When did your late walker walk

Hi,

DD is in no hurry to walk, shes 15months and is still in no hurry to walk independently. She'll walk holding my finger and on the sofa, she can stand up and dance unaided. But she will only sometimes take a step and then fall over.

Just wondered when other late walkers started walking? DS was walking before his first birthday so I assumed she would be the same

18m,just as I was getting worried - seems ridiculous now. I did red that the "large placid" baby tends to walk later than the "small wiry" baby, and I definitely had a large placid baby!

Both of mine didn't even stand till 20 months, and then at 22 months, suddenly got up and walked confidently off as if they could do it all along. No cruising, no waddling, just went from not walking to walking.

DS did it on a busy sunny day on the South Bank, and I nearly lost the little bugger in the crowd. Shock

18 months here. I remember taking her to see her consultant (for something else) and asked her. She popped her on the floor outside her office and watched her crawl off at super speed and said “she won’t walk when she can go fast by crawling” Grin

Dd1 was 18 months and ds1 was 20 months. There is 15 months between them so I had about 3 months overlap where neither was walking, that was hard going!

16mo, just stood up and walked perfectly, no wobbles or toddling. Didn't crawl first, and never pulled up to standing Confused

My DS didn't crawl until after his 1st birthday and took first steps when he was 16 months old. I was 18 months old when I started walking.

My mum said I walked quite late because I was too busy talking from the moment my eyes opened in the morning. I’m still lazy and could talk your ear right off Grin

My brother talked late but walked early.

15 months, but ordered her older brother to fetch toys for her so why bother?

Sent on to do cross country running and later expeditions for gold Duke of Ed.

20 months here, my DD was also a super speedy bottom shuffler! Wasn't even standing or moving in her first birthday. 12 now, no problems.

19 months, she has low muscle tone so it's assumed that's the reason. None of my other dc were early walkers either, they ranged from 14 to 16 months, and only one of the 4 crawled.

Both of mine were considered fairly late both started walking about a week before they were 16 months. About 3 or 4 in my antenatal group didn’t start walking until 20/21 months. Once they were going you’d never know the difference between them and the ones who were walking at 10 months.

My niece wasn’t walking or weight bearing when she was 2 and my sister was told she had hyper mobile ankles and needed some support boots and once she had them she was walking pretty quickly.

My DD was an early Walker, which imo is a nightmare! Haha keep em still as long as you can!
But my mum said I didnt walk until about 17 months. She blamed it 100% on laziness as I used to just point at things and my older sister would run and get it for me Haha.

DS1 was 16m.
Crawled at 9m
Pulled up to standing at 10m (then looked at me and cried because he didn't know what to do next)
Cruised at 12m. Could also climb. Plus crawling like a rocket.
I spent 4 months waiting for him to just walk because he looked so ready... he would not do it without holding something, so I bought a £5 flimsy dolly buggy, and he held onto that, but it actually didn't give any support. 3 days later he took 16 steps across the room at toddler group Grin

He was neither a walker nor a talker, and aquired diagnoses of ASD and dyspraxia at about 8. I think it was more the ASD affecting confidence than anything and it's been a consistent trait for everything. Later than average to walk was not a concern in itself..

DS2 took his first steps at 14m. Crawled from the edge of the pool to DS1 on the bench, pulled up to standing, gave me an evil grin and took teetering first steps to hurl himself into the swimming pool. Grin
He hasn't changed either Wink

First steps at 16 months, never crawled. Now 4, can't keep the child still :D

DS1 was 19 months, he just stood up one day and took off. He even gave a little evil laugh as if he had been keeping it a secret all along.
He's 7 now, still very lazy, hates walking anywhere and not into sport at all.

Mine was a mega-fast crawler. He took two steps unaided one day at just before 13 months, decided it was too much hassle and went back to crawling until just beyond 15 months. Once he started, though, there was no stopping him.

16 months.'I was starting to panic but when he did he was confident immediately, like wasn't wobbly for a while like my early Walker was.
