(3). Raonaid Murray murdered yards from her home. She was only 17.

@AgeLikeWine thanks. i didnt know that. i knew someone had been arrested, but wasn't sure of the details.

@Letsallscreamatthesistene cat face came into the lounge a while back smelling like lavender. turns out she'd been in the cupboard with the washing machine, found the dryer sheets and had managed to spread them all over the floor and roll on them/nap on them. she smelled amazing for days.

the Taman Should case is interesting!

Madeleine McCann
Asha Degree
Kyron Horman
William Tyrrell
Andrew Gosden
Ben Needham
Many more but can't remember specific names.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I also don't always accept the official narrative in some of these cases. It's really hard to separate truth from fiction sometimes.

@Handsoffstrikesagain

Trevaline Evans is quite possibly one of the oddest things I’ve ever read.
I live not far from where she vanished and was told once years ago that the police have a fairly good idea what happened to her but can’t prove it. Presumably they think she was murdered and have a suspect but there just isn’t enough evidence to prosecute.

@Handsoffstrikesagain

Ah yes I do remember reading that on here a while ago biscoff. I probably can’t say on here but they believe it was someone close to her don’t they?
Yes I think so. Obviously this could all be completely rubbish, but it’s probably the most likely explanation because when people are murdered it’s usually by someone they know.
WineInTheWillows · 19/01/2021 16:26

I just fell down a rabbit hole while clicking the Wikipedia link upthread about the Beaumont children. It's astonishing how many children were abducted/murdered in 60s and 70s Australia! And how many of those were unsolved.

Damien Nettles, who disappeared on the Isle of Wight aged 16

Paul Balmforth, a young man who disappeared on way home from work in Southampton in 2000.

Like others have said, I would have liked Keith Bennett’s grave to have been found before his poor Mum died.

I used to live close to Claudia Lawrence’s house, and drink in the pub she went to - before she did, I must say. I was attending the uni she worked at when she went missing.

It all brought it very close to home and made me realise that this stuff doesn’t just happen on the telly.

My relative lives next door to her house. It still hasn’t been sold. It’s as she left it. So sad.

WhatAreWordsWorth · 19/01/2021 16:32

Madeleine McCann.

Claudia Lawrence, because the police seem to think that someone knows something.

Another one that I rarely see mentioned is Judy Smith, a woman who went missing in Philadelphia and was found hundreds of miles away. It’s a completely baffling case where nothing adds up.

Lee Balkwell - really feel for his poor dad.
Corrie Mckeague - a real mystery
Katrice Lee - just awful

I think they decided that the bones were older than the two boys @Handsoffstrikesagain

Pikachan · 19/01/2021 16:43
  1. Jennifer Kesse
  2. Maura Murray
  3. The Springfield Three

They have a couple of pictures of the person of interest in the Jennifer Kesse case, but each time his face is obscured by the fence.

I also recently looked up the Liberty Germany and Abigail Williams case mentioned by an earlier poster. So tragic. Given that she had video footage of him and managed to record his voice, you’d think somebody would have come forward. I really feel for their families.

There's so many but the ones that stick in my mind are

Mary Boyle

Annie Mc Carrick

Teresa Halback

Philip Cairns
