I've never eaten beetroot, cauliflower or pickled eggs.

What everyday food have you never eaten ?

OP posts:
NeonSparkle · 10/01/2021 23:46

I’ve never tried:
any type of offal, oysters, mussels any fish apart from cod, small prawns or tinned tuna.

Frolicinameadow · 10/01/2021 23:54

Fish - any type, it makes me so sick just smelling it
Offal
Pickled eggs
Scotch eggs
Sushi
Black pudding
Haggis
Snails,
frog legs
I hate even looking at those sliced processed deli meats like the ones with the faces? Wtf are they made of??
Red wine
Smelly cheese
Duck
Lamb
Olives
Artichoke

minipie · 10/01/2021 23:54

Atrixie Gammon is just uncooked ham so if you’ve had ham you’ve had gammon.

It’s taken me till this year to realise that!

Persianparadise · 10/01/2021 23:54

Eggs,

JerichosPenisInADeadChickHat · 10/01/2021 23:54

"I'm not convinced pickled egg is a normal food!"

Course it is - anything sold in a chippy is normal surely?

AlwaysLatte · 10/01/2021 23:55

I was just thinking that I have eaten everything on this list until I came to durian. I don't know what that is. And then eyes, brains, etc 🤢
I also haven't had meat pies with parsley sauce that some people love although I've had them both separately. They just don't appeal to me together!

SophieDahling · 10/01/2021 23:55

I have never drunk coffee. Ever.

RosesAndHellebores · 10/01/2021 23:57

Even mushy peas @JerichosPenisInADeadChickHat. I think not Grin

AlwaysLatte · 10/01/2021 23:58

Pickled eggs are amazing, a little pub near us serves home pickled ones in a bag of kettle chips (or did 😥)Love them!

Pugliandreamer · 11/01/2021 00:18

Oh god, I adore pickled eggs. And sea food!

I'm wracking my brains for something normal I haven't eaten but I generally eat anything and everything. I'm not a fan of offal, but I have tried most of it in different forms. I don't think I've ever had liver and onions (as a traditional combined dish!)

To the pp who had never tried celeriac...my god you are missing out! Go to France and have a celeriac remoulade. You won't look back!

Blessex · 11/01/2021 00:26

Octopus. And I watched that Netflix show about the octopus recently and so happy I haven’t eaten one. Just the look of them put me off. And the show showed how clever and perceptive they are.

Rose789 · 11/01/2021 01:51

Kidney, liver, tripe etc absolutely not
Donner kebab.
Blue cheese
Pate
Also never had a pot noodle - but that’s a hangover from student days and only eating 9 pence super noodles

Babyroobs · 11/01/2021 01:51

Mussells, Oysters, Kebab.

howaboutme · 11/01/2021 01:55

Egg and cress sandwiches

purpleproses · 11/01/2021 03:37

I've never been in a Wetherspoons or five guys but I'm told they do good food so none of that.

grey12 · 11/01/2021 03:49

@PippinsOfPogleWood nutella??!!! Better not start Grin

SnappedAndFartedInMaui · 11/01/2021 04:07

Pickled eggs (hate the thought)
Fishpaste (ditto)
Egg Mayo (makes me think of sick)

SnappedAndFartedInMaui · 11/01/2021 04:09

Yup. Like battered mars bars. I love them. Even better, battered snickers
Ginfordinner · 11/01/2021 06:38

@AfterSchoolWorry

Black pudding tastes like metal, sushi is every bit as bad as you could imagine raw fish and seaweed to taste.

Both vile.

Sushi is rice. Sometimes sushi pieces have raw fish and more often than not they don't.

Sashimi is raw fish.

ivykaty44 · 11/01/2021 06:44

squarepinks I wouldn’t have considered oysters “ normal” food

They aren’t on a typical average weekly menu at home 😅

You don’t strictly eat them either, you just swallow

Those crispy cream donuts I’ve seen in the supermarket but not had one, it’s the covering that isn’t enticing to me

Ifailed · 11/01/2021 06:55

Depends on what culture you are from/living in. I've never eaten dog meat, but it's popular in some places, likewise guinea pigs, squirrel and snake. I have eaten horse meat, which was very tasty.

ShowOfHands · 11/01/2021 08:02

Reading through this, there are lots of others I haven't had. Never been in a Nandos, Greggs, kebab shop. Never heard of Five Guys. No to Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Things like snake, octopus, eyes and brains are not normal food stuffs.

Bluesheep8 · 11/01/2021 09:55

Nutella
Krispy Kreme donut
Anything from Greggs
Nandos
Wagamama

timtam23 · 11/01/2021 10:14

Egg mayonnaise
Seafood
Fish paste
Mushy peas
Potato waffles

LeaveMyDamnJam · 11/01/2021 10:18

To the cauliflower haters. The bbc have a recipe for bang bang cauliflower which is wonderful. If you use it, use oat cream not milk, the panko breadcrumbs stick much better than. I serve it with garlic and chilli courgetti.

I’ve not eaten loads of things as I’ve been vegan most of my life.
