Do you have any secrets that could ruin someone's life?

Just something I've been thinking about. A few years ago in my mid 20s I was friends with a much older man at work, who I saw as a fatherly /grandfather figure. I was going through a rough time with my mental health, plus bereavements and I had no friends or family support. He was there for me and I used him as a confidant and shoulder to cry on, so to speak.

I was naive and really did think saw me in a similar way - like a daughter or niece or something. I was also emotionally all over the place so I didn't see the signs, which looking back were there. One day in his car he held me against the seat and kissed me on my mouth, and put his hands up my thigh, and up the back of my top. I was so stunned and tried to move back but he wouldn't let me move and kept moving my head back. Fortunately it didn't go any further than that. He then told me he was in love with me and never felt like that about anyone.

I didn't tell anyone because I think people would have thought I led him on as I put myself in that situation. I never met him alone again, and he turned quite nasty towards me as well as tried to manipulate me. He has a wife who obviously hasn't a clue. It would bring her world crashing down if she knew and I'm sure if she did, she would blame me as I know she was besotted with him. It will be a secret I take to the grave as I'm so ashamed about it and how dumb I have been.

Someone from a well known emo band drugged my friend they visited our home city for a gig, we were both 16 and they tried all sorts on, left me to take her to hospital she was really ill etc said that he tried to rape her and was very mentally scarred by it all.

So was the crazy Twitter wife and the fertile blonde the same person? Is their marriage in trouble? Quite surprised at that

goldielockdown2 · 11/01/2021 08:16

The 'fertile twitter blond' rumour is clearly just vindictive gossip lol. We all know you can't just 'keep getting pregnant' all by yourself and anyway, it doesn't make men stick around if they don't want to.

Yes, a couple. One of them is work related and concerns a friend of mine. It would be considered gross misconduct if management found out and he'd probably lose his job.

The other is that the husband of a colleague is on Tinder. They have two little girls. I posted on here for advice when I saw him on there but ultimately decided to keep quiet.

@BettyAndVeronica

I knew someone who was gay and married. In the public eye. He was / is married. Was persistently messaging a young man (19yo) who had worked with him briefly. Wasn't shy about it at all!! Young man began to feel harassed and v uncomfortable.

He came out publicly last year. Lots of praise for him, people wishing him well etc. Tabloids loved it.
All I could think was, you're a predator lunging for teenagers decades younger than you.

No prizes for guessing who that is. I thought his coming out was really weird, almost like he’d been forced to do it. There were so many negative stories about him in the press on the run up to it, allegations of bullying etc and the big rumour online was that he’d been having an affair with a much younger man who worked on the show as a runner for a while. The relationship ended and the young man was moved to work on another show.

There are also loads of screenshots out there of Snapchat’s he sent to random young men late at night. He’s definitely a predator who was caught out IMO.

Heard the rumours about the ex footballer now presenter for years. It’s quite well known I think?

Nocaloriesinchocolate · 11/01/2021 10:57

Yes and no. I was once told a fairly earth shattering secret by someone famous in his sphere when he'd drunk too much. He's dead now but I can't remember all the details frustratingly

Ferrylights · 11/01/2021 11:40

@imAncient depends if It's the same one...many of them seem to have been at it

SinisterBumFacedCat · 13/01/2021 12:51

Yes, I found something in my stepfathers diaries that would make my mum see him in a different light, but he has passed away so there is no point in ruining her memories of him.

Clearing up after a male relative has died or moved into a care home is fraught with this.

SendHelp30 · 15/01/2021 21:39

@Ferrylights JR or PJ?

Ferrylights · 16/01/2021 09:39

@SendHelp30 no but I can't initial him as It's quite outing :-) Maybe those two were as well, seems endemic in the sport

@LivingInAPrettyWorld
You have nothing to feel ashamed about, he sounds a Fucking Creepy Bastard.

I must lead a very boring life, I can't think of any secrets that would ruin anyone's life.
