Keep seeing a boy

Hi all

Have been reluctant to post here because I am not sure if I am away with the fairies or if this is real.

Every night, some times every other night I see a boy in my room. Just over my side table. He stares at me, I stare at him. I feel peaceful. He then just disappears? Like just whirls gently and goes. I hope this makes sense.

I do not know him. I do not recognise him. He does not scare me.
Do you think I am dreaming or could this be real?
He came last night. I woke up, checked my phone 3.07am, lay down, closed my eyes, opened them and there he was. He looked a while, smiled and went.

So confused. Any experience in this?

I used to hallucinate as a child when I was ill.

My mum still talks about me calmly telling her there was a strange lady standing behind her😂

Nickysofttouch · 22/01/2021 22:02

Maybe I am just a weirdo adult then Confused

I sound bloody daft and probably a bit cray but I am seeing this and it is happening. Whether it is real or not I do not know.

Nah, you're not a weirdo! I believe you... but there will be an explanation.

I used to get this a lot. I have parasomnia- it's basically night terrors. One of my recurrent ones a while back was seeing a young boy sat in the corner of my room looking at me. He never moved and I couldn't see through him- so he looked real. Eventually I just stopped seeing him.

Whirlwind14 · 22/01/2021 22:06

No personal experience as such but back in the summer our 3 yo started talking to someone in his room at night. For about a week he’d talk constantly about ‘the boy’ and although never actually scared, he said he couldn’t sleep because the boy was in his room again. It continued for about a month and then he just stopped talking about him and we didn’t hear him chatting again. Weird...

Whirlwind14 · 22/01/2021 22:07

Not saying there was a boy in his room because I don’t think I believe in it, but who knows?

CharlotteRose90 · 22/01/2021 22:07

My mum gets this and has done for years. She sees a little boy sitting on the end of her bed. She sometimes screams and sometimes she’s ok. I have only seen someone once and it was an old lady in old clothes that was staring at me. No idea who it was but I’ll never forget it

Nickysofttouch · 22/01/2021 22:08

No i dont see through this child either. Its literally just a person standing there. Same thing. Staring. Must be all of 10 seconds. I stare back feeling so peaceful. He smiles. And goes.

I then usually lie there for a while contemplating if my marbles are literally down the drain, sit up look about, nothing there and then take an age to go over to sleep.

Does this only happen during sleep or while you’re fully awake beforehand? If the latter you should see your doctor in case it’s a brain problem as cysts and the like pushing on different areas of the brain can cause “visions” etc. It could also be stress

Nickysofttouch · 22/01/2021 22:10

Could be a night terror although I never feel threatened.

My 6 yr old used to see a man all the time. I am not a believer in paranormal. Never have been. That is why I have sort kept this hidden a while. Weighing up what it could be and not be.

I always have woke up before this. So been asleep, woke up and lay there or woke up, checked phone, or one time woke up, used loo, lay down and he is there.
Every time has involved me closing my eyes for a while and then when they open he is there

No losses here.

Actually count myself lucky we have not had any losses in years x

What side of the room is he on relative to you? Is he on your left?

SnowFields · 22/01/2021 22:16

Have your googled your house’s history and the land it’s built on?

Sparkletastic · 22/01/2021 22:16

What are your stress levels and health like at the moment? Do you sleep well or suffer from interrupted sleep?

LeopardsCANTChangeTheirSpots · 22/01/2021 22:18

What's most likely?

A dream? A tired, yet understimulated mind playing tricks? Nah let's jump straight to ghost!

Seriously, I'd say a dream - you're in bed, drifting in and out of sleep, and have applied some kind of meaning to it. Then it's repeated itself because you're likely thinking "this is what I'm going to see tonight."

Maybe sleep paralysis, though this tends to be accompanied with a feeling of terror or doom, and sometimes a figure standing over you. Similar to sleep terrors I think, but you can't move.

I've been having more dreams than I used to lately - which I put down to being over tired and under stimulated in the current predicament we're in.

Also, do you have any drafts or pipes in your room? There's a certain frequency that can cause hallucinations due to the vibrational waves entering your eye ball - though I believe the visions are usually pretty shapeless. Thought to be the cause of most sightings in 'spooky' feeling haunted houses - cold air moving through an old window frame causes vibrations at just the right frequency...

Or a ghost. Could be a ghost.

It's not a ghost.

Someone1987 · 22/01/2021 22:18

Do you have mental health issues

Nickysofttouch · 22/01/2021 22:19

On the left. Always.

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 22:19

I'd be checking out the history of your home if I were you OP.
Sounds very spooky indeed.

Pukkatea · 22/01/2021 22:21

Interesting - I asked because even though it doesn't sound like traditional sleep paralysis, in most sleep paralysis episodes the 'figure' is on your left - something to do with the part of the brain responsible for generating the image.

Nickysofttouch · 22/01/2021 22:22

No history that I know of.

It is a turnkey house, so new build when we got it.

I agree possibly a dream but for it to happen so often and to be so so real is strange, that is why I ask on this.

I have no MH issues other than PND years ago, apart from that I am pretty well rounded.

I thought with night terrors you don't remember anything about them. My son had them when he was younger and was completely unaware anything had happened the next day. My youngest son saw a man in the mirror in our bedroom when he was about 2.5 yrs old. I then became a childminder and 2 of my children saw a man in the hall at different times. All 3 were boys, all approx 2.5 yrs old and all only mentioned the man once.

sodalite · 22/01/2021 22:24

Has anyone else ever seen him?
Do you have a partner you could wake and see if they could see anything?

LeopardsCANTChangeTheirSpots · 22/01/2021 22:24

Thanks god you went that way!

Thought it was going to be a 'spirit' that only occurs when laying on your left!

Wobblysausage · 22/01/2021 22:24

I once woke up and a young man was stood at the end of my bed just staring at me. I’m prone to night terrors and sleep paralysis but I don’t think it was either of those tunings as I’ve never experienced something so vivid and I don’t think I was asleep. Never saw him again.
