Good evening lovely people of the thread.

Eggy, your hair looks great. I love the colour. That's a much more manageable length.

@sproutsandparsnips - Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing!

DH put together the stationary bike for me. It works perfectly, except that the little screen that shows your speed, time, distance, etc. displays nothing but zeros. I've emailed the company and just praying that I don't have to return the whole thing as we'll never get it all back in the box. I bought it on Amazon as they're so good with returns.

The navy blue blazer we ordered DS last weekend from Lands End came today. It fits perfectly and looks great on him. At 50% off it was a steal too. It came to $83. And this one really is washable. He's gotten the first pay transfer from his internship so DH is talking to him about setting up a tax-advantaged retirement account (called a Roth IRA) and what his investment options are.

We had burgers for dinner. DH defrosted chicken for DD, out of force of habit. I'll have it tomorrow. The men are planning on having teriyaki skirt steak.

Not much else is new here. It's supposed to get down to -9 here overnight. I'm still adjusting to not having DD in the house, as is DH obviously.

Very tranquil photos, @sproutsandparsnips!

MissConductUS was the old one unsalvageable? Did it dry funny? We have root beer at our local supermarket, I'm happy :)

Eggy I get into a flap with scanning the code at the supermarket with scanning the QR but they have me hook, line and sinker so I persevere in my own useless way with tongue out the side of the way in clumsy concentration. I have to remember to switch my phone data from house WiFi to my phone network before I set off. It's worth it, promise! 15% off vegan stuff this month if you activate the coupon

Frownette · 24/01/2021 03:14

Oops. Like scanning was so good I said it twice.

Silkiechickscat · 24/01/2021 06:34

Lovely heron Sprouts

Been clearing out lots of old e-mails, I have so many of them.

For some reason I googled the name of a boy who used to be in my class at school. At first I found a religious person with 8 kids, he was very religious so seemed possible but looked different so kept searching and I found he committed suicide in 2004. Sad

DD started this the other day googling someone else I was at school with. He was in Russia and married with 3 kids.

Apparently snowing outside (raining here but snowing everywhere else)

There is a worrying lack of staff to let us go home Hmm

Frownette · 24/01/2021 06:48

champers I didn't realise you did shift work, what time are you supposed to finish? Off to check the met office figures, doubt we have snow here

Silkiechickscat · 24/01/2021 06:53

We have heavy snow predicted here. I'd send yourself home if there's lots of snow. We have none yet.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/01/2021 07:37

There is a reason why hairdressers have to learn for three years.
I did cut DH's hair, luckily he is mostly on zoom!

soddingkitten · 24/01/2021 07:43

Light dusting of snow here, which is a surprise as we were forecast about two hours of sleet last time I checked. This suggests there will have been heavier snow than forecast in outlying areas and on the hills. I hope my sister isn’t snowed in.

I opened Sodding’s cat flap to give him a chance to get out and explore before it melts. I also let him in to the rest of the house so he can come and tell us about it. He’s outside DS1’s door campaigning to be let in instead. I don’t know why I’m even surprised about this.

Silkiechickscat · 24/01/2021 07:54

We have a light dusting of snow on the thatched roof and a beautiful red sky.

Spudlet · 24/01/2021 07:55

Solar system update - Saturn fell out of orbit overnight. Fortunately it didn’t actually hit anyone, but it did mean I was woken this morning by a ballistic DS (in terms of velocity at least) insisting that I sort it out, this minute, immediately, now please Mummy.

I also have a zit on my forehead that is really sore, right up by my hairline. Annoying.

TenCornMaidens · 24/01/2021 07:59

@spudlet I have a massive spot right on my hip Confused??? So weird. What a weird place to get a spot. Painful to lie on in the night as well.

Reorganised much of my desk yesterday and it feels so much better. Lots of shelves and drawers left to do but it was good to make a start.

My dd also reorganised her room yesterday and is delighted.

Frownette · 24/01/2021 07:59

I've got one too @Spudlet.

No snow here only rain.

Right, time for breakfast

Frownette · 24/01/2021 08:04

Oh we do have snow, just looked out of the window.

Doubt it will set though.

Spudlet · 24/01/2021 08:04

Hmmm, might be stress-related - it’s not like anyone is having a lovely relaxing life at the moment, I’d have thought. I got an email saying something like ‘As we all have extra time on our hands in lockdown...’ and laugh? I nearly started 😬

Hip spots do sound most annoying, @TenCornMaidens - have you got anything you can put on it? I’m dabbing tea tree oil onto my zinger, I seem to recall using toothpaste on the buggers when I was an extremely spotty teen too. The best thing I ever had was Clinique spot gel, but mine ran out last year and I don’t even know if they still make it now tbh.

Champagneforeveryone · 24/01/2021 08:06

Unfortunately there's no way we can go until our opposing number (or another kindly member of the next team) take over. Not at all. Ever.

Though fortunately some did make it in and I am free Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/01/2021 08:06

Sleet - I think - is the English word for our weather.

soddingkitten · 24/01/2021 08:29

Prok - it’s the half way point between snow and rain. When it hits the car windscreen it is a wet flake but quickly melts. It doesn’t settle.

My sister has had a lot of snow. She did a big food shop yesterday so won’t need to venture out, thank goodness.

Sodding still hasn’t gone out. He’s spent the last hour bouncing all over our bed, nipping our toes and watching the street from our windowsill.

Spudlet · 24/01/2021 08:36

Sleet is my least favourite weather after high winds - I wish it would just make up its mind to rain or snow. Not both!

Frownette · 24/01/2021 08:47

@Champagneforeveryone you're always waiting to break free, one way or another. I hope you put on the Freddie Mercury song.

I've had my brekkers and D3, let's see what awaits today.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/01/2021 08:57

Sleet it is. Yuk! DBil just sent a foto from his window. 20 cm of snow, but he, too, couldn't go home bc ward hand over (Stationsübergabe).

soddingkitten · 24/01/2021 09:23

Just had the email confirming the substitutions in my click and collect shop. Can anyone explain why you’d substitute posh dried chillies for the unavailable dried porcini mushrooms? I can’t make sense of it. What do we think was going through the picker’s mind at that point?

Lonelycrab · 24/01/2021 09:40

Absolutely shed loads of snow here, north Hampshire.

TenCornMaidens · 24/01/2021 09:40

I love mad supermarket substitutions. Tell me your weirdest.
