also been out for a shop and came home with some lovely tulips for me. We don't make a huge deal out of Valentine's Day but I have a few things and card I'll give him tomorrow and he'll probably have similar for me.

Lovely cat picture Silkie. Silkiecat looks a lot like my Dgirlcat.

My bathroom scale is malfunctioning. It is showing a small but steady weight gain since I had to stop running. It's been really reliable up until now.

Nydj, there are loads of videos on youtube on how to make almost anything in the Instant Pot. Were you not able to find an Instant Pot recipe for daal? And yes, I had to google daal. I'm now trying to think of some American foods you all have never heard of, but I'm not having much luck.

Dahl looks and sounds tasty and you can use all sorts of legumes (?) (Hülsenfrüchte) for it.
I've not done anything from my list, the leak still waits to be fixed, I need to write cards, there is a cake to be made, but my oomph is gone.
Instead I'm eating chocolate puffed rice (Nippon) and listen to music.

Sunbird24 · 13/02/2021 17:10

@Prokupatuscrakedatus - lentils?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 17:16

sunbird lentils = Linsen
Hülsenfrüchte = lentils, beans, peas, chickpeas etc. - There seem to be endless variations of dishes called Dahl. I wasted about an hour on cooking sites. That's why I became hungry and had to eat those rice things.

Nydj · 13/02/2021 17:18

Thanks @MissConductUS, my sister was guiding me as she has made the daal in her instant pot a few times already. We have identified the problem as the ingredients - I made it again with a different packet of lentils and these seems to be cooking much quicker. The daal I am aiming for is this one - so a little different from the ones that most recipes show and the ones in most UK restaurants.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 17:38

Nydj I saved this - sth DH would probably enjoy very much. Thank you.

Ahh, I think it might be pulses in that case! Now I have learned 2 new German words, but it still won’t appease the Duolingo owl, as I’m supposed to be improving my French... 😂
