@EggyPegg - what are you supposed to do with it?

EggyPegg · 09/02/2021 19:15

It squirts water to clear plaque from those hard to reach areas! It's vicious and there's now water everywhere!

Silkiechickscat · 09/02/2021 19:22

Glad to have you and Eggycats back Eggy Grin Eggycat is cute in there and as good at hiding as Silkiecat.

Just did the remote learning with DS today - Englishx2, RE, Computing and Science. DS got very grumpy in science as there was a quiz which he got me to type answers in for and it was speed based and we weren't first, second or third as I had to read them to him and also he decided he wasn't looking at some of the pictures he would just guess then some were wrong and he was very growly about that. Then I've been sorting bank accounts and tax again and clearing e-mails.

Some of snow has melted. We have a collection of rabbit run, old table and not working lawnmower from 6am tomorrow but DH decided its best to wait until its pitch dark and snowy outside.

Spudlet · 09/02/2021 19:30

In hound related news, Spuddog has his pyjamas on. He feels the cold a bit more than he used to.

Champagneforeveryone · 09/02/2021 20:07

Ooh, DDog 3 2 would be very interested in SpudDogs pyjamas spudlet.

She feels the cold really badly, but her unfortunate breeding makes the purchase of "off the rail" dog coats almost impossible. Instead she rucks all the sofa cushions into a big heap and nestles underneath them until someone lights the fire for her Grin

Champagneforeveryone · 09/02/2021 20:08

I seem to have my bolds and italics mixed up there somehow Hmm

Sunbird24 · 09/02/2021 20:11

Lincolnshire Wildlife Park has a new baby eclectus parrot! It looks like a tiny alien...

It's lovely to see you Eggy. Smile

DS has exactly the same oral irrigators sold under a different brand name. I have one that sits on the counter and plugs into an electrical outlet.

Here is the trick to avoid the mess. Never turn it on unless it is inside your mouth, pointing between your teeth and always turn it off before taking it out of your mouth. It takes some getting used to but I haven't sprayed the mirror in years. And they do a brilliant job cleaning your teeth.

Spudlet, I'm glad you survived your dental work. Did they swab your gums with a topical numbing agent before giving you the injections? That helps a lot.

I hate the local anaesthetic injection. Last time I convinced the dentist to do it without. Then the next day the filling fell out and I had to go back and he basically said ‘I told you so.’ Blush

Might have a cup of tea to warm up.

soddingkitten · 09/02/2021 20:42

Thank you for asking after my endless report, Frownette. I got through it eventually. The provider has done a pretty good job, but there are a couple of sections that are under-developed which only borderline scrape through meeting the brief. I have arranged a zoom meeting with my colleague to discuss whether we need to ask them to rework it, or whether we can accept it as submitted. It doesn’t help that one section was an obvious c&p from another report because the numbering wasn’t corrected. 🤦‍♂️

It has turned bitterly cold here, which has turned Sodding into a complete lap cat. We’ve had some fantastic cuddles over the last couple of days. Even DS has forgiven him for his weekend antics.

Spudlet · 09/02/2021 21:34

Nah, this is an NHS dentist @MissConductUS - no time for that sort of luxuriousness Grin TBF it isn’t normally too bad but this one was painful - I don’t know if he hit a nerve or something. It’s all ok now though.

@Champagneforeveryone It’s a Hotterdog fleece - it’s pretty good. I did make a coat to measure for him as well though, with a tutorial I found online. Might be handy for the more individually shaped canine!

Squirrel26 · 09/02/2021 21:51

I have to drop the car off for it’s MOT first thing tomorrow. I have not filled up the screen wash or removed the crap from the boot because obviously that is exactly what I’ll feel like doing in the morning in the freezing cold.

Oh well. I’m in bed now.

Silkiechickscat · 09/02/2021 22:42

DH and DD put the old table out for council collection. The cat is not happy with them as she lies on both tables and the mattress but two tables and 1 mattress in a dining room is too much. DD wants the mattress for her but doesn't want to further upset the cat.

