Poor, poor woman

Complete lack of support and nowhere to turn.
A terrible deed but I feel so sorry for her.
And where the fuck was her ex? Living in Spain while she was driven to despair.

I remember he was quite harsh about her at the beginning and bangs on about all the love and time he had for his child ... he had quite literally skipped the country on them after selling the family home and leaving her in a 2 bedroom flat with a pubescent child with severe needs.

At least, as a society, we're starting to see these situations for what they are. Those poor women (and their children).

Probably in the minority but no. I feel sorry for that poor boy killed by the one person he should have been able to trust.

A terrible act, but i have nothing but sympathy for her. Even when the story broke, I had suspicions that this was the back story. She's not a monster, just a very real example of what happens when women get abandoned by society, and left to struggle in the most unimaginable circumstances.

I was very sad when I heard that story. I hope the woman will get the right support with her obviously very severe mental health problems.

I thought this too, poor woman. Where was the father? Living in Spain, saying how much he loved his son. Why live in Spain then?!

Shes obviously someone who was suffering immensely with her mental health, reaching out and getting ignored by those who could help. Sleep deprivation is used as a means of torture and add into that being confined to a flat with severely disabled child, a father living in another country therefore offering zero help even the strongest of people would break.

@HallowedGround I’ve not snapped and murdered my children. I’m trapped in a tiny flat with 3 of them, one who has additional needs and the other two who are every bit as demanding. I’ve no help or support from friends, family and have been through several of my own mental health crisis in the last 10 years. But I’ve still not murdered my children.

His father should be charged with neglect & failure to protect. Instead he'll get sympathy in this messed up country. Non resident parents need holding to account & forced, if necessary, to shoulder their share of responsibility.

that is a terrible story,
i cannot say poor poor woman though, why is she more deserving than other women who murder their children?
it is an anti lock down piece, i guess it is due to the virus.

Why does it have to be either or can you not feel sorry for both? Not to have any empathy with the situation that mother was in is worrying.

Aside from the awful father, how on earth did the UK reach the situation where local authorities were basically encouraged to withdraw care services for such a prolonged period? This happened in August, long after the initial crisis in march and when restrictions were low.

@witchesnest not everyone copes the same in the same situation. This woman clearly wasnt 'evil'. His dad was though. Who skips the country leaving his disabled son? Ah, a man who feels no responsibility.

I feel guilty for feeling sorry for her as she did kill her child.
But I do feel sorry for her, sleep deprivation and lockdown combined!?

@GreenlandTheMovie I’m not aware they were. I have 2 disabled children and none of their support services have stopped since March 2020
