What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

I’m looking forward to going to work and seeing loads of people far more than I used to!

Well the excitement here is palpable this morning. The AA are coming to fit a new battery in DH's car.

Our street is east-west orientation so even when there is sun, the houses to the north shade most of the road for most of the day. The few inches of snow we had at the weekend have packed down into a sheet of ice that's visible in places but not in others. Every few hours there's a squeak, a slithering noise and a thud outside as someone either slips over or falls off their bike. DH and I are taking it in turns to open a window and shout to make sure they're okay.

When my Dobies or Thompson and Morgan catalogues turn up DH drops them off on my desk with "your porn subscription has arrived"

I ordered a Rocket Gardens container veg patch and some additional tomatoes!

I also cycled in to work to use a bit of kit - a keyholder had to let me in despite me being told it would be left open as it's supposed to be in an IT suite that's supervised. Bet the keyholder wasn't prepared for a lengthy chat!

The wallpaper has arrived for DD's room.

I tried kale for the first time yesterday. It was very much not life-changing.

We get so much kale in the veg box, it's not funny. Still at least we get to have a surprise box every week.

Some new clothes arrived today, to add to the collection sitting, unworn in my wardrobe while I wear lycra

Or shred finely, deep fry for seconds, sprinkle with salt and sugar, Chinese takeout style seaweed 😃

New lamp posts are being fitted in my borough and today the one opposite my house was changed. I’ve been looking forward to seeing the process of removing and replacing a lamp post. I watched the different teams work and took some photos to text to husband who was on work calls at the back of the house and missed it all!

I bought new daylight strength lightbulbs for my office. The difference they make is amazing. I've literally never been this excited about light bulbs.

I have realised I don’t know how to crochet

I had booked a gas engineer to come a couple of weeks ago, but bad weather intervened. When he came this week he apologised for the delay. I told him no apology was needed, because it had given me something to look forward to!

I’ve ordered 4 new pillows for the bed. We have also ordered a new bed but the pillows are coming a couple of weeks before the bed. We had a discussion last night as to if to have them now or to wait. Peak of excitement in this house.

Thursdays are like Xmas - veg box comes, and the weekly shop. And today a box of wine arrived too, it's a very happy Thursday!!!

Our local vegan baker us doing home deliveries - I’ve just received a delivery of dough rings, yum yums, macaroni pies and a garlic tear and share bread - I will never be a thin vegan

I made some butter. I also now have biceps to rival Popeye

Next week I have to drive to Kidderminster, stay overnight in a Travelodge, and get a takeaway for dinner. Be still, my beating heart! NB the journey and stay are for reasons covered by current guidelines.