EggyPegg · 09/02/2021 22:57

Good luck with the MOT @Squirrel26

I went to pick up my courtesy car today. Someone rear-ended me on the 29th as I was stationary at some lights and put a debt in my boot and some scuffs around it. He said he wanted to pay for it privately but then didn't respond to my calls or messages so I've gone through the insurance.

The new car is very swanky. The seats are electric and when you switch the engine off, it slides back to allow you to get out if the car easier. When you switch it on, it slides back into your preferred driving position.

It's an automatic though which took me a moment to adjust to. My last car was an automatic, but you get used to your own transmission so quickly that this was an adjustment.

My car is being collected tomorrow at some point so I spent this afternoon clearing all the crap out of the boot (and door pockets) and giving if a sweep/hoover. There were still pine needles in there from the Christmas tree. The shininess of the new car has given me The Shame and I spent some time googling local valet companies.

soddingkitten · 10/02/2021 00:25

Why would you pay to have it valeted? The repair company will valet before returning it to you and you will deprive someone of a really satisfying valet job with tangible improvements. 🤷

Silkiechickscat · 10/02/2021 06:39

I have finally finished doing the accounts file.

DH has just put out the rabbit run and broken lawnmower to go with the old table for council collection, they said it had to be out by 6am Shock

DH is now taking a shower.

I watched Below Deck Series 8 latest one out. Now watching Australia Zoo programme on Discovery.

EggyPegg · 10/02/2021 07:53

I was hoping that the repair company would valet it! No success with my googling anyway, they'd all closed for the day.

My old garage used to valet it after its MOT for no additional charge, which was amazing. When we moved, I did keep going there for a few years, despite the longer journey, but that got harder once the DC were born.

Silkiechickscat · 10/02/2021 08:01

DH is getting called in for covid vaccine on Saturday and now he's very worried why he's being called in so early. He checked online and its the time for cancer patients to be vaccinated so he was Hmm and phoned GP who said he knew nothing. I told DH to phone hospital.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/02/2021 08:03

Good morning,
woke up the the weather report saying -11°C outside, so I am glad I can WFH today. It is very lightly snowing again and I'll start working now.

I have just remembered that I used the word 'bakeware', that's not an English word is it? My mind was on Backware, which is an umbrella term for all those cookies and biscuits that were discussed.

ShyAmy333 · 10/02/2021 08:08

Laddered my tights putting them on

soddingkitten · 10/02/2021 08:11

Silkie Has your DH had the results of his biopsies/excisions yet, or are you still waiting?

soddingkitten · 10/02/2021 08:16

@ShyAmy333

Laddered my tights putting them on
That is perfect news amy.

We got out of sych with our online deliveries so I’ve been gradually clawing them back to get to weekend deliveries. It’s meant a 6 day interval only before last night’s delivery and we are still eating up last Wednesday’s shop. I did second-pass freezer Tetris this morning to try and stow away more of the bread/carbs mountain. I found space for the cheese (English) muffins and a pack of bagels, but no more.

Silkiechickscat · 10/02/2021 08:28

He's still waiting for results of biopsies - the doctor at the hospital implied it was cancer but not which stage but ECV list looks like its for people undergoing chemo etc so I hope that's an error or he's just added as a precaution. GP doesn't know but GPs are very slow and when I had cancer test they didn't have results for weeks after hospital. It would imply if right its stage 4 or maybe stage 3 so hope that's wrong or I'm reading it wrong.

soddingkitten · 10/02/2021 08:30

Oh Silkie, that’s awful. I know your immediate priority will be your DH’s diagnosis and treatment, but this is not OK and I think you should complain.

HildaTablet · 10/02/2021 08:32

Prok 'bakeware' is a perfectly valid English word but it's more usually a term for the equipment you use to make the cakes - the cake tins, oven trays, muffin moulds etc. I suppose we'd be more likely to say 'baked goods' if we meant the actual cakes themselves.

I continue to be full of admiration for your fluent English and, in glaring contrast, full of embarrassment for my own terrible sub-O-level German Grin
