Keep seeing a boy

Hi all

Have been reluctant to post here because I am not sure if I am away with the fairies or if this is real.

Every night, some times every other night I see a boy in my room. Just over my side table. He stares at me, I stare at him. I feel peaceful. He then just disappears? Like just whirls gently and goes. I hope this makes sense.

I do not know him. I do not recognise him. He does not scare me.
Do you think I am dreaming or could this be real?
He came last night. I woke up, checked my phone 3.07am, lay down, closed my eyes, opened them and there he was. He looked a while, smiled and went.

So confused. Any experience in this?

Do you live in a large house ? I read about a family who'd moved into a vacant wing of a house and the owners didn't did them for ages .

waitrosetrollydolly · 23/01/2021 11:08

*Didn't FIND them for ages

I once took a photo on a phone in my bedroom when I was about 17 and there was the faint but clear outline of a small child. A few months later my younger sister who was 6 at the time said she was scared to go downstairs cos she thought what she saw was my other sister, tapped her on the shoulder but when she turned round realised it was a boy but with a skeletal face with the eyes and mouth drooping. And a few years after that my mum's partner woke in the night and a boy in the corner of the bedroom in the same spot I took the picture, but he was smiling this time, not scary looking.

Maybe check there's no mould on the walls behind your bed or any other furniture. Apparently black mould can cause hallucinations 🤷‍♀️

At night my dd used to see a man climb the stairs and walk into the small bedroom, in our old house. After we moved out a neighbour told me that a woman had been murdered in the back bedroom. 🤷‍♀️

VenusTiger · 23/01/2021 11:29

Ignore that post above - wrong thread.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 23/01/2021 12:32

If you'd posted this in The Unexplained section op, absolutely no one would have questioned your sanity!

BorderlineHappy · 23/01/2021 12:35

Right I have thought of something else.
Get your gas checked.
Carbon Monoxide poisoning can make you hallucinate.

relaxtakeiteasyeatcheese · 23/01/2021 12:39

Happens to me occasionally. Haven't seen anything really, just an odd feeling and occasional shadow in the corner of my vision. Must be my imagination.

BrownFootStool · 23/01/2021 14:00

It might be a sleep hallucination or it might be a ghost. Odds are that you will never know. If it isn't giving you any fear then that is great. I would recommend that you don't talk to him. Let it be what it is but don't 'feed' it, as it were.

Nickysofttouch · 23/01/2021 14:11

Thanks everyone for your input.

I did not see him last night maybe because I have openly spoke about it and got my head around the fact that it is more than likely because I am in some sort of sleep state.

Stress levels have been quite high at the mo so could be that too.
It is not scary as I have already said, so thank you all for your experiences and let's hope, now that I have half rationalised it, that it will be the end of it.

I think I am going to leave it there.

I do understand how people who have not been in this situation could think I am mentally ill. Confused. I assure you I am not. Its literally 10 to 20 seconds during the night, I am not witnessing things all day.
I have googled and read up on things and I am pretty sure its sleep related. I am not dismissing ghosts but I am not a big believer.
I posted just to see if anyone else had experienced similar and I am so relieved to see that a lot of you have.

My main 'wtf' was not recognising the person, still a bit wtf about that actually. Hmm

Is your boiler near your bedroom? You could be suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. That would explain why it takes a while to happen and only in one room

NotYourReindeer · 23/01/2021 15:51

I used to work in a care home and there were a few deaths that were preceeded by either a resident or member of staff seeing a little girl walking along a corridor late at night.

The fear I had walking down the corridor on my own!

I know logically that rhe residents had dementia and so would often see things that weren't there and the idea of a girl ghost is almost sublime fear fodder so staff will have been winding themselves up and then thinking they saw something.

I know it wasn't real but I bloody love a good ghost story.

NotYourReindeer · 23/01/2021 15:54

Not too happy with the "are you mentally ill/mentally stable" questions to OP.

I have mental health problems but don't believe in the paranormal. Perfectly sane people can have things happen to them that they can't explain.

I'm almost shocked that nobody has suggested Autism as a cause, that's as reasonable a response as "are you mentally stable".

Someone1987 · 23/01/2021 17:55

But to anyone else it could sound like it's an hallucination. If I was seeing a random person no one else could see I would be concerned for my mental health.

@Mumwithapub

Try getting in touch with a medium.
Yes, this is a great solution if you have an excess of money and need someone to relieve you of it Wink
roxyro · 23/01/2021 18:06

You are not mentally ill or having hallucinations. The boy isn’t a ghost. Just go with it. You won’t be harmed in anyway. Enjoy his visits. He’s from another dimension and before anyone says I’m nuts, I’m not.

BubblyBarbara · 23/01/2021 18:15

Not too happy with the "are you mentally ill/mentally stable" questions to OP.

Hallucinations are one of the most common symptoms of either mental illness or a negative condition affecting the brain (from lack of sleep up to being poisoned).

wonderwhatshappening1978 · 23/01/2021 18:15

@Trickyboy

Are you very very stressed OP ? My lovely lovely COMPLETELY sensible cousin started seeing Ninja Nuns (whatever the fuck they are ) over the last couple of months.

They were 'spying on her'... asked her husband to put up cctv .. (nothing there ) but that was because 'they are clever'... any way long and distressing story short ... she ran away from home. Police called. Found in a car park hiding behind a car....

5 days in a psychiatric ward for psychosis . Fabulous GP, medication and talking therapy.. well in the road to recovery . She is a project manager for an IT company. But her mum is in a care home and she can't see her. Sent her over the edge. No history of previous mental illness.

It can happen to anyone.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

How is she now?

If you say so!

I used to see a boy. I still do sometimes, but less often now. It started when my youngest 2 dc were 18 months and 3 and they used to see him too. He was around 2 or 3. As my boys got older I’ve seen less of him though he still appears occasionally. I didn’t ever see him in bed though, he’d mostly be watching me and the boys playing or looking at the Christmas tree/ balloons/ whatever.

partyatthepalace · 23/01/2021 18:58

It’s just a vivid dream is all.

As it’s not upsetting you don’t worry about it.

SpudsandGravy · 23/01/2021 19:03

Do you?

Did you tell the boys what you had seen?

Be careful not to project superstitions or a belief in the supernatural on to young children.

Here was no boy, because ghosts aren’t real. One of you thought you saw it, told the others then imagines ran away. It’s amazing the tricks the mind and eye can play on us.

But ghosts aren’t real
