Be honest... do you think being a size 10 is more attractive than a size 14?

Just that... no offence intended it's just to settle an argument I'm interested in people's views. Let's say specifically you have an average / reasonably attractive looking woman of average height, do you think she will look better as a size 10 than she does a 14?

Why do we have to chose between two women busting out of their bikinis?

I’d also much rather look like myself. Thanks for reminding me of that!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 18/01/2021 17:44

Nope. Been underweight, been overweight. I look back at photos and I know I was happier being overweight. Maybe an extreme example but no I don't think a size determine how attractive someone is / looks

FuriousWithTheNHS · 18/01/2021 17:55

Yes. Obviously there will be some size 14 women who have more pleasing proportions and body shape and are more attractive generally than some size 10 women, but if you were to take the same woman with the same proportions and compare her at both sizes there are very few people who would genuinely think she looks better at size 14 than a 10.

SuperbGorgonzola · 18/01/2021 17:58

I personally am a size 14 at the moment and I'm sure I'd look better as a 10.

gooseygooseywanderingfree · 18/01/2021 18:12

I most definitely look better as a size 10 than at a 14. When I'm size 14 I'm clearly chubby and overweight and it shows everywhere so face, arms, belly etc.
I'm currently a 10 and am still wobbly so it I could be bothered to tone up I'd look fab. But I can't so there you go! But I still look way better now than I did two year ago when I was two stone heavier and two dress sizes bigger.

gooseygooseywanderingfree · 18/01/2021 18:14

@TiredUselessHopeless what the hell has the woman on the left done to her face? Shock

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 19/01/2021 02:02

I think they both look ok in the pictures , different shapes , different look.
Lets face it we don't all like the same men and women

ImBoredAgain · 19/01/2021 02:07

14 is large.

I’ve been as big as a 16 and now an absolutely enormous 14 (although pregnant I’m still fat too) and have only ever felt comfortable as an 8/10 else clothes just look unattractive and I can’t go on holidays.

Each to their own but I can’t see how anyone can be comfortable that big, especially as someone who has been/ currently being that size

Chunkymenrock · 19/01/2021 02:09

No I don't. Some curves on a woman are lovely.

TheOneLeggedJockey · 19/01/2021 05:21

Indeed they are. But even size 6 and 8 women are often curvy.

Unless you’re using ‘curvy’ as a euphemism for something else...

lovescaca · 19/01/2021 05:41

Depends on height x

PurpleDaisies · 19/01/2021 08:28

@Chunkymenrock

No I don't. Some curves on a woman are lovely.
Im am 8. I have curves.

Curves can depend on body shape, not weight. When I’m bigger, I get curves under my chin and outwards on my stomach. I’m not such a fan of those.

Franticbutterfly · 19/01/2021 08:41

I do, but if you asked my husband the same question he would say definitely not (his idea of sexy is Kelly Brooke when she's heavier).

acatcalledjohn · 19/01/2021 08:47

@TiredUselessHopeless

So who would you rather look like? Both attractive women I’d say!

At best they are a US 10 & 14, so a UK 6 & 10.

The woman on the right looks better. A healthy size for her frame, and no lip fillers.

acatcalledjohn · 19/01/2021 08:49

I think I've got the sizing the wrong way around?

It's too early. Still, the woman on the right looks better.

Coffee!

ginandwineandbaileys · 19/01/2021 08:55

If you judge only their bodies, the woman on the left looks better, the woman on the right looks overweight.

Labobo · 19/01/2021 08:58

@TheOneLeggedJockey

After a certain age a size ten always looks ageing.

A size 10?! There really is a load of absolute tut being posted on this thread.

Once upon a time, before processed food, pretty much everyone would’ve been a size 10.

A size 10 is normal (and I say this as a tall person) - neither overweight nor underweight.

If a size 10 looks ‘ageing’ then that’s probably because the person to whom the face belongs is, actually, ageing.

Equally, a size 14 looks ‘ageing’ - at least on me. Nothing ‘youthful’ about frumpy, jowly bloat.

Totally agree with this. Like the myth that after fifty you have to choose between your figure or your face. I was two stone overweight last year. My face was jowly and bloated and my neck was so thick I thought I had underactive thyroid. Lost half the weight and I look way younger - everyone says so and photos prove it. Size 10 is a good size for women of average height. 14 isn't.
oreo2020 · 19/01/2021 08:59

I am 5'7. When was size 14 and cycled a lot I was absolutely gorgeous and had a streak of men after me Smile never been size 10 but suspect that would be quite skinny for me. 12 maybe be the best. Now I am flabby 16.

orchidsonabudget · 19/01/2021 09:05

I think a size 12 is better
I look better as a 12
Alas I am currently pushing a 16

Indoctro · 19/01/2021 09:13

Of course you would look better.

No one looks better overweight

PurpleDaisies · 19/01/2021 09:17

Size 14 isn’t automatically overweight @Indoctro. I could put two and a half stone on and still be a healthy BMI. I’m pretty sure would take me to a 14. It’s a big range.

Onedropbeat · 19/01/2021 09:39

That’s true
I’m an exaggerated pear and a 14 on the bottom half but not overweight

I’d prefer to be a 12 again but think I’d need a tuck to do it

SnickersnotMArs · 19/01/2021 09:47

With weight as well as height being a factor. I think what people class is big is where we all have different opinions. To pile on 2 and a half stone is a lot. You must be tiny to pull that off when I say tiny I mean around 7 stone 6.

I never gained that much even in pregnancy 2 and half stone Shock

I think if your 5ft 4 and under there’s no way you can pull a size 14 off as slim. I say this as someone is bottom heavy.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 19/01/2021 11:19

I think the issue here is whether people are considering 'overweight' an unhealthy BMI or someone who does not look slim in their eyes. I would consider myself overweight as soon as I was no longer slim. Before dropping a stone or so, I was still a size 10 but I was definitely overweight in my opinion.

sofiaaaaaa · 19/01/2021 17:53

That comparison photo someone posted earlier is a weird! The girl on the left is 17/18 so is barely an adult (in reference to the person saying she has a “child’s body”) and is she is clearly around a size 6 rather than size 10.
