sunbird pulses - noted.
The owl has been to see me, to, and I did the minimum Duo expects from me.
Try watching Bruno Cremer's Maigret.

The weather forecast said heavy snow showers this afternoon, but so far we've had about three flakes. I feel as if I've been tricked as I was quite looking forward to seeing it!
We are having BT rolls for tea.
It was going to be BLTs, but apparently we both forgot to get any L with the shopping yesterday. (On the other hand we both bought chocolates for Valentines Day tomorrow ...)

mathanxiety · 13/02/2021 17:52

Tonight we'll have the last of the chili.

I'm going out to the supermarket today through light snowfall because tomorrow is going to be cold enough to freeze a brass monkey. I'm going to buy a boneless pork shoulder and potatoes, also mushrooms (I have stock to make soup) and avocados. If I can't find a decent pork shoulder I'll make Italian sausage lasagna and we'll have that with salad for a few days.

I might make a French style afternoon pick-me-up cake today too. DD4 made blondies two nights ago and there are only two left from the original sixteen so I think there is a good chance it would be greeted enthusiastically.

I'm now trying to think of some American foods you all have never heard of, but I'm not having much luck.
@MissConductUS - I once threw a whole thread into uproar and cognitive dissonance by extolling the merits of a good old fashioned low country boil.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER, that elephant has a lovely, friendly expression.

mathanxiety · 13/02/2021 17:55

DD4 has a 55 day streak on Duo. She is learning Irish and I am helping her cheat.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 18:01

Future learn teaches Irish. I think it has reached about 10 courses now.
Irish

Nydj · 13/02/2021 18:20

You’re very welcome @Prokupatuscrakedatus. The website I linked to, Hebber, is good for lots of Indian recipes - I just have to reduce the chillis by a fair bit as I cannot take that much heat.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 18:27

@nydj me neither, but DH makes chili sauces from chilis you can only cut outside in gloves, glasses and a wet T-Shirt covering your face. So he should be OK.

I still haven't done any work.

HappyStep1 · 13/02/2021 18:30

The Co-op had the olive bread I love, managed to get the last loaf and therefore my day wasn't ruined.

Namechangegame123 · 13/02/2021 18:32

I am slowly getting fat.

Nydj · 13/02/2021 18:35

@Namechangegame123, if you need any tips on speeding up the process, I’d be happy to help although it’s pretty effortless for me

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 18:38

@Namechangegame123
Missconduct has a brownie recipe that should help, too.

Sunbird24 · 13/02/2021 18:46

@Namechangegame123 me too. I recommend orange Matchmakers.

MindfulBitch · 13/02/2021 18:51

I did my sisters nails and she cut my husbands hair.

MissConductUS · 13/02/2021 18:58

Welcome, @Namechangegame123 and thanks for sharing your news. I might have to consider the possibility that my bathroom scale is not actually malfunctioning.

@Namechangegame123

I am slowly getting fat.
Wish it was 'slowly' in my case!
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 19:23

mindful were you sitting in a circle Little Women style?

Namechangegame123 · 13/02/2021 19:35

Mmmm....yes. I would gladly welcome misconducts recipe.

I find this thread very soothing. My head is playing day-spa like relaxation music as I read it.

HelenaJustina · 13/02/2021 20:03

We went to Mass this evening as DC4 was committing to sacramental preparation. It was the first time all 6 of us had been in a car together for a good while. And I’m worried that I’ll feel discombobulated tomorrow morning - may have to go again to reset my inner clock.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 20:24

We can't celebrate Karneval again (not that it is a big feast in Berlin, it's a traditionally Lutheran area and the Romans were never here either), but Lent starts nevertheless from Ash Wednesday onwards.
DH - being from an Allemanic region traditionally starts later and includes all Sundays (think Morgenstreich-like traditions)

MissConductUS · 13/02/2021 20:44

Welcome, @MindfulBitch, and thanks for sharing your personal care news. It was a huge relief for me when hair stylists reopened here last year.

@Namechangegame123 if you want the Death by Chocoate brownie recipe just pm me with your email address and I'll send it to you as a PDF. That offer is also open to anyone reading this thread.

DS has organized a virtual birthday party for himself tonight on Zoom. Several friends from uni and two who he went to high school with will be in attendance. I think this is a charming idea and just wish there was a way to provide cake.

It is called pleasantly and pleasingly taking up unallocated space. If you didn't do this noble deed, who would? Have you contacted the council about their wastefulness regarding civic duty?

Brownies ahoy.

My housemate went to bed early saying he was tired (aka I was chatting too much). He can't wake up tomorrow and expect me not to, it's par for the course. Think he just needs a few hours to recover. Then I'll commence.

MissConductUS · 13/02/2021 21:15

Frownette, what, pray tell, will you commence once he's recovered? Grin

Would definitely recommend - DS and I made a batch this afternoon in between my instant pot daal attempts ( the daal was nice by the way).

HelenaJustina · 13/02/2021 21:37

Am watching Montalbano on BBC4, perfect escapism.
@Prokupatuscrakedatus she is signing up to prepare for First Confession and First Holy Communion, she is very pleased with herself. My last baby is growing up!
