Ooh frownette, whereabouts are you then?

Champagneforeveryone · 24/01/2021 16:42

Today I have washed the dog beds. We refrained initially as they still smelt of DDog1 and we felt it would be better to leave it for a few days.

DDog 2 1 has now been allowed to sleep on a blanket on the sofa with DDog 3 2 (against my better judgment). We've also put the big bed under the stairs and put the cage in the loft. Whether this is a good idea remains to be seen.

Frownette · 24/01/2021 17:27

@Champers not that far from you ;)

@HelenaJustina I have a poetic vision of you walking through the snow in a beautiful long wool coat like the French Lieutenants woman arriving at an old church :)

It's not dull nor unexciting here, court again tomorrow as trying frantically to keep someone out of prison which means my uni work will be scuppered. The police don't have the full facts and have breached protocol.

Frownette · 24/01/2021 17:28

Big complaint looming.

Nydj · 24/01/2021 17:30

Sorry for causing snow envy! It rarely settles here so I got a bit excited. And if it’s any comfort, lot of it has already melted.

In more dull news, I just had a nap.

soddingkitten · 24/01/2021 17:31

I have duck legs roasting in the oven for duck pancakes later. After fighting with the whole duck and territorial grumbles about fair shares, I’ve outsourced the work of stripping the duck meat to each person and killed the fair share row at source. 🙌

Sunbird24 · 24/01/2021 17:31

Most of my snow has melted too, it’ll just be ice now

soddingkitten · 24/01/2021 17:33

My fighting reference was about the aggro of stripping the carcass, in case anyone thinks we had a comedy 4 way tussle with each party pulling on a limb. 😄

Silkiechickscat · 24/01/2021 17:34

The chicken perch is now in the chicken run and the silkies are now in their coop snoozing.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/01/2021 17:34

I have selected the fotos for DS's fotobook (his 1st 18 years Smile), only the older he got the less fotos I have, as he refused to be in them.

EggyPegg · 24/01/2021 18:29

We had snow this morning too, but it started to melt around 10am.

Tensions have reached a peak in Eggy Towers this weekend too. Like Helena back chat (from a 7 and 9 year old) had reached an unacceptable level, so ADHD or no ADHD, DH and I came down on them like a ton of bricks yesterday. I ended up leaving DS2 at home with DH yesterday and just taking an unusually compliant DS1 out for a walk in the woods.

Today I had planned to take them sledging before the snow melted, but thanks to DS1s horrendous attitude, I told him that he couldn't come. Then DS1 and DS2 had a snowball fight. DS2 got snow in his eye. I was sympathetic but explained that it was a natural consequence of having a snowball fight, turned to go to the shed to get his sledge... And he threw a snowball at my back in temper. So I downed tools and went inside, to be met immediately by DH in a towering rage about a bag of books I'd left in the upstairs hallway that he wanted moved immediately.

I locked myself in our bedroom with a cup of tea, finished my book and let the three of them get on with it.

@soddingkitten, your outsourcing sounds like a stroke of genius.

Silkiechickscat · 24/01/2021 18:51

Sorry you are having a grumpy boys day there Eggy I remember collecting DS at primary one day, DS had been upset and his maths teacher (suspect also ASD) who always thought pinning DS up against a wall was the best way to calm him down Hmm was also upset and I had to calm DS down then DS' teacher down and I remember walking out saying to the headmaster if DH is also having a tantrum I am completely out of patience to deal with male tantrums so he won't get much sympathy. Grin

I said to DH after his tap maybe we should have a hot chocolate then a minute later I saw DS standing there mute with a container in his hands that looked like from the silkies. I thought no not something wrong with a silkie again and I said DS do you need help with anything? DS said no I just want hot chocolate and I heard you say the words. Grin So he's just like the cat getting first in the queue for food / drink other than he's silent and the cat howl to let you know she needs to be served first. She told DH off when he sat down with his roast dinner as he had chicken and she didn't, that was soon corrected.

Silkiechickscat · 24/01/2021 18:52

tap = nap

soddingkitten · 24/01/2021 19:02

The duck legs were a master stroke. Perfect amount of duck meat for each person, everyone was able to go at their own speed and none of us were furious with DS1 for holding us up while he finished streaming and rocking up 10 minutes late. Hmm We have hit on a row-free formula. Smile

EggyPegg · 24/01/2021 19:20

Thanks Silkie. I plan to hibernate in my room at the earliest opportunity this evening.

How could you not feed SilkieCat first? Error on your part there. Also, I clearly spend too much time on this thread as my phone automatically capitalised SilkieCats name Grin

EggyPegg · 24/01/2021 19:25

However, one thing that has kept me laughing today was this, posted by a friend of mine. She posted it on Instagram originally but has just told me she'd put it on her YT channel too.

So I am very happy to be able to share it with you all.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/01/2021 19:29

Grin DD just yesterday told me about t-rex races!

Nydj · 24/01/2021 20:39

Oh Eggy that is pants! I’m glad you decided to take time to look after yourself rather than get sucked into everyone else’s behaviour.

I forget to say earlier - gorgeous photos @sproutsandparsnips!

This thread seems to be full of very fit people - I have started c25k a few times and always stopped before reaching the 5k target and my exercise levels have plummeted from an already low starting point. No one to blame but myself.

Squirrel26 · 24/01/2021 21:12

No snow here. I’m not sad about this. I hate snow unless there’s potential for skiing on it. Even then, I’d rather it didn’t snow on me.

Have to take the washing out of the washing machine, start the dishwasher, take the dog out, then do my Covid test. I put clean sheets on the bed earlier, so that’s exciting.

MissConductUS · 24/01/2021 21:37

My sympathies to all who are dealing with cranky men and children. I have often thought about how hard this has to be with kids stuck at home.

The man chez Conduct are peacefully watching the football playoffs for the Super Bowl. They'll probably start grilling in an hour or so.

Cute video Eggy and Silkiecat is very happy to know she is capitalised.

I am helping with the balance of fit to unfit people Nydg I so wish I could go swimming though.

We've just had chicken korma, rice and naman bread using the rest of the chicken, well apart from the rest destined for Silkiecat and her renal diet plus other food diet.

I told DS his tutor time is at 8.30am. I will be logging on for him. It is the most useless session ever, last 30 minutes and it goes Hi, Hi, Hi, Did anyone do anything this weekend? No, No, No. Does anyone have any news about pets? Someone will say yes a fish died, everyone else no. Then the call continues in silence. Hmm I suspect lots of kids log on and mute the call. I told DS when the tutor had suggested what to do for Friday session I suggested sleep and got the most votes. DS said yay I'm popular, how many votes did I get? 2 I said Grin There were only 3 votes cast hence suspecting most are on mute.

Then I said in French the teacher always asks what people have done at the weekend and I put dormir for you but I need to look up what hibernate is in French. DS was very happy with when I found it and said he's going to use that phrase in every French lesson ever now going forward. Sorry French teacher. Blush

EggyPegg · 24/01/2021 22:49

Well, at least he's learning new vocabulary eh @Silkiechickscat?

Nomnomarrgh · 24/01/2021 22:59

Had fun out in the snow today. Pushed a car that had got stuck and told a woman to go away who was trying to lie tell me the buses were cancelled.

Silkiechickscat · 24/01/2021 23:12

Yes he certainly learnt I hibernated and said it about 50 times trying to perfect the pronuciation.
