John Lewis sell quite a few, not sure if Waitrose will stock as well though think you can get delivery to a Waitrose:

www.johnlewis.com/browse/gifts/gift-food-alcohol/chocolate-boxes-of-chocolate/_/N-2q3pZ1yzv5a9

I would get him a box now if you like him, it may look like you waited for them to go half price after Valentines if after Grin My DH would probably like the sheep best but sounds like he may have more refined taste.

crochetblanket · 09/02/2021 11:03

So I'm still in bed after tea and toast, in a bit I'm going to pull on big coat, and bobble hat and attack the garden again. I might wear my jeans over my pj's as no one knows and it keeps my legs warm. I found a wheelbarrow in the shed the other day and its most useful.

HildaTablet · 09/02/2021 11:19

The Chocolate Trading Company is very reliable, Frownette. I’ve bought high quality boxed chocolates (delicious) as gifts, and I buy all my baking chocolate from them as well, in huge bags.

Squirrel26 · 09/02/2021 11:27

I’ve found Hotel Chocolat pretty reliable in the past, @Frownette.

Tiny amounts of snow here, and the sun has just come out.

Slept really late today and now I'm sitting in the kitchen with a cup of coffee. I've had some sort of head cold for the past two weeks and can't seem to shift it. Not Covid - been tested. I just want it to go away now.

May prize the doggo from the sofa and go for a walk in the snow. May not too, because he hates the cold 😂😂😂

I got new hiking boots last week and I'm so pleased I did. My trainers were getting soaked and I may or may not have gone arse over tit in the mud a couple of times... Hmm😂

Squirrel26 · 09/02/2021 13:28

I was annoyed about something, but I’ve had a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit and I’m feeling much better now.

HelenaJustina · 09/02/2021 13:45

@Squirrel26 tea and chocolate biscuit should be written up in medical journals as almost universal panacea.
@Frownette Hotel Chocolat do sleekster box selections which they promise will fit through a letter box.

forgetthehousework · 09/02/2021 13:52

Just can't get motivated at the moment. Everything is dull and unexciting.
Thank heavens for this thread.
Obviously my natural home .....

MissConductUS · 09/02/2021 14:00

Welcome, @crochetblanket, and thanks for sharing your news. I too am old and grumpy fiesty when needed. I'm just warning you, there are a lot of younguns on this thread.

@Spudlet - Good luck at the dentist today, let us know how it goes.

@Frownette - That's great that you rang him and are going to give him something. Sometimes men need a little nudge to convince them that there really is some interest on our side.

I have some fabulous chocolate cookies biscuits in the house. I may have to have one with some coffee.

It's snowing again today. The forecast is for about 3 inches, ending in the late afternoon. A high vis orange snow plow has just gone by on our road. I am working from home.

Now @MissConductUS, are you certain that what you have, are indeed chocolate biscuits and not chocolate cookies? There is a distinction in the UK. Choc biscuits are chocolates on or in flat, crisp biscuits [[https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/feb/24/chocolate-digestives-best-worst-taste-test-mcvities-supermarket-brands See these for an example]] Cookies are thicker, more rugged looking than biscuits see these for an example.
The most disappointing thing about cookies from the shops in the UK is that they are not usually soft and chewy in the middle like the ones in the USA. Sometimes they are but not always. The ones baked in the supermarket can be soft and chewy in the middle but the factory ones tend not to be.
I am meant to be trying to lose some weight - can you tell?

Squirrel26 · 09/02/2021 14:31

I actually had a Penguin which I should properly have referred to as a chocolate biscuit bar.

That is what Ocado call it, anyway.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/02/2021 14:45

I am sitting in my office discussing spiral ducts (Wickelfalzrohre) anf you talk about sweet bakeware. Stop, please!!!

MissConductUS · 09/02/2021 15:37

@Nydj - the ones I have at the moment are in fact thin and crispy, so they would meet your biscuit criteria:

Tate's Bake Shop Thin & Crispy Cookies, Double Chocolate Chip, 7 Oz, 4Count

I didn't even know they were on Amazon until I searched for them on google.
@EggyPegg Did your DH ever notice your hair in the end? Hope you are OK.

I'm going through e-mails and accounts, still trying to sort paperwork from house sale. Also watching on Netflix The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
@Silkiechickscat I mentioned on Friday that I needed a frige cut (it's getting St. Bernard like). Later on he looked at me again and and said 'it is getting long isn't it' and I cracked and told him that I'd cut 11 inches off 13 days previously. He looked dumbstruck, burst out laughing and acknowledged that observancy isn't his strong suit. He said in his defence it's still long.

I'm well thank you. Decided to take a bit of a break from anything social media related and try to be on my phone less.

I have missed this thread though and my quick scan through just now has made me realise just how comforting it is.

So I shall return with the news I wanted to share yesterday. I bought new toothpaste on Sunday. I do not like the taste.

crochetblanket · 09/02/2021 17:15

Thank you for the welcome, I have a lot on my mind at the moment so that was nice.
I've just come in from gardening as it was too cold and I came over a bit funny. I also painted a wall in white as that's all I had. I am under the duvet having a cheese sandwich but I've run out of milk.

EggyPegg · 09/02/2021 17:37

We have been clearing the loft and have brought down a big box. Can you spot EggyCat1?

HelenaJustina · 09/02/2021 17:38

I need to clean the bathrooms

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/02/2021 17:42

eggy Might he be in the box? Smile
They have let me out of the office and tomorrow I can WFH.

Sunbird24 · 09/02/2021 18:10

I can see an EggyCat tail I think! 😁

Spudlet · 09/02/2021 18:26

I spy an Eggy cat tail!

I survived the dentist - actually made it there which was a step forward...! I had to have the offending tooth re-filled which is good actually as the old filling was black and he’s put a white one in instead so it looks better. The injection of anaesthetic was awful though, much more painful than it’s been before and I felt quite dizzy for a few minutes afterwards. Poor dentist and dental nurse, having an unexpected Victorian lady taking to her fainting chaise on their dentist’s chair 🙈😳 They were lovely about it though.

Unfortunately my mouth and face and ear are now all numb, so I’ve had to drink through a straw 🙈

QuestionableMouse · 09/02/2021 18:42

Might be too exciting for the thread but I made mince and dumplings for tea. It's lovely and just what I needed after the cold today!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/02/2021 18:47

First you all talk about cookies and now you show me actual food.

DH has been in a zoom meeting since before I came home, the fridge is more or less empty and there is a curfew on. I should have stopped at that lovely Sicilian streetfood stand at the market.

forgetthehousework · 09/02/2021 19:01

I have motivated myself enough to make two batches of little cakes, one lot salted caramel and chocolate chips, the other with raspberry gin soaked sultana's. (Sorry Prok!)

EggyPegg · 09/02/2021 19:03

There is indeed a tail!

We'll done Spudlet for facing your fear! Anaesthetic is always the worst bit.

DH bought this and it's just arrived. We've just been having a go and are now both soaking wet. It's lethal!
