What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

I went to our local Lidl at 8pm last week. I was the only customer in there.

It was amazing. I imagined this is what the Queen must feel like when stores are opened especially for her ... but then I imagine she's never been to a Lidl

I enjoyed it so much I'm looking forward to going again next week

Instead of buying replacement clothing, I've started complaining to companies online about the clothes I've already bought. I've already had 2 refunds, strangely thrilling Confused

We also had tree surgeons near us, wowser, that was a fun day.

What else?

I spoke to a new hot dad at the school gate. He's fit but seems a bit boring?

I used panko on chicken instead of breadcrumbs, think I prefer it

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 23/01/2021 09:28

DH just announced, like it's the most important decision he's made all week...

"I think... I will have museli for breakfast"

BloggersBlog · 23/01/2021 10:26

And? @Aroundtheworldin80moves?!! You cannot drop that bombshell and not give us the next installment! Did he enjoy it? Will he have it again? What brand?

Come on - I am living vicariously through these lockdown updates I hope you realise Grin

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 23/01/2021 10:33

Asda own brand and he added extra fruit. He seemed to enjoy it.

It's soup for lunch by the way. Vegetable. Home made. With baguette.

Today I'm clearing off the bookcase in the sitting room. I do a general tidy / dust and clear out some books to go to the charity shop (whenever it re-opens). In normal times it would take half an hour but today I will take my time, flick through some favourites etc. I reckon I can get 2 hours out of it if I try.

Got a new hoover.

LandlordLottie · 23/01/2021 13:14

I love this thread!

Literally LOLing about the epic dentist trip.

I’ve received my January copy of House & Garden which was due to arrive at the end of November. It feels like that passage in the Laura Ingalls Wilder novel where they endure the winter snowed in and then the belated Christmas box arrives.

Wishimaywishimight · 23/01/2021 13:15

I spray myself with perfume before every Teams meeting.

S0CKS · 23/01/2021 13:31

I was excited about a trip to the Post office yesterday.
I need to go drop an hermes parcel off later that involves going to a shop i don't normally go to. So exciting.

LunaL0veg00d · 23/01/2021 13:41

Smear test this morning. I wore a dress for the easy access and felt all dolled up!

S0CKS · 23/01/2021 13:51

Just realised I also need to go collect a parcel from next.
Reader its a fifteen minute drive. Fifteen minutes!!! Think I might wear some heels and a bit of slap!

HaudMaDug · 23/01/2021 13:59

New super king size mattress for my bed but after unpacking on Thursday still waiting for it to properly inflate.
My spare double bed has been unexpectedly comfortable but I cannot believe how ever managed to share a double with my 6' 5" ex.

MutteringDarkly · 23/01/2021 14:23

I'm moving furniture between different rooms, hoping it's going to be a cheap way of making all the rooms look a bit different, and combat the utter boredom of staring at the same walls Grin

Nightfeedwatcher · 23/01/2021 16:21

So much entertainment last week when it snowed watching cars trying to get up the hill (we live right at the bottom) a bit disappointing when it was gritted!

ancientgran · 23/01/2021 18:14

We had McDonalds today. I normally hate McDonalds but I couldn't face cooking another meal, normally we might have lunch out once a week and go out for dinner or have a take away once a week. Haven't had a meal out since October. DH and DGS outvoted me on McDonalds but I don't actually care. I didn't cook it!!!!!

I'm thinking having a take away delivered once a week might save my sanity, a nice curry next Saturday?

Lizsmum · 23/01/2021 18:34

I was looking forward to my solitary trip to the asymptomatic Covid test centre with a book, chocolate and a coffee to have in the car park when DH announced that he'd made his appointment for the same time. I shan't tell him next time.

LemonDrizzles · 23/01/2021 19:21

My food delivery was missing loads including all dinner items and milk today. Meant I had to go into store. Whilst there, had a quick browse for cake toppers for child's cake (didn't find any). But did pick up a numbered birthday candle. Had special beef sausages for lunch from said store.

XmasBelle · 23/01/2021 19:22

Going to the dentist 🦷

orangecinnamon · 23/01/2021 19:36

Today I used a scraper to clean my oven pans. They are almost like new again Smile

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 23/01/2021 20:50

Yesterday I had to go to the chemist to collect an emergency prescription for my elderly father. It’s only a mile and a half to the chemist but my Dad is too ill to be left alone for long, so I drove the car. It was a beautiful sunny day so I decided to drive back home with the roof down and my sunglasses on. Bliss for two minutes.

S0CKS · 23/01/2021 20:53

Well we went to McDonald's drive thru for hot chocolate and sat in a carpark and drank it it felt like we were living on the edge breaking the rules or something.

I'm going to look at cooking trays tomorrow in Wilkos don't think I'll sleep tonight in excitement.

EatingAllTheCookies · 23/01/2021 21:01

I had a stationery delivery folders, labels etc to sort the kids keepsake boxes and bundle their art work and birthday card in years and label.

And forgot I'd added an electric pencil sharpener. I spent half an hour finding all the kids pencils and sharpening them

DearTeddyRobinson · 23/01/2021 21:07

Well. My brand new Karcher window vac arrived on Thursday. And I left the house TWICE on Friday- once to go for a plod run, once to go to Sainsbury's. I realised on Friday morning that I hadn't left the house for 3 days and felt almost suffocated Confused. So basically tons of exciting stuff chez Robinson Grin

ancientgran · 23/01/2021 21:09

Is the karcher window vac any good? I was looking at the state of my windows today, very depressing and I can't get them streak free to save my life and I wondered if they are worth the money.
