Be honest... do you think being a size 10 is more attractive than a size 14?

Just that... no offence intended it's just to settle an argument I'm interested in people's views. Let's say specifically you have an average / reasonably attractive looking woman of average height, do you think she will look better as a size 10 than she does a 14?

Size 14, 5"8 here and I think I look good on it! When I went down to a 12 people said I looked gaunt. I have an hourglass figure and have never had any complaints. But I am tall and have big hips and big feet, so I feel I'm in proportion. Totally depends on the individual.

WiseOwlRelaxing · 13/01/2021 21:10

Yes if you are closer to 5 foot than 6 foot but no if the other way around

ApplestheHare · 13/01/2021 21:10

Yes, 10 much better. I think you'd have to be very tall to pull off a 14 in the same way.

Winter2019 · 13/01/2021 21:10

Yes

Yes

Inkpaperstars · 13/01/2021 21:11

Also I think it depends on age, some older women will look so much better facially with a bit more weight that it may offset the figure.

CarryOnFestiveNamechanging · 13/01/2021 21:11

Yes

Backtoblack1 · 13/01/2021 21:12

Yes. Sad but true. Currently trying to get back to a size 10. It’s difficult in your 40s

Thewinterofdiscontent · 13/01/2021 21:12

I think a10 in clothes.

In swimwear I often think a 14 or bigger woman looks better. They often have better skin whereas slimmer women can ge a bit veiny and all the odd bumps stick out.

Either way women that stay at one for most of their lives tend to look the best. Size 10 or 14 .

@IcedPurple

Unless your name is Nigella Lawson, then probably yes.

I used to be a size 8, and now, being in my 50s, I'm quite a bit bigger. I definitely looked better at a size 8.

That’s exactly who I was thinking
Figgyboa · 13/01/2021 21:13

100% yes

OP, the short answer is yes.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 13/01/2021 21:16

How many people have said that size is fat so far?

I'm not playing this game - everyone knows the accepted wisdom that thinner is better and anybody who disagrees will be seen by, at the very least, the size 10 is fat crowd, as apologists for obesity.

KizzyKat91 · 13/01/2021 21:16

Average female height in the uk is 5’5 apparently. I think someone 5’5 would definitely look better as a 10 and probably looks slightly overweight as a 14. I’m 5’10 however, and when I was skinny enough to fit in a 10, I lost my boobs and regularly got comments about looking ill or being too thin. I’m a 14 now and feel I look “ok”, but I think I look my best and feel happiest as a 12.

shrill · 13/01/2021 21:16

Some yes, some no. Size 12 usually best imo

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2021 21:16

Yes. Sorry.

It might be difficult for some women in their 40s. But I very much doubt that it's all to do with age. I suspect at least some of it is to do with eating too much and not exercising enough.

I'm 50, btw.

Dangermouse80 · 13/01/2021 21:17

Totally depends on body shape. Look a bit drawn / flat at a ten / overweight at a 14. Size 12 is my happy all round shape.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/01/2021 21:18

Yes, most of the time.
Of course, as others have said it depends on your height and how you carry your weight. My face gets chubby very easily, for example. Someone who's face remains thin as a size 14 and whose fat is distributed in an hour glass kind of way would look great as a size 14.

Interesting. I think chubby people can look better naked, but in swimwear or underwear it's harder as the lines of the skimpy, tight clothes can create the impression of bulging if you see what I mean.
harknesswitch · 13/01/2021 21:21

Yes. I've been both and being a size 10 looks so much better on me. I'm 5'3" so a 14 makes me look very big. At a 10 I'm petite and I feel in proportion to my height.

I bet if you were 6' and a size 10 you'd look too skinny

AWeeBit · 13/01/2021 21:21

That's like asking how long is a piece of string.

For me, at 5'9, I look better in the face at size 10 (I prefer a sharp jawline for myself) but my tits deflate something awful and I do look a bit emaciated. I am tall and large framed with wide shoulders and big hands, etc. I'm generally bigger than the average woman. At size 14 my body is comfortably padded but not too fat and my boobs look nice. So I stay a bit fatter because I'd rather bigger boobs.

notalwaysalondoner · 13/01/2021 21:22

Yes, almost always.

It would be different if you asked size 4 vs size 14 I’d probably say size 14 was more attractive, particularly over the age of 30. But size 10 is a healthy weight, it’s not underweight in any way shape or form. And it almost always looks better.

Jemenfouscompletement · 13/01/2021 21:22

Yes! And just because you are in your 40s and 50s it isn't impossible. Exercise and eating less works for me.
When I take my dog to the vets and the vet can't feel his ribs I'm told he needs to go on a diet. Doctors should have the same policy with their patients.
