Very sensible sunbird Wink

helenajustina I stopped listening to The Archers at the start of lockdown when they ran out of episodes and started with The Terrible Monologues. I've never managed to get back into it, having dipped back in at a point where Alice was pregnant but still secretly drinking and it absolutely wasn't her fault. My second foray was when Gavin was spilling the beans about Philip to Kirsty and ruining her life again It felt like there was enough angst in the world without The Archers adding to it Confused

DDog3's new long line arrived today, so now she can go out with DH without being an utter hag. Unfortunately it's minus three outside and DH does not have the ability to change this, so DDog3 gave him a jaundiced eye and settled back into the cushions Grin

@Sunbird24

I opened a box of orange Matchmakers earlier and found every single stick broken into tiny bits. One serving is 4 sticks; I couldn’t work out how many tiny bits that was so I ate all of them.
That seems like the best plan of action
Frownette · 08/02/2021 20:08

I've honestly never listened to the Archers! Is it that compelling?!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/02/2021 20:19

Back in my university times (last century - when Shula met Mark?) the teachers forced us to listen to The Archers to train our ears.

sunbird You are very wise!

Frownette · 08/02/2021 20:30

Prok they did a good job, you are absolutely fluent.

Therainisback · 08/02/2021 20:36

I used to listen to the Archers but had to switch from Radio 4 as the political bias gave me the rage. I now listen to Radio 2 and am much happier for it. I could flit between the 2 stations but I'm too lazy.

Sunbird24 · 08/02/2021 20:47

My parents used to listen to the Archers religiously, but stopped when they killed off Nigel Pargetter.

Squirrel26 · 08/02/2021 21:02

I am freezing. I went to ride my horse, and I don’t know if anyone has noticed but it’s REALLY COLD outside. He was unimpressed, trampled on my foot and tried to bite me on my right boob. Fortunately I had two coats on.

Eating cake in the hope the calories help me generate some heat.

MissConductUS · 08/02/2021 21:11

Oh that's really sweet @MissConductUS, so lovely!

It was lovely, and I rather shocked myself by being so bold about it. Grin

I think that Yanks tend to be more forward in general too.

Perhaps your horse has a different idea of fun than you have?
On my way home I encountered a guy in shorts doing some running and as I mentioned somewhere uptherads: DH knows an elderly lady who picks holes in ice and jumps into the river for a bath.

Sunbird24 · 08/02/2021 23:58

I’m watching a parrot egg hatch on the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park page on Facebook. The bit where it actually breaks free will be terribly exciting but the several hours of lead up might just be ok for this thread...

MissConductUS · 09/02/2021 00:17

That does sound appropriate for this thread. By the way, your khaki eyeliner with the gold flecks sounds smashing, but I doubt I could pull off that look at my age.

It’s very subtle Miss, you’d be surprised

crochetblanket · 09/02/2021 02:10

I did some gardening it was very cold but I was warm and then it snowed on me. It was lovely watching the snow as it was sunny as well. Later someone rang me and was patronising because they thought I was a meek little old person but now they know not to mess with me. I am lying in bed because I like it and can do what I want. I'm going to make tea and toast and then sleep til late.

Silkiechickscat · 09/02/2021 03:13

@EggyPegg Did your DH ever notice your hair in the end? Hope you are OK.

I'm going through e-mails and accounts, still trying to sort paperwork from house sale. Also watching on Netflix The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

mathanxiety · 09/02/2021 04:47

I know they're birds, but for some reason I have never associated parrots with nests or eggs.

halfpasteleven · 09/02/2021 04:48

I changed the bed linen on our bed tonight. DD just woke up for a bottle, it's lovely snuggling her under the duvet.

mathanxiety · 09/02/2021 04:54

@Frownette, the danger of posting chocolates after Valentines Day is that he will think you regifted them.

Sunbird24 · 09/02/2021 09:07

The parrot didn’t hatch last night and now I am a zombie!

From my cozy spot in bed with my work laptop I can see through the window that there’s a man in hi-vis on the roof opposite. If he looked this way he would probably see me too. That would be awkward.

Spudlet · 09/02/2021 09:18

It’s take two of trying to get to the dentist today, so I went for my run first thing. I say run - there were knee deep drifts in places so not much running happened there! Fun though.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 11: Calmly through the day
Frownette · 09/02/2021 10:25

Actually that was sorted! I said how much I adored him and wanted to give him a gift and he said go right ahead! So I think I can drop off some chocs and leave it at that, it won't be misinterpreted as a Valentine just thank you. I'll still do it a week after. Just to make sure.

Taswama · 09/02/2021 10:28

Interesting to see some Archers chat on here. I'm a regular on the Archers thread and any of you would be very welcome over there.

Prok - Archers to learn English is a brilliant idea. I used to make my students watch the weather forecast, which was surprisingly difficult. I'm afraid I have some bad news about Mark...

Frownette · 09/02/2021 10:30

Wherabouts do you source a small box of high quality chocs during lockdown...?

This throws up all sorts of conundrums

Frownette · 09/02/2021 10:31

I can't even say hello to a chocolate, let alone see my friends or woo a man

Taswama · 09/02/2021 10:46

Hôtel Chocolat @Frownette ?
