When did your late walker walk

Hi,

DD is in no hurry to walk, shes 15months and is still in no hurry to walk independently. She'll walk holding my finger and on the sofa, she can stand up and dance unaided. But she will only sometimes take a step and then fall over.

Just wondered when other late walkers started walking? DS was walking before his first birthday so I assumed she would be the same

17 months she just got up and walked like she'd always been doing it. It was 15 months before she would even put her feet on the floor (while being held/in a Walker etc) before that she'd just curl her ledge up so her feet didn't touch the floor.

Dd1 was walking at 10 months so like you it was a surprise

18 months, never crawled, some bum shuffling. 15 now, straight A’s and captain of the hockey team. Still wouldn’t walk the length of herself if she didn’t have to though

My two were 15 months and 18 months for 1st solo steps. Then there was no stopping them.

17 months.....didn't crawl till 12 months......now an excellent dancer and cheerleader!

17 months.
She's now 19 and can walk perfectly well

16 months. Crawled from 8 months. Walked holding our hands for months before walking independently.

My DS (3) didn't walk without holding on until he was 21 months.
He now walks very long distances (for a 3 year old) on our daily family walks.
He's not very physical tho, takes him a long time to be confident about things like new play equipment.
DD walked before she was 1.

She was an expert crawler though, probably why she felt no need to walk, she didn't pull herself up on the furniture until she was 13 months either.

All three of ours didn't walk independently until 18m - they put all their energy into talking non-stop instead!

Mine didn't crawl until 11 months and then took first steps sometime around 15/16 months. She commando walked for about a week first

23 months. Age 6 now and she still does some physio to improve her balance and core strength. She still isn’t confident on stairs but she’ll get there.

17 and 18 months

Around 17/18 months for 4 children ....

22 months. He'd been referred and we were told it was a tendon in his leg that was giving him talipes. He was a bit wonky till he was about 4.

2.5. She couldn't sit up unaided either till then either. Had Drs baffled. Turns out she was a lazy cow as I fought her walking and she fell down and pretended she couldn't. She is still a lazy mare at 21

18m exactly, but then one day he stood up and walked perfectly off down the path in the park and he walked steadily and consistently from then on.... so he caught up with all the other toddlers.

22 months. Pulled up at 15 months and took a long time to crawl properly as opposed to pulling himself along by his arms.

He still lacks in core strength, but pre covid was enrolled in baby ballet (as I did dance for years and it really strengthened my core) and he's signed up for swimming got when he's 3, if we ever see the back of covid.
Like pps, although he can walk a long way, he's not particularly keen for things like climbing equipment and playgrounds and is unconfident at these things.
There was talk of hyoermobility, but now he's walking, it's not being pushed, which is fine with me.

Both of mine were late. Crawled around 12 months, walking by about 18 months.

There is a point probably around where you are now when it gets annoying, because they want to walk, but can't quite work it out yet. Mine were also heavy and I got fed up of carrying and lifting them too!

We’ve had a sudden surge recently, 16 months this week. We’re getting 4-5 steps now and wanting to walk holding my finger all day. I think any day now we’ll be off!
She’s a perfectionist-was the same with crawling too, wouldn’t do it until she was perfect at it and she really really thinks about it first. Nursery say she’s refusing to do it if watched, they’ve been trying to do an observation for ages but if she notices the camera she won’t do it

20 months, others all at around 12 months. Just liked being carried etc
No ongoing issues

22 months due to excellent bum shuffling skills. Fluent talker though from early on. Slightly hypermobile in joints, with flat feet but does triathlon so fine!

18 months, was subsequently diagnosed with dyspraxia.
