What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

Sundays. I spend all week looking forward to Sundays.

The Archers omnibus AND we go for a long walk, followed by a stop off at the supermarket for “Sunday tea” stuff (which is basically baguette, ham, cheese, salad, etc. Which we eat on the sofa while we watch a film.

It’s too much.

drspouse · 28/01/2021 20:18

I've decided on a walk for this weekend.

thecatsthecats · 28/01/2021 20:31

I drew a really nice peacock the other day. Spent hours working out exactly how I ought to draw the feathers. Quite relaxing really.

Plussizejumpsuit · 28/01/2021 21:31

I'm loving these. Glad I started this thread. I hope irs bringing others some laughter.

My sister messaged me something really funny today. It was what somone had written on an appeal form as an excuse. I would share but it's so specific I can't. Anyway it made me laugh to myself for a good 5 mins at my desk. I'm giggling now.

So I think that's been the most interesting thing to happen to me for a while. A what's app message. What is my life eh?!

@DenisetheMenace I need to acquire more kale 🤣
Thank you @Plussizejumpsuit this thread is lovely. Friendly, funny and a wealth of random useful info. Between squeegees and Bissels and sharing strangers excitement about new lampposts and deliveries, this really highlights we are all in this together 😊

Passthecake30 · 29/01/2021 07:31

Highlight of the week is that I’ve learnt how to light our new log fire, a job that dp was hogging. It was going so well, until I lit it, and threw the match into the fire as advised... but not before I had blown the match out BlushGrin

LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 29/01/2021 07:40

I bought a new doormat and some de-icer yesterday. Oh, the thrill I feel every time I open the door and see my new doormat...

Ditto taking the 🐈 to the vet and chatting with her about litter trays.

LollipopViolet · 29/01/2021 07:53

I've got an eye test on the 6th and I'm so excited! I get to leave the house!!!

lightlypoached · 29/01/2021 07:55

Oh oh oh ! I have a hospital procedure thing coming up so had to go out yesterday in the car to get covid swabbed and pick up some potions. So got to speak to some strangers and have a couple of laughs. Have to go back to hospital at the weekend for the procedure as well so get to see even more people - hopefully people who are not swathed in covid germs Grin

Out twice in one week!

Mind you it will need to be exciting to make up for the fact that between covid test and procedure I have to self isolate at home so am stuck in my bedroom for 3 whole days all alone, with food being delivered on a tray. I'm like a pariah in my own home, but still one must look at the positives.

marriednotdead · 29/01/2021 16:16

I’ve loved reading this thread, thanks OP!

Today I visited Poundstretchers because I needed some more washing up sponges and general cleaning stuff. Not only did they have the brilliant Fairy ones with the hole in for the WU liquid but I also got some facemasks/foot packs and two new pairs of fluffy bedsocks.

Not sure what was most exciting, my purchases or being in a shop that wasn’t Sainsbury’s or Lidl.

Holothane · 29/01/2021 17:47

Co op today and I’ve treated myself to some Ben and Jerry’s I’m watching Star Wars tonight just can’t decided which one. February next week at last I can see getting closer to start saving again once the flooring in.

Sometimesonly · 29/01/2021 18:13

Next week I am going to the hairdresser's for the first time in 6 months!

sandybayley · 29/01/2021 18:32

I ordered a big box of replacement heads for all the electric toothbrushes in the house (5). I have replaced them all and feel a huge sense of pleasure.

KevinTheBird · 29/01/2021 18:38

I go to the pharmacy in the next town over once every 10 days or so to pick up some prescriptions for my neighbours. The playground there is far superior to our rubbish one and it’s an absolute highlight for dc’s.

MutteringDarkly · 30/01/2021 11:23

I've just ordered some fridge organiser boxes. I am more excited about this than my younger self would ever believe.

MutteringDarkly · 30/01/2021 11:24

Oo I forgot another thing - I've booked a waste collection to dispose of an old sideboard. Better get up early on Thursday so I don't miss it Grin

Ietthemeatcake · 31/01/2021 17:05

My most exciting thing of recent months for me was going to give blood.
Saw more people than I have in months, had lots of nice chats as my paper work was done, and as my blood was taken. You also get a bit of a lie down and a cup of tea made and choice of snacks. All very exciting.
My iron has been low recently so it also confirmed I've got it back up to a decent level, which was a bonus!

sandybayley · 31/01/2021 17:31

@Ietthemeatcake - giving blood was an excitement for me as well. Plus they discovered I have the 'Ro' factor which makes me feel very special and of potential usefulness as a blood donor in the future 😊

BigPaperBag · 31/01/2021 17:37

My carpets being laid. I woke up at 2am on the big day as I was so excited and I’ve been constantly hoovering every since, I love them. I’m now eyeing up a handrail for outside...that’s really sad 😞😂🤦‍♀️

teaandcustardcreamsx · 31/01/2021 17:42

Rather random, but somehow managed to discover the fact that Mr Tumble has an album..with a kid friendly macarena GrinGrin oh my god it’s hilarious 😂

clopper · 31/01/2021 18:30

This rubber carpet brush has arrived. We we delighted to see how much hair came out of the carpet, despite it being hoovered a few minutes before. It’s been a revelation and the highlight of the week, I can’t see anything else topping it this week.

What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?
petalpower · 31/01/2021 19:17

I’m going for my first mammogram on Tuesday and have to drive half an hour to the hospital to have it done. Feels like a real event!
I’ve also ordered a vax carpet cleaner and am planning which room to do first. Too much excitement for one week!

S0CKS · 31/01/2021 19:30

I get to go into work THREE days next week which involves wearing outdoor clothes, driving a car, seeing people AND AND AND we have a new person!!! A new person to meet!!!
Think I might leave home an hour early and drive a really long route to work AND pick up a coffee my kindle is in my handbag waiting!

lachy · 31/01/2021 20:14

I volunteered to do the tip run today (recently moved house)

I had to get petrol, so grabbed a Costa, and drove to the tip. I had to wait 5 minutes to get in during which time I drank a hot (HOT!) coffee without hearing "mummy, mummy, mummy!" or "lachy, lachy, lachy"

I was only out for about 30 minutes but I felt like I'd been to a posh Spa. I spoke to two people to say thank you, aside from which it was 30 minutes of blissful silence Smile

DenisetheMenace · 01/02/2021 22:50

lachy

I volunteered to do the tip run today (recently moved house) “
