Be honest... do you think being a size 10 is more attractive than a size 14?

Just that... no offence intended it's just to settle an argument I'm interested in people's views. Let's say specifically you have an average / reasonably attractive looking woman of average height, do you think she will look better as a size 10 than she does a 14?

Depends on the person. I'm very cellulitey so the bigger I get the more lumpy I get. I'm definitely happier at 10 than 14.

trixiebelden77 · 13/01/2021 20:44

Blokes view or not - it’s very unlikely that a woman who is a size ten in modern clothes is unhealthily thin.

ShinyGreenElephant · 13/01/2021 20:44

Usually, but not always. One of my close friends is size 14 and stunning- carries it really well and has a really beautiful face. I'm size 8 and she always looks better than me (and I'm not bad). She lost weight once after a bad breakup and went down to a 10/12 and it didn't suit her at all.

feistyoneyouare · 13/01/2021 20:44

Totally depends on the person's bone structure and overall look...

What I find depressing, though, is the tacit assumption by some posters on here that size 14 automatically equals fat. At size 14 I look curvy, not fat, and I think the same is true of many women.

Hellothere19999 · 13/01/2021 20:44

However someone feels happier. If you’re thin and miserable what’s the fucking point. No offence but I would say this post is a little triggering for people with ED’s. I know when I had an ED I weighed 8 stone and coz of my hips I was still a size 12 regardless, but I was still obsessed with being thin. A very depressing time of my life. I am now a happy size 14 and don’t obsess about my weight but know I sometimes need to slow down on the choccy. I am 5 ft 8 and have a big butt and boobs. I like it and so does my boyfriend.

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 13/01/2021 20:45

@ThePricklySheep Yes, even at 5'3.

SophieDahling · 13/01/2021 20:45

All other things bring equal, yes.

But things are never equal. Many other factors go into one person’s attractiveness to another.

If we’re talking purely appearance - then yes, 10 looks better than 14 because clothes are generally designed to hang better on smaller bodies.

NataliaOsipova · 13/01/2021 20:48

Yes!

joystir59 · 13/01/2021 20:48

I look thin at size 12, and I'm naturally a size 10-12 when I'm living my best life, not thinking about food, active connected and engaged. Basically I think most people look better thin. They look more vital and alive. I have a gaunt wrinkly face (63yrs old) when I'm thin but I still feel good thin.

SomewhatBored · 13/01/2021 20:48

Too many variables to say. 'Size 10' and 'Size 14' might be the same in different shops because there's no such thing as standard sizing. Size 14 at 5'2 is going to look very different from size 14 at 6'. Furthermore weight can be carried differently, people have different frames.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 13/01/2021 20:49

Putting in a vote for size 12, here. The middle ground!

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 13/01/2021 20:49

Yeah.

itssquidstella · 13/01/2021 20:50

Yes. I'm tall (5'11") and was briefly a 14 at the end of my first year at university. I looked awful, so I don't think it's true that being tall allows you to carry weight better: I wasn't morbidly obese, but I looked flabby and unfit.

Swingometer · 13/01/2021 20:50

I would say it depends on her frame and shape

At a guess about 75% of women would look better at size 10 but I can think of quite a few women who would look better at 14 due their natural build and shape

I agree that it depends on the person. I have a small frame and looked fat at a 10. I'm curvier at a 6/8 than I am at a 10.
TableFlowerss · 13/01/2021 20:51

In general yes, however there are exceptions. For example I can think of 2 celebrities that look better when they are bigger. I genuinely mean that I think they don’t suit being thinner. I won’t name them as I feel bad but ones a chef/cook and the other a singer.

chocolatepowder · 13/01/2021 20:52

Also when I was younger and a size 12 I was a sort of young and healthy 12 with firm fat rather than podgy and cellulitey. But as you get older and have loose skin from having children etc abd now a 12 looks all muffin tippy

INeedNewShoes · 13/01/2021 20:52

I'm 5ft 4 and overweight wearing modern day size 12 clothes. I look it and it's obvious I'm carrying a lot of extra fat. My frame just cannot pull off this extra weight.

I have taller friends and friends a similar height but who are physically fitter/more toned who look much healthier at size 14 than I do at my current size 12.

SionnachRua · 13/01/2021 20:52

Absolutely. Think being healthily slim is one of those things that no amount of money thrown at makeup or clothes can match.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 13/01/2021 20:52

100% would rather be a size 10 than my current size 14 as l look much younger with less fat

NotHowYouSayIt · 13/01/2021 20:53

On myself, definitely. Women carry their weight differently and a lot of women lot fabulous at size 14. Whenever I put on weight it goes straight to my belly and love handles though. It makes me look flat chested and flat arsed but when I’m a size 10 I actually look more curvy if that makes sense.

Iwonder08 · 13/01/2021 20:53

Yes and size 8 would look better than 10

pensivepigeon · 13/01/2021 20:53

Size 10 for me, I'm 5 ft 7 but I've a small frame. At this size I find my jawline and neck look much better, my stomach is flatter and I've a more defined waist. Someone with a bigger bone structure would look much different, though.

countdowntonap · 13/01/2021 20:53

Lots of studies show that men prefer females with a BMI that hovers around 20 (some even show around 19) and so based on research for a ‘general’ man, the answer would be a size 10 (or below).
However, all of the studies acknowledged that a number of men in their sample preferred women of a higher BMI, and so there isn’t a definitive answer.

mrswarthog · 13/01/2021 20:53

Yes, I'm 5'11, with a small frame and am currently nudging size 14 after being a 10-12 for years. I look matronly and older. It doesn't suit me and I'm on IF to get back to normal.
